Aldo Conterno Langhe Nebbiolo Il Favot 2021, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Langhe, Piedmont
“Complex nose of watermelon, cocoa, strawberry, peony and kiwi peel, the palate zesty with rustic yet malleable tannins. A magnetic sip. Grapes from young vineyards in Barolo, the must fermented in stainless steel with three to four days of post-fermentation maceration. After malolactic fermentation in wood, the wine matures for 12 months in second-fill barriques previously used for the Bussiador Chardonnay. (Drink between 2024-2034).” 94, Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter, Mar 2024

Aldo Conterno Barolo Bussia Colonnello 2020, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont
“From the heart of Bussia comes a great classic of Barolo. The wine displays an intoxicating perfume of red fruits and yellow-fleshed fruits, violet, dried cherry, watermelon and liquorice, also with a bloody hint at the back. Integrated and tight-knit between fruit and acidity, with young, muscular but velvety tannins and a slightly bitter finish due to the magnesium in the soils. The Mascot Proprietary Red 2020, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Napa Valley, California
A mild winter with scant rainfall introduced the 2020 growing season. Conditions remained pleasantly even-keeled throughout the spring, except for some light precipitation in March. It is worth noting that decades of research and steady viticultural progress have enabled our vines to begin achieving tannin and textural ripeness earlier in the season, and this fact—along with the drought conditions experienced in preceding years—led to one of the earliest picking windows in our history. This development proved crucial to the 2020 vintage, when we were fortunate to have fully completed our harvest before the Glass Fire began in late September. A vibrant purity manifests within this vintage’s generosity, which advances without excess of weight or volume. Aromas of gentle red fruit give way, eventually, to a savory darkness and finely wrought core. An effortless, structural tension transforms into a silky softness on the palate that envelopes The Mascot’s inner depth and dimension. The 2020 vintage resonates rather than roars: its intricate threads of tannin, acidity, and nuance interweave to form a complete expression that shimmers with sensory detail. Winery Notes

Xavier Gerard Côte-Rôtie 2021, 0.75L
Syrah from Côte-Rôtie, Rhône
An assemblage of the estate’s finest parcels, the single Côte-Rôtie cuvée produced at the Gérard domaine is sourced principally from the Mollard lieu-dit (65%) with the balance a mix of Font-Jean, Viallière, and La Landonne. At vinification, a significant portion is left whole clusters. This is a finer expression of the appellation than many of its counterparts along the slope, with a purity of fruit and finesse to the tannins. Although its profile is marked by a regal elegance that makes this wine seductively drinkable in its youth, older examples offer strong testimony that the Côte-Rôtie from Domaine Gérard has the capacity to provide a pure and tenacious expression of this noble terroir for decades in the bottle. Domaine du Vieux Telegraphe Chataneauf de Pape La Crau 2020, 1.5L
Grenache / Mourvèdre / Syrah / Cinsault from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône
“This amazing Chateauneuf-du-Pape squares the circle of southern richness and spring-like freshness in spite of coming from a very warm and dry vintage. The stony minerality, saltiness and dried flower character wind together to form a dynamic whole, driving this gracefully across the palate. But I must also mention the savory and licorice richness that is so deftly wrapped around them. Very long, salty and velvety finish. Drink or hold.” 97, Stuart Pigott, James Suckling, Nov 2023
“This shows a lot of aromatic appeal, with dusty earth and singed incense notes covering a well of fresh cherry and red currant flavors. A gutsy, grippy style on the palate, with a cast iron spine bringing firm shape and underlying power. Slightly old-school, this still needs time to unfurl. Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault. Best from 2025 through 2035. 7,500 cases made, 2,500 cases imported.” 94, Kristen Bieler, Wine Spectator, Mar 2024

"Composed of 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Sémillon, the 2022 Y d'Yquem has 6 grams per liter of residual sugar. Fontodi Chianti Classico DOCG 2021, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Chianti Classico, Tuscany
“The 2021 Chianti Classico is classic wine from the estate, done in the more restrained style that has become the norm here of late. There's plenty of Panzano richness, but more energy and less heaviness than what was common just a few years ago. Giovanni Manetti and his team have given the Chianti Classico gorgeous refinement. Spice, flowers, mocha and blue fruits linger, wrapped together by ultra-finessed tannins. The 2021 spent 20-22 months in barrel—65% cask and 35% neutral French oak barriques.” 94, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Jun 2024

Doyard Extra Brut 'Monts Ferrés' 1er Cru 2016, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne
“Disgorged this year with 0.6 grams per liter dosage, the 2016 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Monts Ferrés unwinds in the glass with aromas of crisp nashi pear, yellow stone fruit, mirabelle plum, buttery pastry, honeycomb and oyster shell. Full-bodied, pure and seamless, it's deep, enveloping and vinous, with a tensile spine of acidity, an ultra-refined mousse and a long, saline finish. Produced from a parcel in Vertus that was farmed organically and biodynamically, this is one of two lieu-dit bottlings produced by Charles Doyard before his untimely passing in 2017.” 97, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Dec 2023

Henriot Cuvee Hemera Grand Cru 2006, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
“The 2006 Henriot “Cuvée Hemera” is a beautifully refined, complex and youthful example of the vintage. The wine is composed from a cépages of fifty percent each chardonnay and pinot noir, sourced from some of the very finest crus in all of Champagne. The pinot noir hails from the Montagne de Reims villages of Verzy, Verzenay and Mailly, while the chardonnay comes from Avize, Chouilly and Mesnil-sur-Oger in the Côte de Blancs. The wine was aged twelve years sur latte and finished with a dosage of five grams per liter. The wine is truly stunning on the nose, wafting from the glass in an elegant blend of apple, pear, a touch of hazelnut, warm bread, a beautiful base of soil and plenty of upper register smokiness. On the palate the wine is deep, pure and full-bodied, with a superb core of fruit, bright, zesty acids, precise focus, elegant mousse and a very long, complex finish that beautifully weaves fruit tones with mineral undertow. The 2006 vintage was a hot year and this wine’s steely spine of acidity and impeccable balance are testament to just how great a bottle the Hemera has turned out to be! I cannot wait to taste it in a more classically racy vintage like 2008 or 2012! Great juice. (Drink between 2022-2050).” 95, John Gilman, View From The Cellar, May 2022

Bollinger La Grande Annee Brut 2015, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
“Bollinger's 2015 Brut Grand Année is an intriguing wine in that is clearly reflects the decision to pick on the later side in order to avoid vegetal notes derived from the mismatch of alcoholic and phenolic ripeness. "Balance was hard to achieve in 2015," Chef de Cave Denis Bunner notes. "At 10% in sugar, the fruit was simply not ripe. We had to wait to reach the optimal window of ripeness." Bunner also opted to increase the Chardonnay, so the blend is 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, as opposed to the more typical 70/30 blend, with more Verzenay than Aÿ in the Pinots. Dried citrus peel, sage, menthol, sage, tangerine peel and spice build with some coaxing. Light tropical overtones develop with aeration. There's real density and textural richness here. This will be a fascinating vintage to follow. Stylistically, it is the complete opposite from the much more linear 2014 that precedes it. Dosage is 8 grams per liter. Disgorged: June 2023.”

Diebolt-Vallois Blanc de Blancs Extra Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cramant, Champagne
“The NV Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs is mostly based on 2020, picked in Chouilly, Cuis and Epernay. An immediate hit of saltiness on the nose announces that this is not about fruit but soil. Fine mousse and bright slenderness immediately spell elegance and verve. Concentration on the mid-palate, despite the svelte body, brings salty depth and a touch of blond baguette crust. Freshness, verve and elegance make this a quintessential, taut blanc de blancs. It's apero or oysters, you decide. Dosage is 3gr/L. Michel Gonet Grand Cru Les Mesnil Sur Oger Bland de Blancs 2015, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne
“Disgorged in June 2023, with zero dosage, the 2015 Champagne Grand Cru Mesnil-Sur-Oger pours a bright yellow/silver color, and is ripe with aromas of bread dough, baker’s yeast, fresh honeysuckle, and preserved lemon. It packs in a lot of electricity and intensity on the palate, with a broad core of citrus that powers through, and although it’s medium-bodied, it fills those shoes to the max with its drive. Persistent with citrus and vibrant acidity, it offers an energetic and full mousse to balance it all out. Packed with notes of citrus oils on the palate, it’s a very strong effort from the vintage that may well surprise in terms of its aging potential. R. López de Heredia Viña Tondonia Rioja Reserva 2012, 0.75L
Tempranillo Blend from Rioja Alta, La Rioja
“The 2012 “Viña Tondonia” Reserva from López de Heredia has just been released. The wine is crafted this year from the same cépages as was the case with the lovely 2011 version, which I reported on in the last issue: seventy percent tempranillo, twenty percent garnacha and ten percent from a mix of mazuelo and graciano. The wine spent six years in older American oak barrels of two hundred-twenty-five liter capacity prior to bottling. The wine is nicely classic in its octane in this vintage, coming in at an even thirteen percent and offering up a complex bouquet of red and black raspberries, spiced meats, cigar wrapper, salty soil tones, clove-like Rioja spices, woodsmoke and a bit of spicy oak. On the palate the wine is vibrant, full-bodied, focused and still quite youthful at twelve years of age, with a lovely core of fruit, excellent soil signature and grip, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, well balanced and complex finish. This is certainly approachable, but my inclination would be to bury it away in the cellar for another five to ten years, let its tannins properly fall away and really enjoy the fireworks! Krug Grande Cuvee 172eme Edition Brut NV, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
“The 172ème édition, based around the 2016 vintage, is a delicate, floral and saline Grande Cuvée at this early stage in its life. The palate it taut, tightly wound, gradually unfurling into toasted fruit bread, rye bread and roasted nuts, wrapped around an intricate and taut lemon core. It's exceptionally long, spicy, rounded and spherical in shape. Notes of sweet unsalted butter round out the finish, which has such length, elegance and balance. 58% of the wine is from the 2016 vintage, which saw a lot of rain in the spring and close to flowering, with 42% from reserve wines. The blend is made up of 146 separately vinified wines from 11 different years, and the oldest wine in the blend is from the 1998 vintage.” 97, Natalie Earl, Decanter, Apr 2024
“Beautiful notes of dried citrus fruit, lemon curd and dried apples with hints of spices, dried flowers and subtle brioche. I like the polished and caressing texture and steady, refreshing acidity. It’s fresh and even austere, with notes of ground spices. So vertical and firm. Structured and long. Drink or hold.” 97, James Suckling, Aug 2024
“The NV Grande Cuvée 172ème Édition is a gracious, sublime Champagne. Light citrus notes, white flowers, spice, marzipan and chamomile inflections all run through this delicate, nuanced Grande Cuvée. The 172eme is a Champagne of understatement and class that is very much a reflection of the base year. Brisk acids pull it all together. The Grande Cuvée is often quite accessible on release, but this is an Edition I would cellar for at least another year or two. It’s a fine effort from Krug. The 172ème Édition is a blend of 44% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay and 20% Meunier based on 2016 with reserve wines back to 1998. Disgorged: Winter 2022-2023.” 95, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2024

Realm Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard 2021, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena, California
“The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is straight-up awesome, and the talents of winemaker Benoit Touquette cannot be overstated. Incredible blue fruits, dark chocolate, graphite, Haut-Brion-like scorched earth and smoke all soar from this majestic, full-bodied, massively concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon. It reminds me of the 2013 and has that rare mix of power, opulence, and elegance. This utterly classic Dr. Crane deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and will blow you away over the following 20 years. Even after tasting 8 to 12 thousand wines for close to 15 years now, this beauty still stopped me in my tracks.” 100, Jeb Dunnuck, Dec 2023
“A big and juicy red with blackberries, lightly dried fruit and blueberries. Crushed stone. Dried orange peel. Shows muscle yet it is toned and tensioned. Grows on you as you taste it. Give this time to soften. Best after 2028.” 98, James Suckling, Jul 2024
“The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr. Crane Vineyard is a soft, sensual wine, as so many wines from this site can be. Silky, plush contours wrap around a core of red/purplish fruit, rose petals, cinnamon, cedar and new leather. A wine of finesse and understatement, the 2021 is very beautiful, but also a bit less showy than it can be.” 96, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Dec 2023

Levet Côte-Rôtie 2021, 0.75L
Syrah from Côte-Rôtie, Rhône
“The 2021 Côte Rôtie Amethyste comes from a blend of the Côte Brune, Le Mollard, Lancement (since 2019), Le Truchet, and Fongeant, with some younger vintages from Chavaroche. Mostly destemmed, it has a beautiful array of black raspberry fruits as well as some spring flower, pepper, and iron-like nuances. It's medium-bodied, has solid mid-palate depth, and fine tannins, and it's clearly an outstanding wine. Give it just a few years and enjoy over the following 10-12.” 91, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2024

Domaine du Père Caboche Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc 2021, 0.75L
White Rhône Blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône
“Looking first at the white, the 2021 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc is straight-up beautiful stuff, offering clean citrus and orange blossom-like fruits as well as subtle spice, chalky minerality, and flower oil-like nuances. Medium-bodied on the palate, with bright yet integrated acidity, it's textured, has remarkable purity, and a great finish.” 93, Jeb Dunnuck, Nov 2022

Daniel Chotard Sancerre Les Coutones 2022, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre, Loire
“The 2022 Les Coutones hails from a clay-limestone, south-facing slope in a warm, dry season, which creates a ripe and full wine. However, it keeps its freshness and brightness, which leaves you wanting more.” 90, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Jul 2024
