"The Clos Vougeot was the very last wine to finish up its malo and there was still a hint of CO2 on the backend of the wine. With a bit of swirling in the glass the wine blossoms very nicely to offer up a lovely aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, gamebird, woodsmoke, a very complex base of soil, violets, cocoa and a touch of cedary wood. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very elegant in profile out of the blocks, with a superb core of pure fruit, ripe tannins and a very long, transparent and classy finish. A superb Clos Vougeot in the making." |
