"The 2005 Champgains is a lovely premier cru Chassagne cut in that more forward and flirtatious style that is typical of the vintage. It is a bit ripe and will clearly not make old bones (unless I have completely misread it), but will provide good early drinking for those that like that more broad-shouldered style of white Burgundy. The bouquet is complex and already showing some signs of secondary development, as it offers up notes of apple, honeycomb, a touch of corn meal, and a nice base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and quite long, with fine focus, and just a bit of heat poking through on the crisp finish."
