Lot #593. Rare Cased and Engraved Massachusetts Arms Co. Maynard Primed Pocket Revolver, with Accessories

Description: Serial no. 761. .28 caliber, 6-shot etched cylinder 2 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with brass pin front sight. Topstrap marked "MASS. ARMS CO./CHICOPEE FALLS." Maynard patent priming system, the cover marking including Maynard's Patent and Sept. 22, 1845 date. Engraved primer cover, frame and hammer. Blued finish with varnished walnut grips. Varnished mahogany case with brass bullet mold. Three sets of Maynard primer tapes. Plain powder flask with blued steel spring.  Triggerguard With small brass identification tag of Steve D'Arrigo marked "29."

Limited production of approximately 900 revolvers of this, the manually revolved, earliest type, variation. Button release for hand-turned cylinder on bottom of frame, forward of trigger.

Condition: Fine. 95% blue on cylinder, 75% on primer cover, traces blue on remaining steel parts, which are primarily of gray patina. 100% silver plating on triggerguard, likely of brass. Case and accessories very good to fine. Patina and blemishes on bullet mold. Three primer tape rolls fine.
