Anthill Farms Cabernet Sauvignon Timbercrest Farms 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Dry Creek Valley, California
"Dark red/purple color. This Cabernet Sauvignon is sensual and nuanced, with tremendous textural finesse. Time in the glass brings out a range of black currant, dark blossoms, cedar, warm soil, and spice box aromas. Unlike many California Cabernets, the flavors are nuanced rather than obtuse. They span out across the palate effortlessly, making drinking now a joy with just a little air. Folded tannins and integrated acidity will allow the Timbercrest to easily age and improve for a decade or more. This is only the second vintage of this wine—the first from 2007 still sings when the cork is pulled. 13.8% abv." Producer Notes, Anthill Farms

Anthill Farms Chardonnay Peugh Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Russian River Valley, California
"The 2018 Chardonnay Peugh comes from a vineyard originally planted in 1887 and grafted to Chardonnay in 1944. It was made with 20% new Austrian oak and has bright notions of petrichor, lime peel, green herbs and green pineapple with honeyed notes in the background. The palate is medium-bodied and satiny, swelling with savory flavors that are refreshed by mineral accents and lively acidity, and it finishes very long. The dynamic dichotomy of brightness and savory bass tones is compelling and provides a hint of what this may be like with another five years in bottle." 94+ points Erin Brooks, The Wine Advocate

"Matured in about 20% new French Stockinger barrels, the 2020 Chardonnay Peugh has delicate aromas of lemon peel, Greek yogurt and crushed stone. The medium-bodied palate offers much more than the nose at this stage, with generous, aromatic fruits, an expansive, satiny texture and a balance of honeyed bass tones, with top notes of tangerine and lime peel on the very long, energetic finish." 95 Erin Brooks, The Wine Advocate

Arnot-Roberts Syrah Clary Ranch 2017, 0.75L
Syrah from Sonoma Coast, California
"The 2017 Syrah Clary Ranch is striking. Deep and resonant on the palate, the 2017 has so much to say. Some of the angular edges and intense savoriness the Clary Ranch can show have been soften by the intense heat of the year. Silky, fine tannins wrap around a core of dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and pepper. A Syrah of power and structural intensity, the Clary Ranch is incredibly distinctive, and that is in a lineup in which many of the wines are exceptional. Two thousand-seventeen is a superb vintage for the Clary Ranch Syrah." 96 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Capiaux Old Vine Russian River Pinot Noir 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley, California
"Sean Capiaux's 2018 Pinot Noir Old Vine is a blend from Widdoes and Starscape, both planted with Martini clone, which tends to give an especially aromatic, exotic Pinot. Blood orange, mint, spice, star anise and kirsch all lift from the glass. Like all of these Pinots, the Old Vine is a bit clenched today, and yet its potential is evident. This is such a pretty and distinctive wine with a ton of underlying energy that just needs a bit of time to be at its most express." 93+ Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Chanin Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Santa Barbara County, California
"Translucent ruby, the 2019 Pinot Noir Los Alamos Vineyard, from the warmer, sandy Los Alamos region, was mostly destemmed (15% stems) and spent 18 months in 15% new barrels. A wonderful perfume of mulled cherries, baking spices, dried herbs, flowers, and forest floor gives way to a medium-bodied, ethereally styled, balanced, graceful Pinot Noir with light tannins and a great finish. It’s all about finesse and elegance, and it’s a beautiful, seamless Pinot Noir." -95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Chanin Syrah Schock Family Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Barbara County, California
"This is a cooler-climate Syrah done with the light touch of a Pinot Noir master. The nose is extremely peppery, reminiscent of a tour through a Tellicherry peppercorn factory, yet with tart cranberry, rust and soil elements as well. The palate is immensely grippy with more white pepper as well as charcoal and brisk red-fruit flavors. It will also cellar very well." 95 Points Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast
"The 2018 Syrah Schock Family Vineyard is Gavin Chanin's first Syrah, and it is fabulous. Deep and rich, but not at all heavy, the 2018 has so much to offer. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2018 is an embryonic wine at this stage. What comes across is the wine's exceptional balance and harmony. Time will be needed for Syrah aromatics to emerge." 94 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Cultivar Cabernet Sauvignon North Coast 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from North Coast, California
"Luscious and enticing is the best way to introduce the latest bottling of our “Gold Label” Cabernet. Though the bright, brick color is more reminiscent of an aged Cabernet, the aromas of toasted oak, tobacco, and pepper are vibrant and young. On the palate, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon explodes with dark cherry, blueberry, root beer, and sarsaparilla, then finishes bright with flavors of exotic spices, cedar, and a hint of cassis. Beautiful tannins create a firm but opulent structure, while a quick aerating or decanting reveals even greater complexity. This medium bodied wine is built for pleasure and food. Go traditional with a grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup or discover just how versatile this wine can be with black truffle fettuccini, bison meatloaf, or elk chops." Winery Notes

Enfield Wine Co. Chardonnay Citrine 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from California, California
"The 2018 Chardonnay “Citrine” bottling from Enfield Wine Company is composed from fruit from four different vineyards: Rorick Heritage, Heron Lake, Haynes and Brosseau Vineyard, with the average age of the vines fully forty years of age. While I do not have any specific information on its winemaking, it seems to have seen at least some of the blend fermented or raised in cement eggs. The bouquet is bright and classy, offering up scents of apple, lemon blossoms, a touch of lavender, a fine base of soil tones, citrus peel and a bit of beeswax in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and nicely soil-driven in personality, with a good core, fine focus and grip, zesty acids and a long, nascently complex and quite classy finish. This is a nicely cool fruit chardonnay at 12.9 percent octane, with plenty of personality and the structure to age very well indeed. Good juice in a nicely offbeat style that recalls early vintages of Chalone, with less new oak. 2020-2035." 91 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

Matthiasson Cabernet Sauvignon Village No. 3 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"Sometimes you just want an honest glass of Cabernet. Refreshing, flavorful, not too heavy, and not too light. A Cab for drinking at the table, not looking at in the cellar. And a Napa Cab that doesn’t break the bank. A “Village” Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. A bright lively wine with lots of flavor that is great with food. We blended a “table Cab” from delicious lots of our wine that didn’t quite make it into our Matthiasson Cabernet blend but that taste great together as a “Village” wine.
Village Cab No. 3 is a blend of wines from multiple vineyards throughout Napa Valley, from Rutherford down to Oak Knoll, all of which were organically farmed, fermented, and aged by us and us alone."

Newfound Gravels California 2019 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Carignane from California, California
Sourcing
In 2019 we transitioned Gravels from a Grenache dominant wine to a 50/50 marriage of Grenache and Carignane. The Grenache was sourced entirely from the Cemetery Vineyard and the Carignane entirely from the Colombini Ranch. Both sites contain similar geology and are planted in (the simplest of terms) gravel. The Grenache and all of its perfume and elegance combined with the density and nerve of the Carignane were the perfect match for our second iteration of ‘Gravels’. Thirty days separated the picks - as the Grenache arrived toward the end of August with the Carignane completing our harvest as the final pick coming in at the end of September.
Vinification
When vinifying the wine our extraction techniques favored elegance over abundance. The lots were fermented separately but employed similar methods – 100% whole cluster, wild yeasts, one simple cap-wetting per day - spending up to 35 days in total on the skins. The Grenache was aged in one 2000L Austrian oval barrel, while the Carignane was aged in one 2000L French Foudré. A total of 14 months were spent in each vessel before assembly at which point the wines were racked, blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
Tasting
Deep black cherry, herbal sage brush, lavender and melon rind aromatics. That palate combines density and a snappy freshness that makes this bottling a versatile companion for any meal or occasion. Drink now or over the next five years.

Ridge Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2019, 0.375L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Santa Cruz Mountains, California
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate comes from the estate Monte Bello Vineyard on the eastern side of the Santa Cruz Mountains and is 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 1% Petit Verdot. Hitting 13.8% alcohol, its deep ruby/purple color is followed by a brilliant perfume of blue fruits, scorched earth, tobacco leaf, and lead pencil. Beautifully balanced and medium to full-bodied, with building tannins, it's a seamless Cabernet Sauvignon that has some up-front appeal given its balance and elegance yet will benefit from 2-5 years of bottle age and, I suspect, have 20+ years of overall longevity. While many of these wines fall outside the “Central Coast,” I was able to taste a full lineup from Ridge and am happy to include these wines here. Going forward, the Sonoma releases will be covered by my colleague, Audrey Frick." 94+ Jeb Dunnuck
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate offers a hugely appealing mix of fruit richness married to the savory, structured style that is the Ridge signature. The 2019 is beautifully exotic, but natural without the volume of the Monte Bello. I imagine it will drink splendidly with minimal cellaring. Succulent red cherry, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and pomegranate. Ridge manages to pull off the impossible, which is to excel in both larger-volume, commercial bottlings while also offering a number of small production, niche wines that will appeal to the nerdiest of wine lovers .... There are a ton of compelling wines in this range beyond the obvious Geyserville, Lytton Springs and Monte Bello. The 2019 Zinfandel Pagani Ranch, Syrah Grenache Mataro Lytton Estate and Carignane Buchignani Ranch are all wines I would love to own." 92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Robert Craig Cabernet Sauvignon Affinity 2012, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"The least expensive wine is the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Affinity, the estate Cabernet Sauvignon from the foothills just south of Stag’s Leap blended with small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec. An absolutely stunning value in Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa, the wine has an inky/purple color, a big sweet kiss of créme de cassis, spice box, mocha and assorted black fruits. It is full-bodied and ripe with low acidity and sweet tannins. This wine is showy and up front, but has enough stuffing to last 7-10 years or more. Robert Craig is still one of the most consistent wineries in terms of quality and keeping pricing within realistic levels, not something frequently seen in Napa Valley." 92 Points Robert M. Parker, Jr., The Wine Advocate

"The 2020 Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills incorporates about 50% estate fruit and was made with destemmed fruit this vintage and bottled a bit earlier than other vintages. Medium ruby-purple, it has pretty scents of rhubarb, blueberries and tea leaves with savory notes of pipe tobacco, flint and woodsmoke. "The 2020 Chardonnay Vino de los Ranchos is a new cuvée from Scar of the Sea, from own-rooted vines planted in 1973 near Bien Nacido vineyard. Still in barrel on the lees, the first sneak peek is promising. The nose offers singular aromas of panna cotta, Greek yogurt and yellow orchard fruits, and the palate is rounded and savory with a juicy bite of acidity and a creamy finish. Scar of the Sea Vino de los Ranchos Pinot Noir 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Santa Maria Valley, California
"The 2021 Pinot Noir Vino de Los Ranchos is a very pretty, vibrant Pinot Noir. Dark red fruit, lavender, rose petal, spice and leather give the 2021 its beguiling, mysterious personality. There's a lot of wine here, but the 2021 needs time in bottle to be at its best. Today, the youthful tannins are pretty imposing. I was deeply impressed with this set of wines from Scar of the Sea. Mikey and Gina Giugni source fruit from a number of top vineyards in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo, many of them old-vine sites, for this range of wines. It’s hard to know where to start, but I especially liked the 2021 Alicante Bouschet Galleano Ranch and 2021 Syrah Bassi Vineyard, both of which show how compelling this vintage is shaping up to be. The Scar of the Sea wines are done with minimal handling and offer notable transparency, not to mention tons of character." 93 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon Wappo Hill 2019, 0.75L

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Wappo Hill is a new label for Schrader. Deep purple-black colored, it tumbles out of the glass with gregarious scents of mulberries, redcurrant jelly, blackberry pie and cassis, plus hints of fragrant earth, bouquet garni, cumin seed and pencil lead. The full-bodied palate has a great backbone of firm, grainy tannins and bold freshness supporting the taut, muscular black fruits, finishing long with a lively skip in its step. The Mascot Proprietary Red 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"The Mascot began as a family wine, unnamed, unlabeled—a blend made for and poured at our own table. The components were of the highest pedigree, harvested from the younger vines of the Harlan family domain. The domain traces its beginning to the founding in 1984 of Harlan Estate, located in the western hills of Oakville and conceived as a “first growth of California.” In 1996, the family established BOND, a portfolio of “Grand Cru” vineyards whose wines showcase the range of expression of cabernet sauvignon across distinct geographical sites within the Napa Valley. Promontory, whose land the family acquired in 2008, is led by the family’s second generation and represents a 21st-century approach to winegrowing. As these varied sites were gradually replanted, many of the young vines contributed to my project. Yet, despite these distinguished origins, my early endeavor could only hint at the individual character embodied by each of our grands vins." Producer Notes

Fort Hamilton Single Barrel Rye Whiskey NV, 0.75L
Rye Whiskey from Kings County, New York
"Fort Hamilton Single Barrel is comprised of 90% New York State Rye and 10% New York State Barley, representing a mash bill that would have been similar to others at the time of the American Revolution when the Northeast was the epicenter of rye whiskey production. The distillate is barreled at 120 proof instead of 125 proof; the lower degree of alcohol contributes to Fort Hamilton’s soft, fruit-driven style. Non chill filtered with bright notes of juniper, spearmint, and lemon zest, this rye is an enjoyable sipping whiskey and also a versatile cocktailing component. 45% ABV." Evening Land Chardonnay Seven Springs Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon
"Our Seven Springs Chardonnay is the backbone to all of the white wines that we make here at Evening Land Vineyards. Fruit for this estate wine comes from Burgundian clones rooted into a rockier section of our Seven Springs’ mid-slope, which we believe plays into the texture and final flavor profile of the wine. On the palate, flavors of yellow and green apples, white flower petals, lemon zest, cream, and hints of warm baking spice lead to a soft, palate-coating finish. For those skeptical of domestic Chardonnay, we promise that this satiny, terroir-reflective expression of the grape promises to please a variety of palates." Producer Notes, Evening Land Vineyards

Ken Wright Cellars Pinot Noir Willamette Valley 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon
Shaped by millions of years of plate subduction and volcanic activity, Oregon’s Willamette Valley is one of the premier Pinot noir producing areas in the world. The Willamette Valley AVA was established in 1983, with the initial vineyard plantings beginning in 1966. This 100-mile long, 60-mile wide valley stretches between the Columbia River in the north, to just south of Eugene with the Oregon Coast Range in the west and the Cascade Mountains in the East. Due to the protection of the mountains on eastern and western boundaries, the Willamette Valley is a cooler climate region that provides for a long, gentle growing season, perfect for deliciously complex Pinot noir. Our crop level averaged just under three tons this year which was perfect for the accumulated heat we experienced over the growing season. Disease was nonexistent with the dry conditions of the summer months and the fermentation's proceeded perfectly with nary a one going "sideways" on us. The 2021 wines are rich, expressive, detailed and deeply colored. Winery Notes

The Durand Vintage Cork Removal Device NV, 0.75L
Wine Tool from United States, United States
"Whenever you extract a cork from an old bottle, there’s always the danger of the cork breaking or falling into the wine. Serious sommeliers and collectors have various tricks for preventing this from happening, and one of the best is to twist in a traditional corkscrew to keep the cork in one piece, and then use a two pronged Ah-So cork puller to get the whole thing out.
The Durand, designed by Atlanta collector Mark Taylor, delivers both pieces in one package so that they fit together properly and securely. That, combined with the decent heft of the device, makes it feel stable. Testing proved that it works. The only tricks are rocking the blades of the Ah So as you inset them, and getting that first twist started. But with The Durand, at least you can be sure the cork won’t disintegrate and crumble into your bottle."

Charles Smith Syrah Stoneridge Vineyard Royal City 2015, 0.75L
Syrah from Columbia Valley, Washington
"Another magical Syrah is the 2015 Syrah Royal City. It shows a more finesse-driven (I wrote Burgundian in my notes), ethereal style as well as a beautiful perfume of kirsch and black cherry liqueur intermixed with notes of crushed flowers, ground herbs, pepper, and dried earth. Full-bodied, seamless, and ultra-fine on the palate, it has no hard edges and flawless balance, all making for an incredibly thrilling Syrah that’s already a joy to drink. Nevertheless, this cuvée will evolve gracefully and keep for 10-15 years." 98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
