"The Duc de Magenta Clos de la Garenne is even finer than the above. The nose offers up an exceptional mélange of lemon, apples, a touch of pink grapefruit, white flowers, chalky soil tones, a bit of stoniness and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very, very pure on the attack, with a fine core, great transparency and outstanding cut on the very long and racy finish. There is a notable step up here from the Magenta straight la Garenne, particularly in terms of transparency, snap and structural integrity. A superb bottle."

2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
The world's most versatile white grape, producing everything from steely Chablis to rich, oaked whites. Its neutrality makes it a mirror of terroir and winemaking, and the foundation of white Burgundy and Champagne.
