Alluringly sweet and lively on the palate, offering juicy Chambord, cherry and lavender pastille flavors complemented by hints of star anise and white pepper. Smooth and seamless in texture, showing impressive finishing energy, polished tannins and sharp definition." 94 Points, Josh Raynolds Vinous

Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Monte Bello Vineyard 2016, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Petit Verdot / Cabernet Franc from Santa Cruz Mountains, California

  • One of the highlights in this tasting, the 2016 Monte Bello has turned out just as beautifully as I hoped it would. Soaring aromatics, bright acids and mid-weight structure give the 2016 a super-classic feel. Clearly, the 2016 is very primary today, with plenty of bright red and purplish berry fruit. More than that, though, the 2016 pulses with energy and simply exceptional balance. Don't miss it!" 98 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

J. Drouhin Beaune Clos des Mouches Rouge 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Beaune, Burgundy

"The 2019 Beaune Clos des Mouches 1er Cru (Rouge) contains 30% whole cluster. Dark berry fruit commingles with wet clay and light minty aromas. The palate is well balanced with a silky texture, a little "fatter" than the Beaune Grèves, with hints of licorice toward the persistent and very saline finish. This deserves four to five years in bottle, but it has a long, prosperous future ahead." 92-94 Points Neal Martin, Vinous

Newfound Gravels California 2019 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Carignane from California, California

Sourcing
In 2019 we transitioned Gravels from a Grenache dominant wine to a 50/50 marriage of Grenache and Carignane. The Grenache was sourced entirely from the Cemetery Vineyard and the Carignane entirely from the Colombini Ranch. Both sites contain similar geology and are planted in (the simplest of terms) gravel. The Grenache and all of its perfume and elegance combined with the density and nerve of the Carignane were the perfect match for our second iteration of ‘Gravels’. Thirty days separated the picks - as the Grenache arrived toward the end of August with the Carignane completing our harvest as the final pick coming in at the end of September.

Vinification
When vinifying the wine our extraction techniques favored elegance over abundance. The lots were fermented separately but employed similar methods – 100% whole cluster, wild yeasts, one simple cap-wetting per day - spending up to 35 days in total on the skins. The Grenache was aged in one 2000L Austrian oval barrel, while the Carignane was aged in one 2000L French Foudré. A total of 14 months were spent in each vessel before assembly at which point the wines were racked, blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting
Deep black cherry, herbal sage brush, lavender and melon rind aromatics. That palate combines density and a snappy freshness that makes this bottling a versatile companion for any meal or occasion. Drink now or over the next five years.

Pinot Noir from Fort Ross-Seaview, California

"This is really refined with black tea, rose petals, orange and blue fruit. It’s medium-bodied with wild-strawberry and forest-floor flavors. Medium-bodied with great vibrancy and beautiful tannins running through the center palate, which is stitched into the wine. Long and true. 100% whole-cluster fermentation. Subtle and energetic. "Readers will remember that I admired the 2019 Fleurie last year, and that hasn't changed on reacquaintance. "The final blend of the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau will include 60% to 65% Grenache, 15% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, with the remainder Cinsault. Boasting complex scents of roses, black tea, raspberries and cherries on the nose, it follows that up with a full-bodied palate that's silky and airy in texture yet flavorful and tremendously long on the finish. Ovid Proprietary Red Estate Hexameter 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc / Cabernet Sauvignon / Petit Verdot from Napa Valley, California

"More blue fruits as well as blackcurrants, leafy tobacco, chocolate, candied flowers, and baking spices all emerge from the 2018 Hexameter, and it's full-bodied, with an incredibly pure, seamless texture, polished tannins, and one heck of a great, great finish. While this is unquestionably a mountain wine, with a building sense of minerality, it has a rare sense of elegance and purity, flawless balance, and is just a heavenly, singular wine. Based on 51% Cabernet Franc, 44% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Petit Verdot, aged 20 months in 65% new French oak, it will evolve for 25-30 years." 99 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst is a fabulous wine that shows just how compelling the vintage is, even among mid-tier offerings. Blackberry, graphite, cloves, licorice and lavender all build in the glass. The Lyndenhurst Cabernet is usually much more approachable, but the 2018 is a real powerhouse. I would give the tannins at least a few years to soften. This is impressive, to say the least." 94 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie Les Journaries 2018, 0.75L
Syrah / Viognier from Côte-Rôtie, Rhône

"An intensely perfumed nose displays mineral-accented black/blue fruit and floral pastille scents that pick up olive paste, bacon and exotic spice notes with air. In a concentrated yet energetic style, offering appealingly sweet cherry, blueberry, licorice, spicecake and candied lavender flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows outstanding clarity and mineral thrust on a wonderfully long, floral-accented finish shaped by fine-grained, slow-building tannins. 70% of this fruit comes from La Landonne and the rest is from Côte Blonde. Outside of the US, this bottling is called “Maestria.” All whole clusters; raised in mostly neutral demi-muids." 94 Points Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Chanin Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Santa Maria Valley, California

"There are nine barrels of the 2019 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard, which comes from one of the top sites in the whole Central Coast. Revealing a medium gold hue as well as lots of orchard and ripe lemon fruits, it's medium to full-bodied and has classic Bien Nacido salinity, subtle toasty and nutty nuances, a solid spine of acidity, and a great, great finish. Chanin Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills, California

"I loved the 2019 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. This is a gem in the vintage that readers should snatch up. A more floral, ethereal wine, it has gorgeous cherry and framboise fruit, medium body, a tight, vibrant, focused mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a bright spine of acidity that carries through the finish. It's a stunning Pinot Noir that I'd happily put in a blind lineup with the best out there. Give it a year or two and enjoy over the following 10-15 years.97 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Savory and loaded with elegance, the medium-bodied, focused palate features juicy Meyer lemon, ripe Bartlett pear, golden apple and tangy, saline mineral notes. Antiquum Farm Pinot Noir Juel 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon

"Our son, Juel, embodies the wildness of our farm. Since he was a young boy, he has roamed freely and courageously through our 140 acres of forests, fields, and vines. This wine is a testament to his staunchly individual spirit, creativity, and joyous heart. It is a blend of the six selections of Pinot Noir grown at Antiquum Farm, which in concert convey the many dimensions of our vineyard in a complete estate wine. The 2019 Juel displays an inherent sense of movement through the entire spectrum of the vineyard, from the higher, ethereal tones at the edges to the deep and brooding middle, all tied together by a seamless and consistent structural foundation." Producer Notes, Antiquum Farm

Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 2018, 0.75L
Marsanne / Roussanne from Hermitage, Rhône

"In the end, I'm unable to definitely say that the 2017 Hermitage Blanc is better than the stupendous 2016. Of course, I sampled it just three days after it was bottled, so I've appended the + to my rating, as there's a possibility the wine may have been affected by that process. It's gently toasty but dominated at this stage by forward melon and pineapple fruit. Full-bodied and incredibly rich yet balanced, it unfolds in waves of flavor and texture, lingering for what seems like minutes on the finish. Hit it soon to enjoy its youthful opulence. . ." 96-98 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Léoville-Barton 2017, 0.375L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Julien, Bordeaux

"Léoville-Barton is one of the very few wines, from any appellation, that combines power and finesse with such grace in 2017. Rich, deep and wonderfully expressive, the 2017 has so much offer. The high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon comes through loud and clear. Inky dark, fruit, game, spice, mint, licorice and lavender all build in a wine of regal elegance and head spinning beauty. For its combination of quality and price, Léoville-Barton remains one the most consumer-friendly wines of the Left Bank. The blend is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot. The September rains were especially challenging for the Merlot and Cabernet Franc. As a result, Cabernet is pushed up in the blend, while there is no Franc at all." 96 Points Antonio Galloni,Vinous

Robert Chevillon Bourgogne Passetoutgrain 2018, 0.75L

"It would be a mistake to dismiss this Passetoutgrain as a repository for undesirable Gamay grapes and Pinot Noir leftovers that did not make the cut. At Domaine Chevillon, this humble wine is a thing of beauty: the product of old vines from just outside Nuits-Saint-Georges, it is made with the same loving care as the Chevillons’ noblest premiers crus. A blend of two-thirds Gamay with the balance of Pinot Noir, it has a gorgeous perfume of wild berries with a touch of white pepper. "The 2019 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Sec offers a deep, rich yet pure and refined, intensely aromatic, darker-toned nose with aromas of fully ripe stone and tropical fruit intertwined with earthy, chalky and yeasty notes that make up for further finesse and complexity. Full-bodied, round and fruity on the palate, this is a deep, intense, juicy, silky-textured yet tight, chalky, very complex, sustainably structured and persistently salty-mineral Chenin from old vines that give extra concentration as well as a spectacularly expressive character. This is a great, age-worthy Vouvray with fine tannins and lingering salty tension and finesse. What a finish! The 2019 needs a while to gain finesse and even more complexity. Adrien Renoir Les Vignes Goisses Extra-Brut 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Meunier from Champagne, Champagne

"From a parcel of massal selection Pinot Meunier that was planted in 1962, Renoir's inaugural 2016 Extra-Brut Grand Cru Les Vignes Goisses was disgorged in February 2020 with 0.8 grams per liter dosage. Mingling notes of pear, red berries, fresh pastry, orange oil and blanched almonds, it's medium to full-bodied, racy and incisive, with an intensely mineral—indeed, pungently saline—finish. Renoir comments that this site is defined by sandy soils over a clay-limestone base and that it has a propensity to frost: hence its cépagement. O`Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"This is such an outstanding wine at any price, but here we're talking about outstanding value as well. Notes of iron and crushed rock lead to a lengthy balance of juicy red fruit and clove. With small amounts of Merlot, Malbec, Saint-Macaire and Cabernet Franc, it shows a deft hand at blending, with lasting notes of black pepper and nuanced oak." 97 Points Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast

Gombaude-Guillot 2016, 0.75L
Merlot from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"The 2016 Gombaude Guillot offers pleasant black fruit laced with undergrowth and pressed flower scents, although I would like more delineation to manifest with time. The nicely poised palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, a fine line of acidity and hints of black pepper and clove toward the finish. A delightful Pomerol from this biodynamic estate." Neal Martin, Vinous

Hamilton Russell Vineyards Chardonnay 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Hemel-En-Aarde Valley, Walker Bay

"Unlike the Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir in the fireaffected 2019 vintage, the Chardonnay was all made with estate fruit. Entirely whole bunch-pressed for the first time, it’s a commendably bright, elegant and focused wine with less malolactic (10%) than normal, pithy acidity, a hint of stone fruit sweetness and refined 27% new French oak. Something of a triumph against the odds." 95 Points Tim Atkin MW

A one-off it may be, but it’s less earthy and backward than the estate’s normal style, combining fragrance elegance with racy red berry fruit, some clove spice, supporting tannins and stylish oak." 95 Points Tim Atkin MW

Nervi-Conterno Il Rosato 2020, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Piedmont, Piedmont

"Longtime Nervi devotees know the estate is famed for its Rosa—a pale, fragrant blend of Nebbiolo and a local grape called Uva Rara. But Roberto felt that an even more expressive rosé could be made by eliminating the Uva Rara. And he was right. But the wine is not only expressive of Nebbiolo, it also vividly communicates the nuance of Gattinara’s steep, high-elevation slopes and their volcanic gravel soils. And there’s something else that gives this noble terroir the potential to make world-class rosé: wide diurnal temperature swings, the warm days bringing the fruit to full ripeness, while the cool nights preserve freshness and acidity. The result is a delicate Nebbiolo of kaleidoscopic complexity, beautiful minerality and unusually long life. Don’t miss it." Importer Notes, Rare Wine Co.

Lancelot-Courtois Blanc de Blancs Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cramant, Champagne

"New to the Weygandt portfolio this year Champagne Lancelot-Courtois is a family business that goes back several generations. The domaine is small, only four hectares, but those four hectares are all located in grand cru villages and the vines are all forty plus years old. The wines are elegant and balanced, showing nuanced fruit and minerality. This is not a big rich style of champagne, but brighter and more elegant with a fine mousse. It is a Champagne which begs the question when isn’t it a good time for champagne. This cuvee is a blending of terroirs from the villages of Cramant, Avize, Oger, and Chouilly, made with grapes from all but his oldest plots." Importer Notes, Weygandt Wines

Coche-Dury Auxey-Duresses Rouge 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Auxey-Duresses, Burgundy

"In contrast, I have bought more Auxey-Duresses rouge from the Coche family than any other wine from them and have always been delighted with how beautifully this wine ages in my cellar. The 2017 is another stellar bottle in the making, offering up a complex bouquet of black cherries, plums, chocolate, chalky soil tones, woodsmoke, gamebird and a touch of new wood. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and already starting to get a bit velvety on the attack, with a lovely core of fruit, suave tannins and lovely focus and grip on the complex and perfectly balanced finish. Most young vintages of Coche Auxey are quite red fruity in personality, but the 2017 is more black fruity than customary, though no less refined and potentially elegant! "As I mentioned in the introduction, the 2017 red wines from the domaine are stellar this year, and this starts right out with this lovely Bourgogne Rouge. The bouquet is really lovely, wafting from the glass in a mix of red and black cherries, woodsmoke, a touch of gamebird, dark soil tones and a bit of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, focused and shows off a lovely core, with good soil signature, just a touch of tannin and a long, vibrant finish. Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, California

"Readers looking to get a taste of the impeccable quality and style from Schrader at a more affordable price point would do well to check out the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Double Diamond. Coming all from Oakville, it has a classic Cabernet nose of black and blue fruits, green tobacco, cedar pencil, damp earth, and chocolate. It's not over the top and has beautiful varietal character as well as medium to full body, ripe yet present tannins, good overall freshness, and a great finish. This is beautifully done and well worth a case purchase. I'd lean toward drinking bottles over the coming 10-12 years, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see it evolve longer. "The Domaine Juillot 2018 Clos des Barraults rouge is another outstanding wine in the making, with the vintage’s character giving the wine a quite black fruity personality this year. The wine offers up a refined aromatic constellation of dark berries, black cherries, a touch of pomegranate, roasted venison, a complex base of soil, fire pit, fresh thyme and a nice touch of spicy oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, complex and well-balanced, with excellent depth in the mid-palate, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, tangy and promising finish. All this lovely wine needs is bottle age."  92+ Points John Gilman, View from the CellarJohn Gilman, View from the Cellar

Vieux Château Certan 2020, 0.75L
Merlot from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"The 2020 Vieux Château Certan is a blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, picked on the 14th to the 24th of September for the Merlot, then on the 28th and 29th of September for the Cabernet Franc. The pH is 3.77 and the alcohol is 14.5%. Deep purple-black colored, it needs considerable coaxing, swirling and a lot of patience before it finally lets rip an intoxicating perfume of ripe, juicy black plums, Morello cherries, candied violets, black truffles and crushed rocks, giving way to hints of black tea, molten licorice and Sichuan pepper, plus a waft of dusty red soil. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers achingly ripe, silt-like tannins and shimmering freshness that melds with the black fruits and earthy layers with jaw-dropping seamlessness, finishing with layer upon layer of mineral and savory suggestions and, finally, a gorgeous floral whisper. There are going to be two ways to approach this: 1) Just let the remarkably sensual, inexplicable beauty of it wash over you or 2) Try to unravel all those intricate layers and have it blow you mind. Either way, this is simply an incredible achievement—bravo Alexandre and Guillaume Thienpont!" 98-100 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

This plot of vines on the Arianna Vineyard in Gualtallary has very shallow soils and an east exposure, which, combined with the vintage, has produced a very fresh and elegant wine, full of energy and light. It has refined tannins and very clean and focused flavors. 5,802 bottles were filled in December 2019." 94 Points Luis Gutiérrez, The Wine Advocate

Piedrasassi Syrah Bien Nacido Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Maria Valley, California

"The 2018 Syrah Bien Nacido is a dark, beguiling beauty. Purplish/black fruit, spice, lavender, licorice and black pepper give the Bien Nacido a distinctly sepia-toned profile. Time in the glass brings out striking Syrah aromatics, but the 2018 remains a brooding, muscular wine with tons of depth and potent tannins that need time to soften." 95 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"Piquant, tart and snappy aromas of underripe berries and plums meet with lavender and crumpled dahlia on the nose of this bottling. The white-pepper, wild-thyme and bay leaf flavors are focused and pure on the palate, where black-plum and more lavender tones make for a fresh, lightly bodied and zesty expression." 95 Points Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast

Beauséjour Duffau-Lagarrosse 2020, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The 2020 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse is one of the most harmonious young wines I have tasted here in some time, maybe ever. All the elements are so well put together. The tannins that can usually be so fierce when the wine is young are totally covered by layers of inky dark fruit. Graphite, wild herbs, lavender, chocolate and gravel add layers of aromatic nuance. In the glass, the 2020 towers with its imposing, vertical structure and pure pedigree.” 95-98 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

La Conseillante 2020, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"The 2020 La Conseillante is a blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc. Seventy percent of the wine is being aged in new French oak barriques, 27% in second-fill barrels and 3% in amphorae. The alcohol came in at 14% and the pH is 3.64. Deep purple-black colored, it sails gracefully out of the glass with vivacious notes of black raspberries, kirsch and redcurrant jelly, leading to suggestions of ripe, juicy blackberries, violets, star anise and iron ore with a faint waft of dried mint. The medium to full-bodied palate is an exercise in elegance, delivering a quiet intensity of pure, energetic red and black berry layers with gorgeous floral and mineral sparks, framed by perfectly ripe, finely pixilated tannins and seamless freshness, finishing with epic length and the most breathtaking perfume. Simply mind-blowing.” 97-99 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Figeac 2020, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

“The 2020 Figeac is a blend of 37% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc and 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, weighing in with an alcohol of 13.9% and a pH of 3.7. Opaque purple-black colored, it bursts from the glass with a beautifully vibrant initial wave of pure, pristine black fruits: fresh black cherries, juicy black plums and ripe blackcurrants. With swirling, a whole array of floral and spice notes is unleashed: lavender, ground cloves, cumin seed, cardamom and rose oil. The medium-bodied palate is surprisingly graceful for the intensity of aromas, featuring ethereal, perfumed black berry notes, framed by a seamless line of freshness and ripe, grainy tannins, finishing on a lingering fragrant earth note. Far more cerebral and quietly introspective than it is hedonic, this could only be Figeac." 96-98+ Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Ducru-Beaucaillou 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Julien, Bordeaux

“A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, brought up in new oak, the 2020 Château Ducru-Beaucaillou offers a gorgeously pure nose of crème de cassis, graphite, crushed stone, toasty oak, and lead pencil shavings. Full-bodied, concentrated, and structured, it reminds me of a hypothetical mix of the 2010 and 2016, offering serious concentration paired with a gorgeous sense of precision and purity. It's going to take a decade of cellaring to hit the early stages of maturity (it will have some up-front appeal if you're interested) yet evolve for 50 years or more. Along with the Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, it might be the wine of the vintage from the Médoc." 97-99 Points Jeb Dunnuck

"The Sori della Sorba 2019 Langhe Nebbiolo is beautifully bright and pure. The wine strikes at the heart of the Nebbiolo grape, offering you a slice of its very essence, completely unadulterated by any outside factors. The bouquet reveals spicy fruit, blueberry and light cassis. Background tones of rusty earth, terracotta and pressed blue flowers also appear. You might recognize crushed white pepper and grilled herb. This biodynamic expression of Nebbiolo captures the most honest and transparent side of this noble Piedmont grape. “A serious wall of blueberry and blackberry compote, and a ton of savoury Cabernet sinew and freshness. This is a great Montrose, inky, broad-shouldered and structured. It needs time to aerate and open in the glass, then you see the precision, the heft, the chiselling of the fruits with a ton of graphite, cigar box and campfire smoke - huge persistency. This will need a long time and will reward patience. One of the few where a 1986, 2016 and 2010 comparison makes sense. A yield around 30hl/ha. 1% Petit Verdot, 3.86pH, IPT 80. 45% of the overall production.” 98 Points Jane Anson, Decanter

Julian Haart Riesling JJ Kabinett 2020, 0.75L
Riesling from Mosel, Mosel

"Julian Haart's "J.J." 2020 is a selection of grapes from Piesporter Goldtröpfchen with 10% from Piesporter Falkenberg. The two parts result in a picture-perfect cabinet full of freshness and yellow-green aromas, fine spice and a lively acidic structure. J.J. is, of course, a reference to one of Julian's heroes in this winemaking style, as this is a tribute to the feather-weight and delicate Kabinetts made for decades by Manfred Prüm at Weingut J.J. Prüm in Wehlen. While it has been produced in small quantities in the past, this is the first time it's making its way to the United States due to 2020 being an absolutely ideal vintage for Kabinett. A cool September helped retain blazing levels of acidity and rains in mid-October meant that harvest was wrapped up early. Parcels whose produce normally would have been destined for Spätlese or Auslese instead found a happy home at the Kabinett prädikat level. . ." Importer Notes, Vom Boden

Julian Haart Riesling 1,000L 2020, 0.75L
Riesling from Mosel, Mosel

"1,000L comes from many younger vine parcels (around 25-years old or younger) in the Goldtröpfchen that are blended together then fermented and matured in 1,000L old oak barrels called fuders. While this wine often straddles the line between dry and off-dry, the 2020 is decidedly trocken, with about 7 g/L RS and ample acidity. The name of the wine is, as you can probably guess, a tribute to the classic Mosel fuders in which it was raised – the standard size barrel that was used exclusively on the Mosel for centuries before the advent of stainless steel technology. Lip-smacking, refreshing, every-day wine from one of the young masters on the Mosel." Importer Notes, Vom Boden

The Merlot was picked between the 11th and the 14th of September, and the Cabernet Franc was picked on the 16th of September. It has an alcohol of 14.4% and is aging in French oak barrels, 80% new. Displaying and opaque purple-black color, it needs a bit of swirling to reveal a fascinating array of earthy notes—black truffles, charcoal, mossy tree bark and fallen leaves—over a profound core of preserved plums, blackberry preserves and violets, with a waft of tapenade. The medium to full-bodied palate has exquisitely ripe tannins and bold freshness supporting the seductively ripe, black fruit layers, finishing on a lingering fragrant earth note." 97-99 Points Lisa Perrotti-Brown, The Wine Advocate

Calon-Ségur 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Estephe, Bordeaux

"If you are not familiar with everything going on with Calon Segur these days, you need to taste this wine. Deeply colored, without hesitation the wine shoots from the glass with Asian spice, boysenberry, black currants, cedar, cigar box, tobacco leaf, lead pencil and forest leaf. Full-bodied, concentrated, powerful and rich, yet it is also balanced, refined, and intense. There is purity in the fruits, freshness and symmetry, ending with seamless waves of perfectly ripe, creme de cassis. Let this rest for at least a decade and enjoy for 3 or more decades after that. The wine blends 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. 13.8% ABV." 96-98 Points Jeff Leve, The Wine Cellar Insider

Pape Clément 2020, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon from Pessac Léognan, Bordeaux

"Ranking with the top wines of the vintage, the dense purple-hued 2020 Château Pape Clement offers a sensational bouquet of pure crème de cassis interwoven with notes of liquid violets and classy oak. Possessing flawless balance, full-bodied richness, and ultra-fine tannins, it excels in this vintage and has a pretty, elegant, yet also layered and concentrated profile. It will drink well with just short-term cellaring yet evolve gracefully for 20-30 years. I was able to taste this on multiple occasions, and it always checked in near the upper end of the scale. Clinet 2020, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"Deep and dark in color, the perfume instantly shoots out its notes of flowers, spearmint, licorice, plums, black cherry, smoke and espresso. Full-bodied, velvety, opulent, sensuous and sexy, the wine is dense, long and silky on your palate. The finish really sticks with you, which is a good thing because you never want this voluptuous stunner to end. The fruits show a remarkable sense of purity, leaving you with over 50 seconds of hedonistic pleasure. This is the best Clinet since 2010. The wine is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% AVB, 3.7 pH, with no touch of heat. Pichon Baron 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Pauillac, Bordeaux

"Richly colored with purple around the edges the wine struts its creme de cassis, tobacco, cigar box, earthy, forest floor and peppery spice nose with ease. On the palate the wine is round, polished, sweet, fresh, ripe, long and elegant. This is a refined, classic, potentially forward vintage of Pichon Baron that should start showing quite well with just a decade of aging. Morgen Long Chardonnay Memorie II NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Willamette Valley, Oregon

This is the second release of the “Memorie” bottling of chardonnay from Seth Long. The wine is produced from a solera that Seth started with in the 2015 vintage (with just a whisper of 2014 juice added at the outset), so it is a multi vintage blend that will get more complex with each passing year. The fruit comes from seven different vineyards and the blend is now composed of six different vintages, so it is progressing geometrically at this point. The breakdown of vintages in the blend this year runs thus: twenty-one percent 2019, twenty-two 30 percent 2018, twenty-three percent 2017, ten percent 2016, twenty-three percent 2015 and a whisper of 2014 juice. The wine offers up a beautiful nose, wafting from the glass in a blend of apple, lemon, hazelnut, a complex base of soil elements, honeysuckle, citrus zest and a hint of oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and
complex, with a lovely core, fine soil undertow, zesty acids and a long, poised and beautifully balanced finish. I love the backend lift here! Unlike several of the youthful 2019s from Seth this year, the Memorie II is drinking just splendidly right from the outset and will require no patience before it is savored. However, it has an excellent spine of acidity and will have no difficulties also aging gracefully in bottle! Stunning juice.""

Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pauillac, Bordeaux

"The 2020 Pichon-Lalande has a backward nose similar to that of its neighbor Pichon-Baron, and so I decanted the bottle for 45 minutes. It then revealed gorgeous scents of blackberry, wild hedgerow, seaweed (Japanese nori) and wild mint. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit and gentle but insistent grip. Very intense but not ripe; there is a coolness about this Pauillac that I like, while the finish is very classically styled and leaves behind a persistent, slightly briny aftertaste. This is a magnificent, cerebral Pichon-Lalande that will deserve serious aging and the patience of anyone still waiting for The Cure's new album. Tasted three times, including directly from the château." 96-98 Points Neal Martin, Vinous

d'Issan 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Margaux, Bordeaux

"This is a sinewy, powerful and forward-moving wine with a sense of momentum. Moreish, with the elegance and plump damson fruits that Issan delivers so well, but more muscular than some years with the impact of both Petit Verdot and Malbec that are in the blend for the first time in this vintage. These add layers of spice and the overall architecture is clear. Peony and violet notes add a kick upwards on the finish, this has a delicacy even though it is intense. Less Cabernet in the blend in 2020 than in 2019, as is often the case in the Médoc due to low yields. This new blend in Issan will be seen going forward after the addition of plots from the purchase of Château Pontac-Lynch." 96 Points Jane Anson, Decanter

Matthiasson Cabernet Sauvignon Village No. 3 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Sometimes you just want an honest glass of Cabernet. Refreshing, flavorful, not too heavy, and not too light. A Cab for drinking at the table, not looking at in the cellar. And a Napa Cab that doesn’t break the bank. A “Village” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. A bright lively wine with lots of flavor that is great with food. We blended a “table Cab” from delicious lots of our wine that didn’t quite make it into our Matthiasson Cabernet blend but that taste great together as a “Village” wine.

Village Cab No. 3 is a blend of wines from multiple vineyards throughout Napa Valley, from Rutherford down to Oak Knoll, all of which were organically farmed, fermented, and aged by us and us alone."

Louis Michel Chablis Butteaux Vielles Vignes 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"The 2018 old vine bottling of Butteaux is just a whisper riper than the regular cuvée, coming in at thirteen percent octane, but more structured, deeper and asking for a bit of time alone in the cellar to fully blossom. The youthful nose delivers a fine constellation of green apple, pear, flinty soil tones, smoke and dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with a very good structural chassis, impressive backend minerality and a very long, pure and nascently complex finish. This will be simply outstanding in the fullness of time, but will need some bottle age to really blossom." 94 Points John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Brane-Cantenac 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Margaux, Bordeaux

"The 2020 Brane-Cantenac was picked September 14–28 and includes 13% vin de presse. It has exactly the same blend as last year since Henri Lurton and his team did not limit the Grand Vin to the 30-hectare plateau, a similar approach to Pichon-Baron when they reorganized their own vineyard. I allowed my sample an hour to open (during which I was discussing the wine with Lurton over Zoom). It has a beautifully defined bouquet of blackberry, wild hedgerow, fresh mint and light bay leaf scents. I have sometimes found a little greenness on the nose, but there is none in 2020. The palate is very well balanced with finely chiseled, precise tannins and beautifully judged acidity. Harmonious and poised, this is an absolutely fantastic Brane-Cantenac, in my mind superior to the previous two vintages, exuding wonderful mineralité on the finish. A must-buy." 95-97 Points Neal Martin, Vinous

The Kyoto Distillery Ki No Bi Kyoto Dry Gin NV, 0.75L
Gin from Kyoto, Kyoto

"KI NO BI (“The Beauty of the Seasons”) is inspired by tradition and is distilled, blended and bottled in Kyoto. Our gin is made in a recognisably dry style, but with a distinct Japanese accent.

KI NO BI Kyoto Dry Gin is created with Japanese botanicals such as yellow yuzu from the north of Kyoto Prefecture, hinoki wood chips (Japanese cypress), bamboo, gyokuro tea from the Uji region and green sanshō (Japanese peppercorn) berries. Bottled at 45.7% abv, KI NO BI uses a rice spirit base and pure ground water sourced from the famous sake-brewing district of Fushimi.

Mastering not only the science of distillation as others have done before, but also the age-old art of blending, we separate the botanicals in our gin into 6 Elements: Base, Citrus, Tea, Herbal, Spice and Fruity & Floral, and distil each category individually. Then we blend them in perfect harmony to create the distinctive KI NO BI flavour." Producer Notes, Kyoto Distillery

Passopisciaro Etna Rosso Passorosso 2018, 0.75L
Nerello Mascalese from Terre Siciliane, Sicily

"The 2018 Passorosso transports you to the ashen slopes of Etna with a display of crushed rocks, black raspberry, wild brush herbs and hints of smoke. It’s soft and understated, impressing more with its purity of fruit and lifting acidity, as a subtle layer of fine tannin collects upon the senses. This concludes structured with rosy inner florals and hints of strawberry. It may not be the most vibrant or flashy vintage of Passorosso, but it is remarkably pretty." 90 Points Eric Guido, Vinous

Robert Craig Cabernet Sauvignon Affinity 2012, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"The least expensive wine is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Affinity, the estate Cabernet Sauvignon from the foothills just south of Stag’s Leap blended with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. An absolutely stunning value in Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, the wine has an inky/purple color, a big sweet kiss of créme de cassis, spice box, mocha and assorted black fruits. It is full-bodied and ripe with low acidity and sweet tannins. This wine is showy and up front, but has enough stuffing to last 7-10 years or more. Robert Craig is still one of the most consistent wineries in terms of quality and keeping pricing within realistic levels, not something frequently seen in Napa Valley." 92 Points Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate

Haut-Segottes 2014, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The 2014 Haut-Segottes is one of the under-the-radar jewels of the year. Silky and nuanced in the glass, but with striking depth, the 2014 exudes class. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and new leather are all nicely pushed forward. The tannins are a bit firmer than I recall seeing from barrel. I tasted the 2014 from a half-bottle sample, which is about the worst and least flattering way for an estate to show a wine. The blend is 60 % Merlot and 40 % Cabernet Franc. Hubert de Boüard is the consulting winemaker." 90 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Celler Credo Miranius 2019, 0.75L
Xarel-lo from Penedés, Penedés

"“Miranius”—which translates loosely into Catalan as “peers into nests” (a tribute to the foxes which sometimes roam their biodiverse vineyards looking for a snack)—is 100% Xarel-lo, in part from some of the estate’s younger vines, and in part from fruit purchased from a handful of biodynamically farming friends in the immediate area. Fermentation proceeds spontaneously in stainless steel, and the wine rests on its fine lees in steel for six months before being bottled with a non-sterile filtration and a minuscule dose of sulfur. “Miranius” displays the brisk, agile side of Xarel-lo, a variety whose relatively neutral fruit character allows for a powerful articulation of calcareous minerality. Xarel-lo’s naturally high acidity brings balance in this warm Mediterranean climate, and indeed this wine is bright, saline, and immensely refreshing, as well as a tremendous value." Importer Notes, Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Montanet-Thoden Bourgogne Vézelay Blanc Galerne 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Bourgogne Vézelay, Burgundy

"From a number of small parcels, with soils rich in clay, the 2018 Vézelay Galerne exhibits notes of citrus oil, green apple and freshly baked bread. Medium-bodied, bright and lively, with chalky structure and a saline finish, it's a pretty, immediate white that is already drinking well.William Kelley, The Wine Advocate

Raúl Pérez Palomino Valdecanada 2019, 0.75L
Palomino from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"The 2019 Palomino from Raúl Pérez is a lovely wine, offering up a bright and complex nose of lemon, bread fruit, salted almonds, stony soil tones and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is vibrant, full-bodied and complex, with a fine girdle of acidity, an excellent core of fruit, lovely balance and focus and a long, zesty finish. Fine juice." 92 Points John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Raúl Pérez Riesling Selten 2019, 0.75L
Riesling from Castilla y León, Castilla y León

"Bright straw-gold. An expansive, complex bouquet evokes ripe orchard and pit fruit nectar, honey, floral and pungent herb qualities and a hint of smokiness. Plush, seamless and concentrated in style, offering sappy, gently sweet pear, nectarine, orange, mace and marzipan flavors braced by a core of juicy acidity. Shows superb definition and tenacity on the finish, which displays an intriguing push/pull of depth and vivacity." 93 Points Josh Raynolds, Vinous

"The 2019 Román Zinfandel (blended with 4% Barbera and 2% Petite Sirah) has a medium ruby-purple color and gregarious scents of candied peach, wild berry preserves, orange peel and tar. Bruno Verdi Pinot Grigio 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Gris from Oltrepò Pavese Pinot Grigio, Lombardy

"The grapes are harvested by hand from vineyards in both Canneto Pavese and the adjacent commune of Castana. The wine is fermented and aged in stainless steel at a low temperature and the wine is bottled at the end of winter to capture its freshness. Verdi’s Pinot Grigio is a fine, elegant wine of great balance and relatively low alcohol (11.5%)." Importer Notes, Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Bitouzet-Prieur Bourgogne Blanc 2017, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Bourgogne, Burgundy

"A whiff of matchstick character sits atop the aromas of petrol, pear and apple. There is good energy to the slightly richer and more voluminous flavors that conclude in a complex and markedly dry finish. This is quite good for its level plus it will age for a few years too."  Outstanding Top Value  / Allen Meadows, Burghound

"The parcel for this cuvée is the lieu-dit in Meursault known as “Les Herbeaux”, in the northern quadrant of Meursault just underneath the 1er Cru “Les Malpoiriers”. Bitouzet exploits 0.71 hectares and the vines were planted in 1953 with a section recently replanted in 2010 which is not yet in production." Importer Notes, Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Romanelli Umbria Le Tese 2017, 0.75L
Trebbiano from Umbria, Umbria

"It is with the desire to rediscover the traditions of our territory that we have progressively approached Trebbiano Spoletino, an ancient white grape variety that has always been cultivated in this area of Umbria. A wine of great charm, very fragrant, rich in matter and always characterized by a marked acidity. Excellent vintage, it acquires complexity with the passing of the seasons. A white wine from its own vineyards (partly from old vines married to the trees in the "plain" area of Montefalco) which is vinified with a long maceration on the skins and left to mature for about 9 months in steel tanks only before a further 9 months in the bottle." Lady of the Sunshine Pinot Noir / Sauvignon Blanc Rosé 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Sauvignon Blanc from Edna Valley, California

"This wine is a blend of clone 2A Pinot Noir from the certified biodynamic Chene Vineyard I farm, and Clone 1 Sauvignon Blanc from the neighboring, Oliver's Vineyard, both in Edna Valley.  Both grapes were foot stomped and soaked on skins for 24 hours before whole bunch pressing. The juice was fermented separately with native yeast in neutral oak barrels and aged on lees for 8 months before it's first racking to blend before bottling, unfined and unfiltered. Think pink lemonade, citrus popsicles & summertime cherries" Producer Notes, Lady of the Sunshine

Samuel Louis Smith Syrah Sandstone Terrace 2019, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Cruz Mountains, California

"A blend of fruit from the Gali and Zayante vineyards, this is a firmly built Syrah, starting with aromas of freshly smashed elderberry and boysenberry as well as dried meat, tar and cracked peppercorn. There is a taut tension to the sip, where precise black raspberry and rose-petal flavors pair up." 93 Points Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast

Chardonnay from Sta. Rita Hills, California

"Pale gold and light-medium bodied. Aromas of pineapple, lemon zest, jasmine, and vanilla bean are supported by flavors of lemon meringue and toasted brioche. Descendientes de José Palacios Bierzo Pètalos 2019, 0.75L
Mencía from Bierzo, Castilla y León

"The 2019 Pètalos from the Ricardo Perez’s and Alvaro Palacios’ Bierzo project, Descendientes de J. Palacios, is a superb young bottle of Mencía. The wine offers a pure and complex bouquet of dark berries, graphite, pomegranate, a hint of anise, stony minerality, tree bark and a bit of chicory in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with a fine core, excellent soil signature and grip, ripe tannins and a long, complex and very promising finish. This bottling is designed for early drinking, but to my palate, the excellent 2019 Pètalos is too serious to drink without giving it at least a handful of years in the cellar to let some of its backend tannins soften up and more of the submerged complexity here to surface. This is excellent." 93 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Domaine Frantz Chagnoleau Saint-Véran à la Côte 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Saint-Véran, Burgundy

"The 2019 Saint-Véran à la Côte has a similar nose to the La Fournaise: very precise and terroir-driven with slate-like scents and hints of white flower. The palate is well balanced with a rounded opening. This is another powerful Saint-Véran from the Domaine with a pithy, caramelized pear and ginger infused finish that lingers. Excellent." 91 Points Neal Martin, Vinous

Domaine Du Nozay Sancerre La Plante Froide 2019, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, Loire

"The soils of “La Plante Froide” are poorer and stonier than those of “La Marâtre,” and its 35-year-old vines—among the domaine’s oldest—yield a wine of crystalline minerality, lifted fruit, and harmonious elegance. It constitutes a notable step up in complexity from the previous cuvées, offering a longer and more blatantly saline finish, yet it still displays a satisfying and unforced generosity on the palate. Cyril employs old 500-liter oak barrels for around half of this wine during its 12-month elevage, using the aforementioned barrel-shaped steel tanks for the rest, and their presence is felt not in any oak flavors but in a certain lengthening of texture and refinement of minerality."
