Thevenet & Fils Blanc de Blancs de Chardonnay Brut NV NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Serrières, Ardèche
"A delightful sparkling wine built exclusively from Chardonnay (younger vines of 20 years of age) harvested from parcels in the village of Serrieres on the border with Pierreclos. The vineyards are west facing and are planted to sandy soils. Only 6000 bottles are produced annually, a good portion of which come to the USA. Depending on vintage conditions, the malo-lactic fermentation is sometimes blocked in order to maintain the proper high level of acidity. The dosage is minimal so as to produce a bone-dry, brightly effervescent cuvée." Importer Notes

Alex Foillard Cote de Brouilly 2019 2019, 0.75L
Gamay from Côte de Brouilly, Beaujolais
"Light, vivid ruby. Vibrant red fruit, floral and spice qualities on the mineral-inflected nose take on suggestions of incense and licorice as the wine stretches out. Sappy, incisive and pure, offering palate-staining raspberry, bitter cherry, floral pastille and rhubarb flavors that show a compelling blend of depth and vivacity. Closes very long and subtly chewy, with reverberating florality and polished tannins that come in late. That Foillard magic is clearly a hereditary thing." 94 points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Antoine Sunier Morgon 2020, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais
"Deep violet. Primary, mineral-tinged cherry, black raspberry and violet aromas take on a spicy nuance with air. Offers densely packed yet lively dark berry, cherry preserve and spicecake flavors and a touch of cola. Betrays no rough edges and shows excellent clarity on a strikingly long, subtly tannic finish that emphatically echoes the floral and mineral notes." 93 Josh Raynolds, Vinous
"Antoine Sunier’s Morgon hails from two lieux à dits, les Grands Cras and Croix de Chèvres, with all of the vines in excess of sixty years of age. The wine is fermented in cement vats with carbonic maceration and then racked off to old Burgundy casks for elevage. The 2020 Morgon is a beautiful wine in the making, delivering a superb aromatic constellation of black cherries, sweet dark berries, pomegranate, fresh thyme, dark soil tones, coffee bean and a topnote of bonfire. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, sappy and soil-driven, with a beautiful core of fruit, ripe, seamless tannins, lovely focus and grip and a long, beautifully balanced and complex finish. This is outstanding juice in the making." 93 John Gilman

Chateau Thivin Côte de Brouilly 2021, 0.75L
Gamay from Côte de Brouilly, Beaujolais
"The 2021 Côte de Brouilly has turned out nicely, mingling aromas of cherries and berries with notions of burning embers and forest floor. Medium-bodied, fleshy and vibrant, with a lively core of fruit, powdery tannins and a sapid, saline finish, it marks a return to a more classically proportioned style after several richer, riper vintages." 92 William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Daniel Bouland Morgon Bellevue Cailloux 2019, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais
"Derived from older vines in rockier soils, the 2019 Morgon Bellevue Cailloux is even more sensuous and textural than its Sable counterpart. Mingling notions of raspberries and plums with hints of rose petals and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, its powdery tannins almost entirely cloaked in succulent, perfumed fruit." 94 Points William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

"The 2019 Morgon Corcelette Vieilles Vignes Cailloux is once again quite structured this year, though it's not as brooding and muscular as its 2018 counterpart. Revealing aromas of raspberries, cherries, burning embers and sweet soil tones, it's medium to full-bodied, with a deep core of fruit, lively acids and a chassis of fine but abundant tannins." 94 Points William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Domaine Lafarge-Vial Fleurie Clos Vernay 2016, 0.75L
Gamay from Fleurie, Beaujolais
"The 2016 Fleurie Clos Vernay wafts from the glass with a nuanced bouquet of raspberries, wild plums, dark chocolate and loamy soil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, tangy and quite concentrated, framed by elegantly fine-grained tannins that nevertheless suggest this is a wine that will go the distance, much like the family's Volnays." 93 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate
"A markedly more complex if not more elegant combination offers up notes of both red and dark raspberry that are cut with hints of earth and pepper. There is more volume and intensity to the concentrated and serious medium-bodied flavors that terminate in a mildly austere finish that is notably longer. This is excellent and well-worth considering." 92 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Louis Claude Desvignes Morgon Javernieres 2020, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais
"The 2020 Morgon Côte du Py Javernières is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, spices, rose petals, loamy soil and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with impressive reserves of ripe tannin and sapid fruit, it's seamless and lively, concluding with a long, resonant finish. As ever, this is built to age, and it will reward patience, even if its youthful charms are considerable." 94+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate
"Interestingly, the 2020 Javernières is a full point lower in listed octane than the Côte du Py in this vintage, coming in at 13.5 percent alcohol. These vines are forty years of age and planted in the vineyard’s deeper, clay and iron-veined soils. The bouquet is truly stunning this year, offering up complexity, purity and a subtle sense of sappiness that is bound to grow as the wine blossoms. It delivers scents of red and black cherries, pomegranate, a touch of red plum, gamebird, woodsmoke, a complex base of soil tones and delicate topnote of fresh thyme. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full, with a great core of fruit, superb soil undertow, excellent complexity, ripe, fine-grained tannins and a long, tangy and perfectly focused finish. This is a young wine, but so beautifully balanced that it is already very tasty, though the structure starts to build a bit on the backend with extended air. Ten years down the road this wine will really be reaching its apogee of peak drinkability, but it seems likely that it will be too tempting in its youth to not see many bottles gobbled down in the coming few years. Great young Morgon." 94+ John Gilman

Marcel Lapierre Morgon "S" 2021, 1.5L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais
"Deep nose of spices, licorice and dried cherries with a pronounced flinty note. Cool and sleek but with impressive concentration for the 2021 vintage, this already has wonderful harmony right through the long, structured and stony finish. Bottled with low sulfur addition and unfiltered. Drink or hold." 94 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, Feb 2023
"Aromas of plums, cherries and berries introduce Lapierre's 2021 Morgon, a light to medium-bodied, supple wine built around tangy acids and concluding with a rather abrupt finish. Despite that—and much like its 2020 predecessor—it's among the purer and more precise renditions of this bottling in recent years, and it will offer thirst-quenching, uncomplicated drinking this summer and next." Marcel Lapierre Morgon N 2021, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais
"All our vines are located on the Morgon terroir. It is undoubtedly one of the most famous Beaujolais crus! Typically, Morgon presents four dominant aromas: cherry, violet, raspberry and a very slight touch of liquorice… Combining lightness and richness, our Morgon has an aging potential of around ten years on average. It should be noted that the Morgon appellation dates from 1936, only 12 years after the creation of the first AOCs, in Arbois and Châteauneuf." Winery Notes

Pierre-Marie Chermette Domaine du Vissoux Beaujolais Les Griottes Rosé 2020, 0.75L

"Bright and energetic on the nose, displaying ripe tangerine and strawberry flavors and suggestions of candied rose and succulent herbs. Fleshy and dry on the palate, offering sappy red fruit and melon flavors and a refreshingly bitter suggestion of orange peel on the back half. Finishes long, smooth, and broad. This is a rosé that is made for lighter summer fare (salads, charcuterie, etc.), but that can stand up to lighter meat preparations." Importer Notes, Weygandt Wines

Chateau Leoville-Barton 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Julien, Bordeaux
"Léoville-Barton is one of the very few wines, from any appellation, that combines power and finesse with such grace in 2017. Rich, deep and wonderfully expressive, the 2017 has so much offer. The high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon comes through loud and clear. Inky dark, fruit, game, spice, mint, licorice and lavender all build in a wine of regal elegance and head spinning beauty. For its combination of quality and price, Léoville-Barton remains one the most consumer-friendly wines of the Left Bank. The blend is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot. The September rains were especially challenging for the Merlot and Cabernet Franc. As a result, Cabernet is pushed up in the blend, while there is no Franc at all. Graville-Lacoste Graves Blanc 2021, 0.75L

"Located in the Graves in Pujols-sur-Ciron, Château Graville-Lacoste has a terroir which, from a geographical and geological point of view, is in the continuity of Château Roûmieu-Lacoste located in Haut-Barsac, Sauternes. With its finesse and elegance, the blend promotes balance between the minerality coming from the depth of the subsoils composed of cracked limestone rock and the fruit is pronounced on the citrus notes. Simple, fresh and light, we find its constancy in the vintages. It tastes well as an aperitif or accompanies seafood, fish, oysters and spicy dishes." Producer Notes

Haut Segottes St. Emilion 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc / Merlot from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
Tradition reigns at Haut-Ségottes. Harvest is manual. Fermentation takes place in cuve. Wines are rotated into barrel for an “elevage” of approximately 18 months. Approximately 20% of the barrels are new. Wines are bottled unfiltered. Although the majority of the vineyards are planted to Merlot (see above), the ultimate cuvée bottled as Chateau Haut Segottes Saint Emilion Grand Cru features a majority of Cabernet Franc. This dominance of Cabernet Franc (frequently on the order of 65%) produces a wine of considerable structure and is exceptionally age-worthy. We purchase 10,000 bottles per annum for sale in the USA. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice, new leather, incense, and grilled herb overtones infuse the 2017 with striking layers of nuance, but it is the wine's feel that really elevates it into the realm of Pessac-Léognan's best. Le Petit Ducru de Ducru Beaucaillou 2019, 0.75L

"The 2019 Le Petit Ducru de Ducru Beaucaillou comes from 25 hectares on the western part of the appellation (10 hectares currently being re-planted) with declassified La Croix and Ducru Beaucaillou. It has a very focused bouquet of black fruit infused with graphite/pencil lead scents, a touch of brine emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with a smooth texture that belies a firm backbone. Quite stern at the moment – maybe it’s just closed up as the winter descends – but I admire its marine-tinged finish. Leoville Las Cases 2018, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Julien, Bordeaux
"Pure magic and one of the finest expressions of this estate I could imagine, as well as a perfect wine, the 2018 Château Léoville Las Cases comes from a mix of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc that spent 19 months in (I believe) all new French oak. Its dense purple color is followed by a profound wine loaded with notions of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, melon, crushed stone, tobacco, and violets. Full-bodied, concentrated, and massive on the palate, yet also incredibly well delineated and precise, it has a wonderful mix of seemingly ripe, sunny fruit from a warm year yet the minerality, purity, and precision of a cooler year. This wine is going to be just about immortal; however, do your best to hide bottles for a solid 10-15 years. Drink: 2031-2081." 100 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, Mar 2021

Les Forts de Latour 2016, 0.75L

"The 2016 Les Forts de Latour is the clear highlight among these new releases from Latour. The first thing that is evident about the 2016 is the pedigree of the vintage. Undisputedly great. Readers will find a potent, dark Forts de Latour endowed with massive concentration and tons of depth. The 2016 won't be ready to drink anytime soon, but it holds tons of promise. Hints of gravel, sage, licorice and pencil shavings linger. The 2016 was impressive a few years ago. It is even better today." 96 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Lynch-Bages 2008, 0.75L

Revealing a still youthful ruby/purple color as well as impressive notes of graphite, cedar pencil, cassis, tobacco, and obvious minerality, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, polished tannins, and a concentrated, layered texture. Jean-Charles Cazes described the vintage as late and great for Cabernet Sauvignon, and this beauty has classic Cabernet flair in spades. Lynch-Bages 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux
"The 2019 Château Lynch-Bages is stunningly good, and it's going to be interesting to compare this to the 2018 over the coming decades. Based on 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, brought up in 75% new French oak, its dense purple hue is followed by an incredible bouquet of pure crème de cassis, freshly sharpened cedar pencil, spring flowers, smoke, and graphite, with an almost liqueur of rocks-like minerality. A massive, incredibly concentrated Lynch-Bages, Jean-Charles has hit a home run in the vintage, and this sensational wine has building, perfect tannins, insane purity, and a finish that won't quit. It has the purity, finesse, balance, and depth to offer pleasure not only today but to evolve for 40 to 50 years. Smart money will hide these for a good 7-8 years, but wow, what a wine. Margaux 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Margaux, Bordeaux
"The 2019 Château Margaux is a blend of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, accounting for 37% of the crop. The alcohol came in at 13.9%, the IPT was 75, and the pH was 3.66. Deep garnet-purple in color, the nose begins with intense scents of crushed blackberries, warm cassis and plum preserves before fanning out into a whole array of floral, exotic spice and earth scents: iris, red roses, star anise, cassis, tilled soil, moss-covered bark and black truffles, with an emerging waft of crushed rocks. The medium-bodied palate quivers with energy, emitting loads of mineral sparks, featuring bold freshness and fantastically ripe, finely grained tannins to support the delicate, perfumed layers, finishing very long and wonderfully poised. The juxtaposition between the acidity and the richness in this Château Margaux is just extraordinary!"97-100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Mouton Rothschild 2009, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux
"The 2009 Mouton-Rothschild is as concentrated as the 2010, but it presents itself in a more consumer-friendly, seductive style. Opulently textured and full-bodied with gorgeous levels of crème de cassis, melted licorice, espresso roast and chocolate, it possesses high but sweet, velvety tannins, massive body, and fabulous purity as well as length. This could turn out to be a candidate for perfection . . ." Robert Parker 99 Points
“Opulent, luscious and rich Mouton at it's exotic, showy best. Multi-layered and complex, with wave after wave of ripe red and dark berry aromas and flavours, complicated by sweet spices, violet, and cigar box. Rich and ripe but marvelously precise and light on its feet.” Decanter 99 Points
“The 2009 Mouton Rothschild is exceptionally beautiful. A huge, powerful wine, the 2009 possesses stunning richness and radiance, with plenty of underlying structure to support all of that exuberance. Smoke, grilled herbs, tobacco and incense give the 2009 much of its exotic, captivating personality. Seamless, opulent, yet with terrific freshness, the 2009 is sure to thrill those fortunate to own it for several decades. In a word: dazzling. The blend is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Merlot. Harvest took place between September 23 and October 6 in a year marked with dry weather, higher than average temperatures and generous sunshine.” Vinous 98+ Points
“Super fruity and layered with incredible depth and length. Currants, plums, dried strawberries and cherries. Full body, soft and round tannins and gorgeous fruit. Sexy and voluptuous.” James Suckling 98 Points
“This will always be a great contrast to the dark power of the 2010, sporting lush layers of fig, boysenberry and blackberry confiture, carried by velvety tannins, flowing through a long, anise-, tobacco- and cocoa-fueled finish. Not shy on grip, but much rounder and plusher in feel. Hard to resist now, but there's absolutely no rush.” Wine Spectator 98 Points
"Inviting nuances of ripe heart cherries and fresh figs, a hint of nougat caramel, and fine wood spice with a hint of vanilla. Juicy, complex, ripe, dark berry notes, with subtle extract sweetness; polished, ripe tannins, and mineral notes on the finish." FM 100

Pedesclaux 2016, 0.75L

"The 2016 Pédesclaux is the first vintage to include all four grape varieties planted in the vineyard, according to Emmanuel Cruse. It has a very focused, concentrated bouquet of blackberry, graphite, hints of tobacco and a slight granitic scent - très Pauillac. The palate is medium-bodied with silky tannin, impressive depth, gentle grip and a killer line of acidity. I adore the harmony and precision of this Pédesclaux, which is probably the best to date. Highly recommended. 13.3% alcohol. (Drink between 2024-2045)" 94 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous

Samion 2019, 0.75L
Merlot from Lalande de Pomerol, Bordeaux
Château Samion is the family domaine of Jean‐Claude Berrouet, the man who oversaw more than 40 vintages at the famed Château Petrus in Pomerol from 1964until his retirement in 2007. Together with his son Jean‐Françis, they produce a small amount of wine from their holdings in Lalande‐de‐Pomerol which total a scant1.2 hectares. The first vintage for Château Samion was in 1979 when they rented the vineyards, but since 1985 they have been owned by the Berrouet family and the vines are now an average of 45 years in age. There is but one wine made at Château Samion. The wine is made from 100% Merlot, and one will find it is made in the same manner and with the same exacting care as Château Petrus. The grapes are harvested by hand, and then vinified in concrete vats. Following the vinification, the wine is racked and aged for 20 months in 15% new French oak casks (225 liters). Importer Notes

"The 2018 Le Petit Haut Lafitte Blanc is a blend of 80% Sauvignon and 20% Sémillon brought up in 50% new French oak. It's a little gem of a Bordeaux Blanc offering lots of ripe lemon, toasted nut, and honeysuckle notes to go with a rich, medium to full-bodied, impressively textured style. Armand Heitz Chevalier Montrachet 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Puligny Montrachet, Burgundy
"This is aromatically quite similar to the Perrières with its nose of matchstick, mineral reduction and markedly floral scents that are trimmed in just enough wood to remark upon. The wonderfully refined and intense medium weight flavors possess only average density though the bone-dry, firm, youthfully austere and stony finish displays superb length. Note well that at least some patience will be necessary as this is presently very tightly wound." 94 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Armand Heitz Pommard 1er Cru Les Rugiens 2020, 0.75L

The rich and equally attractively textured medium-bodied flavors that exude plenty of minerality on the dusty, even chalky, but not really austere finish that goes on and on. Benjamin Leroux Vosne-Romanée 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vosne Romanee, Burgundy
"Ben Leroux has produced a series of textbook wines in 2017, with clear differences between the terroirs and villages. This sees two-thirds whole-bunch fruit - the portion that comes from the Aux Ravioles lieu-dit close to the border with Nuits-St-Georges is destemmed - and is matured in one-third new oak. It's brimming with sappy, juicy red berry flavours and beguiling sweetness." 92 Tim Atkin MW, Decanter
"The 2017 Vosne-Romanée Village, one of Leroux’s largest cuvées at 31 barrels, a large proportion sourced from Flagey-Echézeaux, has a fragrant bouquet with white flowers complementing the red cherry and crushed strawberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate displays supple tannin, a fine bead of acidity, silky-smooth texture and a tart red cherry and orange peel finish that is quite spicy on the aftertaste. Good potential. A firmly reduced nose reveals almost nothing except that the underlying fruit seems ripe. Otherwise there is both good verve and freshness to the delicious, round and rich medium-bodied flavors that are shaped by lemon-tinged acidity where a hint of citrus zest bitter arises. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, velvety and fleshy, with succulent acids and elegant tannins. Daniel-Etienne Defaix Chablis Vaillon 2009, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
"The 2009 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillon offers up aromas of waxy citrus, beeswax, fresh peach and dried white flowers, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and satiny palate with lively acids and a broad, expansive finish. Defaix's 2007 and 2008 Vaillon bottlings are still quite tight, but the 2009 is already wide open. On my most recent visit to the Defaix winery, I tasted with Paul-Etienne Defaix, the 15th generation of the family to perpetuate the domaine. Demand for the wines is high. The estate's 2010 premiers crus were bottled this year, with plans to release them once the 2009s, reviewed here, are sold out. While I knew Defaix practiced very long élevage, I confess I hadn't quite realized just how long, but a tour of the winery revealed tank after tank, full of Chablis patiently awaiting its moment in the limelight. Since my last visit, 2007 and 2008 have both come and gone, but I tried examples of both and found much to admire. The 2009s, on first encounter, are richer and more developed in style, as is to be expected of that warmer, more giving vintage." 92 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"Aromas of citrus blossom, fresh peach, pears and warm pastry introduce Jeandeau's 2017 Viré-Clessé, a medium to full-bodied, lively and precise wine that's elegantly textural but decidedly incisive by the standards of the appellation. With time in the glass, musky nuances emerge, hinting at the presence of some muscaté selections of Chardonnay; Jeandeau opts to raise these in tank, while the remaining two-thirds are vinified in barrel. Domaine Ponsot Chapelle Chambertin 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Cote de Nuits, Burgundy
"The Chapelle-Chambertin is permitted a slightly longer vinification at slightly lower temperatures than the other re wines. It is the first to eb picked and the last to be decanted out of the fermentation vats. It has paid dividends this year. The colour offers a wealth of exuberant deep purple. The nose too is joyous, making an immediate statement of ripe but delightful deep raspberry and succulent strawberry fruit. There is a wealth of fruit right across the palate then this same strong mineral acidity to finish. The fruit seems to darken (in a good way) in the glass. This is going to be pretty special." 94-97 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, Oct 2020
Opening in the glass with aromas of cherries, strawberries and raspberries mingled with peonies and licorice, Ponsot's 2019 Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru is full-bodied, layered and velvety, with a broad attack that segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate framed by ripe tannins and lively acids. Domaine Ponsot Clos de la Roche Cuvée Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy
"A cool, pure and highly complex nose combines aromas of essence of plum liqueur, black cherry, violet, earth and plenty of spice components. The sense of refinement continues on the sleek, succulent and almost lacy mineral-driven and wonderfully textured medium weight flavors that deliver superb persistence on the exceptionally firm, beautifully balanced and youthfully austere finale. It's not all the time that Clos de la Roche is described as a wine of class but in 2019, this wine has that highly desirable attribute. *Don't Miss!*" 96 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2021
"Ponsot's 2019 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes was picked in multiple passages, beginning with earlier-ripening massale selections on September 17, followed by the rest of the domaine's holdings on September 22–23. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet raspberries and plums mingled with licorice, peony and cinnamon, it's full-bodied, fleshy and seamless, with a rich core of fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish. This is aging gracefully and underlines the additional precision Alex Abel has brought to Ponsot's winemaking in recent years." 96 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Dec 2022

Domaine Ponsot Corton Charlemagne 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Corton-Charlemagne, Burgundy
"A mix of Le Charlemagne and Languettes. Very pale lemon colour. The nose shows a little bit of fresh melon and honeysuckle, more floral than heavy, nicely balanced, lemon scented behind, still floral, never heavyweight but with a tensile strength and good length." 92-95 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, Oct 2020
"The 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru is broad and textural, offering up aromas of honeyed orchard fruit, freshly baked bread, buttery pastry and white flowers, followed by a full-bodied, layered and enveloping palate that's lively and penetrating, concluding with a saline finish." 93 points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

Domaine Taupenot-Merme Saint Romain Blanc 2018, 0.75L

"Pale yellow robe with green hue. Saint Romain has notes of white flowers and toasted bread on the nose when young. When it has been aged, the nose changes to Mirabelle (yellow plums) and light honey. In the mouth, its liveliness, minerality and body make it very approachable when young." Winemaker Notes

Domaine Testut Chablis Les Vaillons 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
"The 2019 Chablis “Vaillons” from Cyril Testut is a lovely example of this fine vintage, offering up a ripe, minerally-infused and very precise bouquet of pear, tart orange, wet stone minerality, incipient notes of paraffin, straw, a hint of anise and a topnote of citrus peel. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and complex, with a rock solid core of fruit, excellent mineral drive and grip, a fine girdle of acidity and a long, youthful and beautifully balanced finish. This is lovely, but deserves at least a couple of years in the cellar to unlock its secondary layers of complexity. Fine juice." 92 Points John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Domaine de Villaine Bourgogne Côte Chalonnaise La Digoine 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Côte Chalonnaise, Burgundy
"Here too reduction dominates the fruit at present. Otherwise, there is good verve to the delicious middle weight flavors that aren't quite as concentrated, but they are noticeably finer on the lingering finish that flashes nuances of rusticity and warmth. This is also solidly powerful if perhaps not quite as powerful as the La Fortune. This too offers excellent quality for its level." Allen Meadows, Burghound

Raised exclusively in demi-muids, it has a beautifully-defined bouquet with refined orange pith, quince, saffron and light honeysuckle scents. Famille Savary Chablis 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
Subtle and delicate nose opening on gleams of a true Chablis minerality. A bit of breathing confirms this limestony impression blending into notes of pear and apple where a delicate hint of fresh almond appears. The mouth makes you feel you are experiencing a richer, more intense personality where the complexity of the terroir is bringing some relief to the tasting. The limestone supports every second of the tasting and brings its unmistakeable profile until the very last perceivable notes on a beautiful finale. A mineral Chablis with intensity and freshness that truly ressembles what a great Chablis with a limestone terroir can and should offer. Producer Notes

Fichet Meursault Chevalieres 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy
"The 2020 Meursault Les Chevalières has a reserved but focused nose, requiring some coaxing but delivering satisfying citrus peel and light lemon thyme aromas. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh with impressive weight and persistence on the finish, hints of lemon sherbet on the aftertaste. Excellent. (Drink between 2023-2035)"91-93 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous
"Cool and airy aromas of mineral reduction, citrus and a floral whiff are trimmed in admirably discreet wood influence. There is both good richness and intense to the ultra-pure, even crystalline, flavors that conclude in a chiseled, long and balanced finale. "A more deeply pitched nose reveals notes of roasted plum, spice, newly turned earth and an abundance of sauvage character. There is impressive intensity to the delicious and vibrant if not especially dense middle weight flavors that culminate in a complex, rustic and serious finish that is built to repay extended cellaring. Francine et Oliver Savary Chablis Vieilles Vignes 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
"The Savarys have finally earned the recognition for their hard work, and are highly regarded in the appellation. The clay-limestone hillsides of the Kimmeridgian chain are excellent for growing dazzling, complex Chardonnay, also known here as “Beaunois.” However ideal the soil, Olivier brings his own brilliance to the table. The grapes from his vineyards throughout the Chablis appellation are blended into one fabulously complex village wine cuvée. He also bottles an extraordinary premier cru from Fourchaume, as well as a separate cuvée of old-vine fruit in heavy, wax-sealed bottles after élévage in demi-muids. These exquisite wines are quintessential Chablis, with unmistakable aromas of ancient crushed shells and a pronounced, racy mineral structure." Importer Notes

Georges Lignier Clos de la Roche 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy
"The estate owns five plots on a range of different soil, with the vines averaging about 60 years of age: Moderately saturated medium red. Aromas of cherry, strawberry and raspberry accented by brown spices; the nose suggests a bigger wine than the Clos Saint-Denis. The large-scaled and deeper in the mouth but tightly wound, with its red fruit flavors complicated by soil-driven notes of menthol, stone, dried flowers, spices and underbrush. A bit more powerful and tannic than the Clos Saint-Denis, this wine will also require a minimum of five or six years of aging upon release .... Benoît Stehly told me he 'loves' the style of 2016, and he prefers his ‘16s to his ‘15s for their balance and elegance. 'It’s unusual to have very fruity and very fresh wines at the same time,' he went on, 'and the tannins are wonderfully ripe.'" 91-94 Stephen Tanzer, Vinous

Goisot Exogyra Virgula Sauvignon Blanc de Saint-Bris 2021, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Saint-Bris, Burgundy
From 4.38 hectares of vineyard land from the lieux-dits of Cornevin, Cote de la Canne and La Roncie. 50% of the vines are 10-15 years old and 50% are 15-40 years in age.
The wine is vinified at cold temperatures in stainless steel vats using native yeasts and aged on its fine lees. It shares many attributes with top bottlings of Sancerre from terres blanches soils, and it is generally cropped at lower yields than all but the very best estates in Sancerre. Brilliant minerality and poise from this master of the appellation. Nose of citrus and melon. Very long and intense. Beaune Imports

Guillot-Broux Macon-Cruzille Beaumont Rouge 2019, 0.75L
Gamay from Mâcon-Cruzille, Burgundy
"From Gamay vines planted in 1978 in the coolest of the domaine's red wine parcels, the 2019 Mâcon-Cruzille Beaumont exhibits notions of red berries, warm spices, smoke, raw cocoa and orange rind. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, it's deep and sapid, with powdery tannins and a long, floral finish. It was vinified without any destemming. As I wrote of its 2018 counterpart, this is a serious, inherently structured wine, so readers shouldn't be misled by the modest appellation into drinking it too soon: four or five years' bottle age will be richly rewarded." 92+ Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Henri Perrusset Macon-Villages 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Macon, Burgundy
"Henri Perrusset’s vineyards and home are located in the small town of Farges-les-Mâcon, on the northernmost spur of the limestone subsoil that characterizes the appellation of Mâcon. Farges is not far away from the village named (believe it or not) Chardonnay. The limestone in Farges is more marly than the compact limestone farther south in Pouilly-Fuissé. It is hard and intensely white, but breaks apart into small pieces and it is loaded with quartz and marine fossils as well. This type of soil is easier to work despite all the stones, provides great drainage for the vines, and gives the wines their grainy minerality. Our Mâcon-Farges bottling comes uniquely from a parcel of old vines, while the Mâcon-Villages is a custom blend of all his other holdings around Farges. These are Chardonnays with the ripeness and intensity level of a Pouilly-Fuissé or even a Saint-Aubin, with the particular goût de terroir of Henri’s corner of Mâcon." Importer Notes

Jean et Sébastien Dauvissat Chablis Les Preuses 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
"The 2018 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru brings together all the best elements of the house style. Brisk and inviting with terrific energy, the Preuses has so much to offer. Like the Vaillons Vieilles Vignes, the Preuses was vinified in wood, and yet it shows better oak integration and a greater sense of completeness. A kick of Preuses mineral and floral notes punctuate the finish."92-94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
There is very good Chablis character to the aromas of petrol, quinine, tidal pool and various white-fleshed fruit scents that are trimmed in noticeable if discreet wood toast. The oak influence can be discerned on the palate as well as the firm, serious and youthfully austere finale. 91-93 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Jean-Marc Bouley Volnay Clos de la Cave 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy
"The 2018 Volnay Clos de la Cave is showing beautifully in bottle, and Bouley observes that the fact that—despite its prime exposition—this site is in the shade by around 6 p.m. every evening complements its calcium-rich soils to lend it a notably ethereal profile. Wafting from the glass with scents of sweet berries, peonies, mandarin rind, raw cocoa and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and perfumed, with a bright spine of acidity, refined tannins and a lively, mineral finish." 92 William Kelley, Wine Advocate
"A cooler and airier nose is comprised primarily by various red berry scents, and in particular cherry, along with hints of violet and lilac. The racy and chiseled flavors seem to be poised on a base of wet stone that really comes to the fore on the linear and tightly wound finish. Even so I suspect this will blossom relatively quickly." 89-91 Allen Meadows, Burghound

Jean-Paul et Benoit Droin Chablis Valmur 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
"From recently replanted vines totaling 1.04 ha; aged in 50% wood but only a small percentage is new. Once again moderate wood is present on the spicy aromas of green fruit and oyster shell-inflected nose. The rich, powerful and broad-shouldered flavors possess a borderline creamy mid-palate texture while exhibiting outstanding length on the sappy and saline finish. Very promising." 92-94 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
"The 2021 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru offers more intensity and precision than the Vaudésir, the wood giving weight but beautifully assimilated, shucked oyster shells emerging. The palate is well balanced with a slightly honeyed opening, notes of lemon curd and orange pith, building nicely in the mouth towards a suave and lightly spiced finish. Superb." 92-94 Neal Martin, Vinous
"From a site of just over 1ha, Valmur is a colder site giving, as Droin says, a more masculine. Cool, closed on the nose, this will need a lot of time to open up. Oak is a little more apparent here, with very precise acidity. Very linear at the minute, a grand cru with a nose of white flowers, and a palate of great purity. This will need three to four years to open and will be hitting its stride in seven to eight." 93 Andy Howard MW, Decanter Magazine
"Pale lemon colour. An excellent bouquet, though as usual it is hard to know exactly where to place Valmur, some ripe apples, pears and the start of plums, rich and dense, with some marine notes at the back reminding us it is Chablis." 91-94 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

Laurent Ponsot Charmes-Chambertin Cuvee du Cypres 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Cote de Nuits, Burgundy
"From a parcel located in Charmes, down-slope from Chambertin, this is slightly backwards at present, with a bit of reduction, but behind these aromas there is plenty of sumptuous, bright red berry fruit. The texture is firm and fresh, with the grip and intensity to age well. Although it does not have the intensity or persistence of the Chambertin, it resembles it in its vibrant elegance and balance." 94 points, Decanter Magazine, Oct 2020
"Here the ripe and fresh nose derives more from the red side of the fruit spectrum while adding nuances of cherry liqueur, warm earth and underbrush. There is very good detail and subtle minerality to the dense and relatively muscular big-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finale. "A very ripe yet still agreeably fresh nose combines notes of black cherry, cassis and plum liqueur with those of warm earth and discreet anise nuances. The delicious and relatively refined larger-scaled flavors possess a caressing mid-palate texture that contrasts somewhat with the muscular, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. This has a complex and enticing bouquet of yellow stone fruit, apple peel and light stony scents. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly honeyed texture on the opening. Lignier Michelot Morey Saint Denis Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Morey St. Denis, Burgundy
"The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Vieilles Vignes contains 80% whole bunches. It has an opulent bouquet ... of dates and fig filtering through the black fruit but still fresh. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent red berry fruit laced with white pepper and bay leaf, opening up nicely on the finish that cruises along with a sprinkling of white pepper and cumin." 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous
"80% whole bunch. From Très Girard, Les Cognées and Chenevery. Rich deep purple with a much more concentrated fruit on the nose, lifted a little by the whole bunches. Plump dark fruit, spicy notes, fills the mouth out, slightly darker fruit than En la Rue de Vergy and will take a little longer." 91-93 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy
"From a blend of Très Girard, Les Cognées and Chenevery; 80% whole cluster. This too is quite aromatically pretty with its ripe and fresh array of floral, spice and black currant that is laced with warm earth hints. There is excellent volume to the caressing yet powerful and concentrated medium-bodied flavors that culminate in a robust, serious and youthfully austere finale that offers even better depth and persistence. "Rich bright purple, a little bit of oak showing. Plenty of fruit up front, this expands beautifully across the palate in that blend of fresh cherry, ripe raspberry and light pepperiness which is typical here this year. Fine tannins and long finish." 91-94 Jasper Morris

Louis Boillot Pommard Les Fremiers 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Pommard, Burgundy
"Ripe, very fresh and restrained aromas that are composed mostly of red berries and warm earth though there are background nuances of humus and floral wisps. The cool, pure and equally restrained middle weight flavors possess very good volume and mid-palate density before concluding in a dusty, youthfully austere and firmly structured finale." 91-94 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Louis Boillot Volnay Les Angles 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy
"Airy, cool and very pretty, indeed perfumed, aromas are comprised by notes of essence of red raspberry, anise and lavender. The racy, delicious and agreeably textured middle weight flavors exude noticeably more minerality on the balanced and lingering finale. This too could use better depth, but more should develop if it is allowed a few years of cellar time." 90-92 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Louis Chenu Savigny-lès-Beaune "Aux Clous" 2019, 0.75L

"Here the earthier nose derives from the darker side of the fruit spectrum with its aromas of black raspberry, currant and poached plum. There is both more volume and density to the medium-bodied flavors that possess a bit more overall depth if not nearly the same finesse on the more obviously structured finale." 90 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Louis Chenu Savigny-lès-Beaune "Les Hauts Jarrons" 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Savigny-lès-Beaune, Burgundy
"The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Hauts-Jarrons 1er Cru comes from north-northeast- facing vines, whereas the domaine's others are south-facing. The soil is also slightly deeper and sandier here. This has the most floral bouquet, offering more red fruit and mineralité, and the best transparency of Pinoté among Chenu’s 2019s. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Cohesive and structured, leading to a vivid, slightly tart finish. This is a fantastic Savigny that may well end up at the top of my banded score." 91-93 Neal Marin, Vinous

Louis Michel Chablis Montée de Tonnerre 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
"Not surprisingly, the 2018 Montée de Tonnerre is one of the more structured premier crus in the cellars this year and it will want some bottle age to start to stir. The potential here is excellent, with the very pure and precise nose offering up scents of green apple, smoke, flinty minerality, citrus zest, spring flowers and a hint of the beeswax to come with bottle age. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nascently complex, with an excellent core of fruit, fine transparency and grip, snappy acids and a long, soil-driven and vibrant finish. This is a first class example." 94 Points John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Montanet-Thoden Bourgogne Vézelay Galerne 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Bourgogne Vézelay, Burgundy
"Domaine Montenet Thondon's organically grown Bourgogne Blanc de Vezely is a classically vibrant Chardonnay. It's beautifully ripe, but still bone dry with a light-to-medium body. You'll get notes of melon and green apple on the nose with crisp acidity and minerality. It's complex enough to stand alone, but also makes a perfect match for crisp summer salads with fruit like strawberries and sliced peaches, or grilled meat, fish, and light pasta dishes."

de Montille Puligny Montrachet 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Puligny Montrachet, Burgundy
"The majority of the fruit for this village Puligny is from a section of the Chalumeaux Premier Cru, that was declassified as village when a former owner brought in topsoil from outside the appellation in 1975. The bunches are lightly crushed and gently pressed, before being vinified in mostly old casks. The result has a beautiful, lemony fruit, with hints of flint and beeswax, plus a luxurious texture that splits the difference between opulence and racy finesse." 93 Points, Decanter Magazine

Marguet Ambonnay Grand Cru Extra Brut Rose 2014, 0.75L
Chardonnay / Pinot Noir from Champagne, Champagne
"Benoît Marguet makes a series of “village-named” bottlings, with some made from purchased fruit (such as his Mesnil cuvée) and others from his own, estate vineyards, as is the case with this brilliant bottle of vintage Rosé. The wine is comprised of a cépages of eighty-one percent chardonnay and nineteen percent pinot noir and was disgorged in March of 2019. The wine is simply stunning on the nose, soaring from the glass in a mix of melon, white cherries, tangerine, chalky soil tones, a touch of caraway seed, dried flowers and just a hint of the smokiness that will come with further bottle age. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, focused and shows off gorgeous mid-palate depth, with seamless balance, pinpoint bubbles and stunning length and grip on the complex and utterly refined finish. This is the best vintage-dated Rosé I have tasted from Monsieur Marguet since the exquisite 2009 version! Do not miss it! (Drink between 2019-2050)" 95 Points, John Gillman, View from the Cellar

Francis Boulard Les Murgiers Brut Nature NV, 0.75L
Pinot Meunier / Pinot Noir from Champagne, Champagne
“The NV Brut Nature Les Murgiers is mostly Muenier with a slap of Pinot Noir based on 2019, with 20% reserve wines. Bright and nervy with a refined mousse, the Murgiers is a bundle of energy today. White pepper, chalk, mint and dried flowers add complexity. Readers should expect an especially taut Meunier-based Champagne. The half bottle of this same wine showed more mid-palate texture and creaminess, along with expressive red fruit, spice and hazelnut flavors, giving a very good idea of where this wine is headed in time …. This is a terrific set of wines from Francis Boulard et Fille, which is now run by Francis’ daughter Delphine. Sustainable farming and low intervention winemaking yield Champagnes that are marked by delineation, focus and remarkable purity. The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs Les Vieilles Vignes is a fine introduction for readers who are new to the wines, while the 2013 Brut Nature Les Rachais shows how special this vintage is in the right hands.” 94, Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Francis Boulard Les Rachais Brut Nature 2013, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne
“The 2013 Brut Nature Les Rachais, 100% Chardonnay, is fabulous. It offers a beguiling mix of freshness, drive and power. Lemon confit, chamomile, dried flowers, mint and tangerine oil are some of the many notes that open with some coaxing. The 2013 could use another year or two in bottle, but it is already showing a good bit of mid-palate pliancy to match its natural energy. This really opens beautifully with air …. This is a terrific set of wines from Francis Boulard et Fille, which is now run by Francis’ daughter Delphine. Georges Laval Champagne Les Chenes Brut Nature 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cumières , Champagne
"The 2018 Georges Laval “les Chênes” Blanc de Blancs is a stunning young wine. It was disgorged in May of 2022 after three years aging sur latte. The beautiful bouquet jumps from the glass in a blaze of passion fruit, pear, fresh almond, a beautiful base of chalky soil tones, brioche, a hint of buttery oak and a pungent topnote of orange blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a fine core, lovely mineral undertow, elegant mousse and a long, focused and impeccably balanced finish. This is a young wine that deserves plenty of time in the cellar to hit its true apogee, but it has no rough edges today and is already damn hard not to want to drink in this first blush of youth. Georges Laval Champagne Cumieres Les Hautes Chevres Brut Nature 2017, 0.750L
Pinot Meunier / Pinot Noir from Cumières, Champagne
"It is hard to believe that Vincent Laval’s bottling from les Hautes Chèvres made the switch from very old vine pinot noir after the 2009 vintage to (not quite so) old vine pinot meunier in 2010 and never missed a beat in terms of quality and aging potential. The 2017 is the eighth harvest of pinot meunier composition for this beautiful cuvée and it is another gorgeous young wine. The bouquet is bright, pure and complex, offering up scents of tangerine, apple, brioche, chalky soil tones, lavender, acacia blossoms and just a hint of oak in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, crisp and deep at the core, with lovely transparency and grip, pinpoint bubbles, precise focus, seamless balance and a very, very long, refined and complex finish. Georges Laval Cumieres Brut Nature NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay / Pinot Noir from Cumières, Champagne
"This is a blend of Vincent Laval’s south-facing premier cru vineyards in Cumières, just west of Epernay. Quite vinous in texture with no sweetness on the palate, the nose combines citrus, minerals and just a hint of toast. Quite dry on the palate, a year or two in bottle helps this wine to fill out and reach it’s full potential of expression. Ripe fruit is laced with scratchy mineral texture and long term persistence. Like precious few Champagnes, this is a very serious wine that will reward, year after year, any cellaring that it is accorded." Importer Notes

Georges Laval Garennes Extra Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay / Pinot Meunier / Pinot Noir from Garennes, Champagne
"Garennes is a multi-vintage solera type blend featuring Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir & Chardonnay from the villages of Chambrecy, Damery, Cumières & Hautvillers. This ongoing blend is then blended with at least 50% of the current vintage base wine from the same plots and varietals. Notes of minerals, pear and citrus in the nose lead into a wine with gorgeous balance and persistence. The sophisticated balance between precise mineral precision and fleshy texture make this a wine with few precedents in our experience." Beaune Imports

Guy Larmandier Cramant Grand Cru Brut Zero Blanc de Blancs NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cramant, Champagne
"The non-dosage disgorgement of Larmandier’s Cramant is a different beast from the “classic” version: less rich but more driving; less broad but longer in the mouth. The total absence of any sense of sweetness allows the limestone to take center stage, and it presents in a more piercing and saline manner than the above wine. Despite its relative rigorousness and austerity, however, this is by no means a difficult wine. Rather, it will appeal to those who relish the sort of palpable, intense mineral character Champagne is capable of when made in such a straightforward fashion." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

"Subtle nuances of floral and yeast add breadth to the cool and pure green apple and lemon peel-inflected aromas. Jerome Prevost La Closerie Les Beguines LC18 Extra-Brut NV, 0.75L

"The NV Extra Brut Les Béguines LC 18 is a wine of immense charm and generosity of spirit. Mingling aromas of walnuts, fenugreek, pear, yellow orchard fruit, licorice, white flowers and buttery pastry with evocations of peach and apricot, it's full-bodied, fleshy and voluptuous, with a broad and textural attack that segues into an ample, enveloping core, concluding with a sapid finish. "These were the nicest grapes I've ever seen when assessed simply as fruit," Prévost remarks, contrasting the 2018 crop with the smaller berries and thicker skins of, for instance, 2015 "which were great grapes from which to make wine." 95 Points, William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Marguet Champagne 1er Cru Brut Nature Sapience 2011, 0.75L
Chardonnay / Pinot Meunier / Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims, Champagne
"The 2011 Marguet “Sapience” is a brilliant young wine that completely transcends the general quality of the vintage, as this was one of the more difficult growing seasons in recent Champagne history. But, no matter for the 2011 Sapience, which is utterly stunning! The cépages is fifty percent chardonnay and twenty-five percent each of pinot noir and pinot meunier, with the wine having been disgorged in July of 2021 after nine years aging sur latte. The bouquet is simply beautiful, offering up an exotic blend of passion fruit, fresh apricot, patissière, a touch of toasted almond, a gorgeous base of soil tones, dried flowers and a very gentle framing of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and stunningly precise, with a great core, excellent mineral undertow and cut, refined mousse and a great length and grip on the poised, perfectly balanced and very complex finish. This is stunning juice. (Drink between 2021-2050)" 95 Points, John Gillman, View from the Cellar

Pascal Doquet Arpege Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs, Champagne
"There is pure chalk and freshness on the nose, with white and intense fruit . . . . On the palate, this is a very complex and highly mineral Champagne with great purity, finesse, elegance and character. There is a lot of mineral grip and great complexity. Pascal Doquet's organic Champagnes are of great precision and among the very best that the Côte des Blancs has to offer. Highly recommended." 93 Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate
"The NV Blanc de Blancs Premier Cru Arpège is a gorgeous, sculpted Champagne built on precision. Crushed rocks, slate, green pears and citrus jump from the glass as this vibrant Champagne shows off its tense, pulsating personality. This is a gorgeous Champagne from Pascal Doquet." 92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Pierre Gerbais Champ Viole NV, 1.5L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne
"Aurélien Gerbais has just launched this range of new, single parcel bottlings, all based on a series of soleras he has begun for each wine . . . . with the perpetual reserve cuvées having been started several years before and added to the base year. Each bottling is also a single cépage, with the Champ Viole parcel being planted to chardonnay and the solera for this bottling started in 2011. The vins clairs for this wine were aged in cask . . . and finished with a dosage of three grams per liter. It delivers a splendid nose of pear, delicious apple, hazelnut, chalky soil tones, fresh-baked bread and just a touch of buttery oak. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and zesty, with a full-bodied format, a rock solid core of fruit, outstanding mineral drive and cut, snappy acids, pinpoint bubbles and a long, complex and very nicely balanced finish. This could do with a year or two in the cellar to let its acids relax a bit more, but in a pinch, it is already pretty tasty. A fine new range from Monsieur Gerbais." 92 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

R.H. Coutier La Pierre aux Larrons Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Montagne de Reims, Champagne
"A new wine in this range, the 2015 Brut Nature Pierre Aux Larrons Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru emerges from Coutier's oldest Chardonnay in Ambonnay, planted in 1948. The Brut Nature emphasizes the power of Chardonnay. I imagine a touch of dosage might have softened the wine a bit, but no matter, the 2015 is simply stunning. There is a feeling of translucent energy and starkness that I find especially compelling. Chalk, white flowers, mint, white pepper and lemon peel linger. What a wine." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Robert Moncuit Les Chetillons Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc Extra Brut 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne
Robert Moncuit is a French family winery with over a century of history. It is located in Le Mesnil-sur-Auger, where Alex Monqui planted vines in 1889. The first cuvées of them were obtained by Robert, Alex's grandson, only in 1935. Since then, the estate has been producing exceptional sparkling wines that are famous all over the world. The volume of wines produced is limited and amounts to 60,000 liters per year. After the death of Robert Monqui in 1987, his children, Françoise and Pierre Amille, took over the management of the company. They create elite champagnes from grapes from an area of 8 hectares of the Grand Cru category, fully occupied by Chardonnay grapes. The vines are processed without the use of pesticides, the harvest is carried out manually, and each batch is vinified separately, after which the wines are collected in exclusive blends.

Robert Moncuit Les Vozemieux Grand Cru Blanc de Blanc Extra Brut 2013, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne
"This barrel-fermented Blanc de Blancs is loaded with flavors of yellow plums, apricots, candied ginger, citrus rind, and brioche, and is bottled Extra Brut, though essentially as close to zero dosage as can be. Winemaker Pierre Amillet notes that "if you taste Chétillons next to Vozémieux. Vozémieux is more open, rounder, and more forward. Chétillons is leaner and the more direct of the two. The only difference between Chétillons and Vozémieux is soil and terroir. Even the age of the vines is similar. Vozémieux's exposition is due north so it matures later then Chétillons. Chétillons is southeast facing. The two parcels are only 500 meters apart."

Tarlant BAM! Brut Nature NV, 0.75L
Pinot Blanc / Arbanne / Petit Meslier from Oeuilly, Champagne
"The NV Brut Nature BAM!, Tarlant’s Pinot Blanc, Arbanne and Petit Meslier blend, is terrific. It offers notable energy and tension, with lovely complexity from the perpetual reserve that is used to complement the base vintage .... Lemon confit, marzipan, dried flowers, tangerine oil and lightly honeyed notes linger nicely, with a whole range of bright saline accents that lend further energy and focus. This release is terrific." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"I love Benoît and Mélanie Tarlant’s BAM bottling, which takes its name from its cépages of Pinot Blanc, Arbanne and Petit Meslier .... The wine offers up a beautifully complex bouquet of white peach, hazelnut, brioche, a complex base of chalky soil tones, a hint of buttery oak and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a superb core, very refined mousse, lovely focus and a long, complex finish. As I have said before, with extended aging on the fine lees de rigeur for all of the Tarlant bottlings, the acids have mellowed nicely prior to the wine’s release and the lack of dosage is hardly an issue here like it can be with so many other examples of Brut Nature, which are simply too young and snappy when hitting the market to provide drinking pleasure beyond the circle of non-dosé purists." 93 John Gilman, View From The Cellar
"Fun aromas of dried green mangos and green apples with ginger. Full-bodied with zippy acidity and a long, intense finish. Lots of dried fruit. Spiced pear, too. Really attractive and delicious. Pinot blanc, arbanne and petit meslier. From 2011 vintage. Disgorged June 2021. Drink now." 93 Points, James Suckling

Unlike the Blanc Premier Crus in this range, the Rosé has more body and textural intensity, all of which make for an absolutely compelling wine. I love the vinous intensity here. The Pinot Noir was not destemmed and had a maceration of one month, and the Poulsard and Trousseau were destemmed by hand and had a long maceration of around three months. This was vinified and bottled without any added sulfur. It has bright red fruit and pungent flavors, a light to medium body and very fine tannins. Domaine Désiré Petit Cremant du Jura Rosé Brut NV, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Arbois, Jura
“The Crémant de Jura Rosé Brut from Désiré-Petit is made from a cépages of pinot noir. The wine is a lovely salmon color and offers up a lovely nose of strawberries, rhubarb, chalky minerality, rye bread and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is vibrant, full-bodied and youthful, with snappy acids, a good core, frothy mousse and a long, nascently complex and gently vinous finish. This is my favorite of the three sparklers from Désiré-Petit, as it has a bit more complexity and its vinous personality works nicely at the table.” John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Domaine Overnoy-Crinquand Cremant du Jura Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cotes du Jura, Jura
Crinquand uses fruit from the younger vines of Ploussard to make his sparkling wine. Although the vintage is not indicated on the label, Crinquand’s Crémant is vintage specific, all the juice being from a single harvest. The Crémant from this estate is bone-dry “brut zero” (no dosage). On the palate one senses a hint of tannin, a strong underlying earthiness … its “terroir” and an ebullient raspberry fruit in both flavor and on the nose. Certified Organic. Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Mas de Daumas Gassac 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot / Pinot Noir / Malbec / Nebbiolo / Dolcetto from Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, Languedoc Roussillon
"Dark ruby-garnet, with violet highlights and a wide, light rim. Elegant black forest berry confit, hints of ripe currant and dark cherry, and subtle noble wood spice underlain with candied orange zest and tobacco nuances. Full-bodied and very elegant and round, with fine, rich extract; showing heart cherry notes and ripe, integrated tannins, this is mineral and persistent, and still very fresh and youthful; this will continue to improve with years of aging in the bottle; this wine has class." 95 Falstaff Magazin, Aug 2020
"The 2018 Rouge opens with a burst of sweet red and purplish fruit that is immediately alluring. Medium in body and silky, the 2018 impresses with its understated finesse and total class. The 2018 can be enjoyed today for its primary fruit, but I would prefer to cellar it for a few years to gain a bit more nuance. It is such a pretty and effusive wine. Bright acids and persistent tannins, both Gassac signatures, linger. (Drink between 2023-2038)" 93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Charles Joguet Chinon Clos de la Dioterie 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Chinon, Loire
"The 2018 Chinon Clos de la Dioterie is richly fruited, reflecting the warmth of the vintage, and soft and mouth-filling despite not being heavy. There's baked fruit here, suggesting a combination of black currant, red cherry, cedar and spice. The tannins are structured and textured, showing this wine's intent, but it's all very well handled – those tannins are both resolved and incredibly chalky. This is a lengthy, serious wine with sinew. The vintage might be evident in the high alcohol and warm profile, but the class of the site is also indisputable. Château de Fosse-Sèche Laurasie Rouge 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Saumur, Loire
"Darker in its ruby color, the 2019 Laurasie is a pure Cabernet Sauvignon from almost 20-year-old vines on the stony Jurassic plateau of Fosse-Sèche, where yields are not bigger than 20 hectoliters per hectare. This is fleshy and concentrated yet pure, fresh and elegant on the deep, terroir-driven and beautifully floral (violets) as well as graphitic nose that is absolutely distinctive in its delicate, pure and balanced style. Black and blue berries, dark cherries, green paprika, pencil lead and herbal, wet gravelly notes lead to a medium to full-bodied, highly elegant, refined and perfectly balanced palate that exhibits perfectly ripe, round and juicy fruit with a firm but ripe, very fine and elegant tannin/acidity complex. The finish of this concentrated red is tight, intense and spicy, showing black berry and chocolate as well as graphite and coal with dark cherry notes. Irresistible and, in 2019, possibly the finest wine from Fosse-Sèche. The wine was aged for 12 months in concrete eggs. Tasted in January 2021." 94 Points, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Daniel Chotard Sancerre Rouge Le Chant de l'Archet 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sancerre, Loire
"Daniel Chotard and his wife, Brigitte, live just outside Sancerre in the village of Reigny. The Chotard family has been making wine for well over two hundred years, though Daniel was initially reluctant to accept the family vocation and started as a teacher. Daniel is a bit of a Renaissance man. His enthusiasm and passion for learning extends beyond wine and into music; he is a gifted guitarist and accordion player. He organizes lively music and wine soirées that showcase wine as an equally compelling art form to jazz. He has also invited Kermit to bring his rootsy band to perform in Sancerre—stay tuned for concert dates! In recent years, Daniel has passed the reins of the domaine on to his son Simon. The terroir of Sancerre is widely regarded as producing one of the greatest expressions of the Sauvignon Blanc grape. Sancerre was once more celebrated for its red wine, a Parisian bistro favorite. Simon grows Pinot Noir as well, used to make both red wine and rosé. The hilltop town of Sancerre is surrounded by a commune of villages that collectively make up its eponymous appellation, and each village is blessed with varieties of a distinct limestone that imbues a lengthy mineral component to its wines. He farms the slopes of the village Crézancy-en-Sancerre, where flint meets clay and the famous Kimmeridgian limestone. Simon practices sustainable farming, and uses organic composts to treat the vines. Typically, he harvests his grapes later than his neighbors, resulting in full-bodied wines with a rich complexity. He has also transitioned away from using cultured yeasts, fermenting every wine naturally—a rare feat in an appellation where technical winemaking is still the norm. Simon’s quest for a more authentic expression of terroir has led him to isolate certain parcels on the basis of soil, experimenting with different aging vessels in the cellar (demi-muids, acacia, foudres...) to find the best match. Like his father’s music, Simon’s wines are luscious and complex with deep notes and long, satisfying finales. Sancerre Rouge “Le Chant de l’Archer:" Average Vine Age, 55 years; Wine ages both in stainless steel (70%) and fûts (30% new, 300 to 500 liter barrels); fter aging 1 year in fûts, wine is transferred to stainless steel tank for 6 months before bottling" - Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Domaine Laporte Sancerre Le Grand Rochoy 2020, 0.75L

"From silex soils, the 2020 Sancerre Le Grand Rochoy is produced from the oldest vines of this prestigious slope. The wine was vinified in stainless steel and barrels for one year and aged in the dark-tinted bottles for another six months before the release. "The 2020 Terre de Pierre is initially seductive and savory with youthful, apple sauce flavors and a delicate, leesy character. Domaine du Closel Savennieres Les Caillardieres 2019, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Savennières, Loire
"The 2019 Les Caillardières is like a piece of beef cheek that needs softening up in the slow cooker; this is almost chewy. The 2019 is young and needs time in bottle to gain its mellow character. There are masses of concentration here in a medium bodied package with buckets of structure, line and length. A very impressive style, showing both variety and texture. You can expect a touch of pastry-like characters alongside florals and apple." 94 Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous

Domaine du Salvard Cheverny Blanc 2022, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc / Chardonnay from Cheverny, Loire
"Thierry and Emmanuel Delaille of Domaine du Salvard specialize in crisp, mouthwatering Sauvignon Blanc, but for this cuvée, they add a splash of Chardonnay, which brings complexity, flesh, and notes of Meyer lemon and orchard fruit. The base of Sauvignon Blanc, meanwhile, provides freshness and liveliness as well as its characteristic flavors of passion fruit and lime zest. The two grape varieties combine for outstanding versatility, such that this bottle will serve you well alongside all kinds of seasonal spring fare." Importer Notes

Francois Chidaine Les Bournais Montlouis Sur Loire 2020, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Montlouis sur Loire, Loire
"The 2020 Les Bournais is a silky, seductive wine that retains a sense of shape despite its ripeness. The appellation of Montlouis has lots of clay-flint, but this is clay-chalk, and the result is a round yet focused style with fine length and line. The barrel fermentation and maturation (just 10% new) doesn't impart any flavor but adds to the roundness and gives support to the wine. Fully dry, you can expect ripe apple, pear and a gentle lick of sweet brioche on the medium-long length. Sourced from clay-limestone soil. Drink: 2022-2034." 92 Points, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous

Philippe Gilbert Menetou-Salon Les Chandelières Rouge 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Menetou-Salon, Loire
"Les Chandelières is an east-facing vineyard of pure Kimmeridgian limestone planted in 1970 by Philippe’s father, and Philippe renders a Pinot Noir of such purity and expressiveness here as to make a Burgundian blush. Fermented with 25% whole clusters in large open-top wood, and aged two years in a combination of used demi-muid and stainless steel, the 2015 is luscious but controlled, with clean, fresh tannins and a profound mineral core. Philippe was the first biodynamic practitioner (now certified as such) in Menetou-Salon, and the health of his fruit is brazenly apparent in the finished wines. Ultra-low sulfur (around 30 milligrams per liter of total sulfur-dioxide) and a lack of new oak make for a Pinot Noir both terroir-transparent and ravishingly delicious."Clarke Boehling, Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Serge Dagueneau Pouilly Fumé Les Pentes 2019, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Pouilly Fumé, Loire
"The 2019 Pouilly-Fumé 'les Pentes' from the Dagueneau family is a lovely example of the vintage, offering ripe, pure fruit, good mineral undertow and lovely length on the palate. The bouquet delivers scents of sweet grapefruit, fresh lime, newly-mown grass, flinty minerality and a gently floral topnote. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and complex, with a lovely core, sound acids and fine balance on the long, succulent and zesty finish. This does not have quite the cut one would expect in a racier vintage and hence, will probably age fairly briskly, but it will deliver tons of pleasure over the coming half dozen years. 2021-2027." 91 Points, John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Château Pradeaux Bandol Rouge 2015, 0.75L
Mourvèdre from Bandol, Provence
"The magic of Château Pradeaux lies in its unfettered expression of Mourvèdre, that thick-skinned, late-ripening variety which sings in its full glorious range in Bandol’s Mediterranean-hugging vineyards. Pradeaux’s 18 hectares are the nearest to the sea in the entire appellation, and they tend to harvest a full two weeks later than their neighbors. Appellation law requires at least 50% Mourvèdre in a Bandol, and while many domaines hew closer to the minimum, cushioning their wine with hearty proportions of Grenache and Cinsault, Pradeaux produces a full-strength wine of 95% Mourvèdre." Clos Saint-Joseph Côtes de Provence Syrah 2017, 0.75L
Syrah from Côtes de Provence, Provence
"While the name of the domaine honors Roch’s great-grandfather, it also brings to mind the great northern Rhône appellation Saint-Joseph. The association with fine cool-climate Syrah is not unwarranted: the grape shows a special affinity to the extreme environment of this less-traveled side of Provence, so much that Roch chose to spotlight it with a special cuvée. Thick, dense, chewy tannins frame this brawny red jam-packed with spice and savory goodness. It belongs in your cellar somewhere between the Bandols and the Hermitages." Clos Saint-Joseph I.G.P. Méditerranée Rouge 2017, 0.75L
Syrah / Grenache / Mourvèdre / Cabernet Sauvignon from Méditérranée, Provence
"In 2017, a hail storm destroyed much of Clos Saint Joseph’s red grapes. Half of this bottling comes from grapes from Clos Saint Joseph’s vines. The other half comes from donations of grapes from a large group of Provence’s top growers (an organization called Rouge Provence, intended to create solidarity among growers and promote Provence’s historic red wines) including Domaine Tempier, Domaine Hauvette, and Domaine de la Tour du Bon. All these grapes come from different AOCs (Bandol, Coteaux de Baux, Coteaux d’Aix, Coteaux Varois, Côtes de Provence), which is why the wine’s designation is I.G.P Méditerranée instead of Côtes de Provence." Domaine Tempier Bandol Rouge 2018, 0.75L
Mourvèdre / Grenache / Cinsault / Carignan from Bandol, Provence
"At Domaine Tempier grapes from our different vineyards are skillfully blended to create this wine, made up of between 70 and 75% Mourvedre (depending on the year) combined with Grenache, Cinsault and a hint (2%) of old Carignan. This fruity, well balanced wine can be enjoyed after 3 or 4 years, but develops extremely pleasant tertiary aromas (leather, animal and undergrowth) with further ageing. The wine’s balance gives it an ageing potential of 15 years or more.
The Cuvée Classique blend combines grapes from the estate’s different terroirs. In the area known as ‘Le Petit Moulin de la Cadière’, named after its windmill, the vines grow on south-facing terraces stretching out over hilly terrain. The soil in this part of the vineyard is characterised by the presence of fossilised seashells (85 million year old bivalve molluscs). Clay is found to varying depths throughout the estate’s soil and, although the clay is quite dense, alluvial layers comprised of silt-sand sediment deposits are also present. One might think these looser layers in the soil would have little influence on the wine, but in fact they provide excellent drainage which helps to produce very refined wines." Bernard Burgaud Cote-Rotie 2019, 0.75L
Syrah from Côte Rôtie, Rhône
"Saturated magenta. Powerful, mineral-driven red and blue fruit, candied violet, olive and exotic spice scents show fine definition and lift. Densely packed and energetic on the palate, offering intense, spice-accented bitter cherry, Chambord and blueberry flavors that open up with air. The blue fruit and floral notes drive an impressively long, finely detailed finish that's given grip by polished, steadily building tannins. 20% new oak." 94 Points, Josh Raynolds, Vinous, December 2022
"Closer in style to the 2018 than the 2017, the 2019 Cote Rotie is a big, rich, powerful Côte Rôtie that has loads of meaty, gamey black fruits, smoked herb, pepper, and chocolate-like aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness, a round, layered texture, terrific tannins, and a great finish, it's a powerhouse yet traditional Côte Rôtie that will need 4-5 years to shed its baby fat yet evolve for 20+ years." 93-95 Jeb Dunnuck

Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie Les Journaries 2018, 0.75L
Syrah / Viognier from Côte-Rôtie, Rhône
"An intensely perfumed nose displays mineral-accented black/blue fruit and floral pastille scents that pick up olive paste, bacon and exotic spice notes with air. In a concentrated yet energetic style, offering appealingly sweet cherry, blueberry, licorice, spicecake and candied lavender flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows outstanding clarity and mineral thrust on a wonderfully long, floral-accented finish shaped by fine-grained, slow-building tannins. 70% of this fruit comes from La Landonne and the rest is from Côte Blonde. Outside of the US, this bottling is called “Maestria.” All whole clusters; raised in mostly neutral demi-muids." 94 Points Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Chapoutier Crozes Hermitage Meysonniers 2019, 0.75L

"I loved the 2019 Crozes-Hermitage Les Meysonniers. This classy, spicy, already complex Crozes reveals a medium ruby/purple hue as well as textbook Northern Rhône notes of spiced red and black fruits, ground pepper, bouquet garni, and a touch of floral-like nuances. Château Grillet 2018, 0.75L
Viognier from Château-Grillet, Rhône
"I tasted three different components of the 2018 Château Grillet. First, from the top of the property, a round, lush, silky, long wine (94 - 96). Second, from just behind the château, a more exotic, tropical barrel that was almost kinky in its restraint, full-bodied, rich and long (96 - 98). Finally, a barrel from an adjacent parcel (also mid-slope) that shows less opulence but even more power, structure and length (97 - 99). This should prove to be another great Château Grillet. I was fortunate to have only one visit on the day I arrived in France—and to have it be at this legendary property. Purchased by the Pinault family in 2011 and managed by Frédéric Engerer (who also looks after the family's other viticultural interests—Château Latour, Clos de Tart, Domaine Eugenie, Eisele Vineyard), the quality here is still on the upswing. Korean winemaker Jaeok Cramette arrived at the property in March of this year, having moved down from Domaine Eugenie in the Côte de Nuits. She previously worked for an importer in South Korea but came to France in 2008 to pursue a winemaking degree and stayed in Burgundy afterward. Despite being a recent arrival, she was conversant with all the vineyard plots, saying of the property's four hectares, ‘I feel like I'm doing gardening, not viticulture.’ This minuscule estate recently added an adjacent parcel of Condrieu, so going forward there will be three wines released each year." 98-98 Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

"A bigger, richer wine, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes has a similar style in its peppery garrigue, lavender, scorched earth, and licorice aromatics. It’s slightly darker fruited than the base cuvée and has a rock star of a mid-palate, building, sweet tannins, and a great finish. Domaine La Manarine Côtes-du-Rhône Plan de Dieu Les Terres Saintes 2019, 0.75L
Grenache from Côtes-du-Rhône, Rhône
"The prestige cuvée of Manarine is destined for aging and bears the name: “Terres Saintes”. It is produced from a selection of lower yielding old vines (average 55 years old). Gilles destems the entire harvest and uses cement tanks for fermentation. The “Terres Saintes” (structured as a “vin de garde”) benefits from a longer “cuvaison” of 30 days or more. During the “elevage” both red wines go through “delestage” and “remontage” (a technique whereby the tank is completely emptied and the wine pumped back into it on top of the layer of skins) to extract color and flavor. Once the fermentation is complete, the wine is racked into cement vats for aging but 20% of the “Terres Saintes” is also aged for 8 months in “demi-muids” (larger barrels of 600 liter size). The wine is bottled without filtration after a 24 month “elevage”." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre from Gigondas, Rhône
"Moving to the three Gigondas I was able to taste, the 2019 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes comes from a mix of terroirs on the lower plain, around the estate, and is mostly Grenache brought up in larger, very old foudre and concrete tanks. Deep purple/ruby hued, with a beautiful perfume of black raspberries, candied flowers, and sweet garrigue, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a silky texture, great tannins, and plenty of length on the finish. This is a more finesse-driven, silky, elegant wine than past vintages and it's going to drink nicely for over a decade." - 91-93 points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Domaine de Ferrand Chateauneuf du Pape 2019, 0.75L
Grenache from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône
"Beautiful violets, wildflowers, Asian spices, lavender, and Bing cherry fruits all soar from the glass of the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape. This full-bodied, beautifully textured, seamless 2019 brings the richness of the vintage while staying light on its feet, elegant, and perfectly balanced. While the acidity is quite low (I’m sure the pH is quite high), this will age on its balance and concentration. Hats off to Philippe Bravey for another singular Châteauneuf du Pape that readers will love to have in their cellars. As usual, the blend is 85% Grenache, with the balance other permitted varieties, brought up completely in tank. It can be drunk any time over the coming 15 years or more." 95 Points, JebDunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Domaine de La Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf-du-Pape Réservé 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Syrah / Cinsault / Counoise from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône
"Lastly, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Reserve is another magical wine, and I might have rated this cuvée a perfect score more than any other Southern Rhône. Unquestionably in the same realm as the 2017, 2016, 2010, 2005, 2003, and 2001, it has an incredible, full-bodied, massive style that somehow stays perfectly balanced, with flawless integration of its fruit, tannins, acidity, and alcohol. Lots of red, blue, and black fruits, loamy earth, Asian spice, licorice, and violet nuances emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, building yet polished tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s a sexier, more opulent wine than the Les Hauts-Lieux release yet has the same perfect tannins that are so rare to find in the vintage. This required at least 4-5 years of bottle age and will drink brilliantly for 20-25+ years." 100 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

"Tasted out of bottle, the 2019 Gigondas is another gem and reminds me a little of the 2010, only with a touch more accessibility at this stage. Classic crème de cassis, sappy garrigue, pepper, and basil notes give way to a medium to full-bodied, pure, concentrated Gigondas revealing ripe tannins, terrific balance, and a great finish. As with the 2020, the blend is 78% Grenache, 14% Syrah, 6% Cinsault, and 2% Mourvèdre that was destemmed and brought up in old foudre." 94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
