Beausejour Duffau Lagarosse 2014, 0.75L
Merlot/Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"An utterly spellbinding wine, the 2014 Beauséjour Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse is also one of the unqualified successes of the vintage. Beams of tannin give the 2014 its ample, broad feel. Inky red cherry, blueberry, smoke, leather and tobacco fill out the wine's big frame effortlessly. Layers of intense fruit meld into a huge spine of tannin in a vertical, massively structured Saint-Émilion. So many 2014s are charming and accessible, but this is not one of them. Readers will have to be patient." 97 Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Vinous.com, Feb 2017

The 2014 Château Beausejour Duffau-Lagarrosse is fabulous stuff and well worth seeking out. Made from close to 100% Merlot (there’s a splash of Cabernet Franc) and offering classic notes of damp earth, tobacco leaf, blackcurrants, and beautiful minerality, this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a terrific core of fruit, and more texture and opulence than most in the vintage. Gazin 2014, 0.75L
Merlot from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"The soy-sauce and savory aromas really make this stand out, but behind it are some very nice fruit and elegant tannins. This is a very well-made modern Pomerol with a lot of potential that needs some time to reveal its full class. Give it five or six years of bottle age." 95 James Suckling

"The 2014 Gazin was stubborn and broody when tasted in bottle, but give it a few swirls and there comes forth gravel and black truffle scents alongside sultry black fruit. These aromatics are so engaging and involving, drawing you in towards it charms. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and taut with great precision and sappiness towards the focused, almost symmetrical, black truffle-laced finish. This continues Gazin's fine run of form, a great Pomerol from an estate predisposed these days to create sophisticated, classic wines." 94 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne

"An initially faint but distinct hint of freshly cut green (but ripe) apple and of lemon. Subtle florality and just a touch of freesia hint at more nuance to come. More time in the glass reveals a sense of still briny oyster shell. The palate is like a summer breeze, caressing the palate with finest, creamiest foam – and again that saltiness that is utterly seductive and appetizing. There is immense vertical richness in that creamy but svelte texture. Despite the generosity and the creaminess, there is nothing superfluous to obscure the wine’s essential and clear-cut luminosity. This is a model of sleek form, understatement, and depth, and an utterly compelling combination of briskness and emollience. Irresistible now but guaranteed to evolve." 99 Falstaff Magazin

"This vivid Champagne shows up-front and linear definition, thanks to rapierlike acidity, with finely meshed flavors of ripe black cherry and mandarin orange fruit, raw almond, anise and cardamom spice as well as a touch of honeycomb, which all unfurl and expand on the fine, creamy palate. Sleek acidity continues through to the finish, with additional racy character provided by a streak of minerally saline and chalk, which gains momentum through the midpalate and rings out on the well-cut, lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay." 98, Allison Napjus, Wine Spectator
