Spectrum Wine Retail, 02/07/24: Rémi Jobard's beautifully incisive old-vine Bourgogne - "All of Rémi’s wines show a breathtaking clarity of terroir"

"I would observe that while [Rémi] Jobard always makes at least very good whites, he has outdone himself in 2021 as the quality is excellent from top to bottom."
Allen Meadows, Burghound

"A softly spoken-perfectionist, Rémi Jobard produces beautifully pure and vibrant expressions of Meursault that merit considerable interest ....

As readers may know, Jobard took over from his father Charles in 1996. No fertilizers have been used since 1994, and the Domaine was certified organic in 2008. All its vines are cordon pruned, promoting smaller yields and smaller berries. And since taking the helm, Jobard's style has evolved step by step: today, the wines see two winters on the lees, and élevage is largely in Stockinger foudres. The result is a precise, almost minimalist style that produces Meursault of unusual transparency: classy wines that evolve slowly in bottle."
William Kelley, Wine Advocate

"All of Rémi’s wines show a breathtaking clarity of terroir, which come from the impeccable farming and a simple hands-off approach in the cellar; all of the wines are aged in a mixture of barrique and large older foudre. When asked about his approach Rémi says, 'We are very privileged to have great terroir in Meursault. Everything I do in the vineyard and in my cellar is to make sure that terroir is transparent and completely unobscured.'

Tasting through the lineup is a true masterclass of Meursault – a sensual tour of rock and vine."
Skurnik

A cuvée of six Domaine parcels in Meursault directly below the village; 40+-year-old vines; aged in 50% barrique (15% of which is new) and 50% in large, older foudre; finished in stainless steel for 6 months

Complicating notes of pear, white flowers, marzipan, apple, beeswax, lime zest, and a fashionable hint of light reduction; this is an attractively medium-weight Bourgogne Blanc punching above its niveau and revealing fine mid-palate density throughout; fresh, saline, citrus-driven, and persistent, this complex Bourgogne can be drunk now or aged for the short or medium term.
