90 JG. "This was the first vintage of Daniel Bouland’s wines that I had tasted, and I found the wine excellent and beautifully complex in its aromatic and flavor profile. The nose offers up a complex and vibrant melange of red cherries, vinesmoke, a touch of celery seed, spiced meats, lovely, autumnal soil tones, a touch of clove, coffee, cedar and citrus rind in the upper register. On the palate the wine is medium-full, complex and tangy, with good mid-palate depth, bright acids, moderate tannins and good length and grip on the slightly chewy finish. I would give this very good bottle a year or two to soften." John Gilman, View From the Cellar, Sep/Oct 2009, Issue #23 |
