90 RP. "An outstanding effort is the 2002 Mourvedre Hastings Ranch The Graosta, from a 3-acre, hillside vineyard situated west of US 101 in the area known as Adelaide. Its dark ruby/garnet color is accompanied by an earthy, primordial, powerful (15.9% alcohol) Mourvedre revealing notes of allspice, sweet cherries, and a hint of truffles in its dense, full-bodied, chewy, big style. Although not for everybody, it is a seriously endowed offering with considerable tannin." Wine Advocate #154, Aug 2004 |
