"(this was to have been bottled in December) Medium ruby. Higher-pitched on the nose than the regular bottling, with mellow, complex aromas of black raspberry, violet, woodsmoke, mocha and minerals. Sweet, dense, sappy and full; really grips the palate. Finishes with substantial tannins that will require more patience than those of the cuvee normale. Textbook traditionally styled Cote-Rotie, with superb sappiness and spice character. I tasted this bottle one morning, and it stayed on my mind all day." Vinous, Jan 2002 |
