99 Points! Extremely perfumed, showing red roses and violets as well as hints of flower stems. A touch of sandalwood. This turns to blue fruits with such pure grape character, like smelling must. Savory, light brine and black olives. The palate is tight and refined before taking off at the end. The perfectly integrated tannins melt into the wine, giving it fascinating tension and intensity. 53% merlot, 46% cabernet franc and 1% cabernet sauvignon. - James Suckling
99 Points! The 2022 Cheval Blanc is shaping up to be one of the wines of the vintage. Deep, seamless and striking in its beauty, the 2022 possesses pedigree to burn. In fact, the 2022 is the most tannic Cheval since 2010. The aromatics are suprisingly vibrant for a wine from a warm, dry year. The wine's energy is palpable. The 100% new oak is not all perceptible, which is another sign of a top-notch balance. Time in the glass brings out a whole range of exotic Franc notes, followed by blood orange, red fruit, mind and dried herb touches. The 2022 includes 17% press wine (compared to the 11% or so that is typical), but as I have noted in my comments elsewhere in this report, the press lots were of high quality in 2022 because the winemaking was gentle. Once again, Cheval Blanc represents a pinnacle of excellence. Readers should note there is no Petit Cheval in 2022. - Antonio Galloni, Vinous Media

The 2022 Château Cheval Blanc has turned out beautifully in bottle, bursting from the glass with aromas of minty mulberries, licorice and rose petals mingled with hints of pipe tobacco and baking chocolate. Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it's layered and unctuous, with sweet, powdery tannins and a broad, enveloping profile, concluding with a long, fragrant finish. Flamboyant but controlled, this blend of 53% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Franc and 1% Cabernet Sauvignon spent only 12 months in barrique. Our Futures campaign has definitely hit the ground running. After a few days of phone calls with our agents in France we are pleased to announce two huge right bank Chateaux have released into the En Primeur marketplace as of today, Chateau Angelus and Chateau Cheval Blanc. Two enormously exciting wines showing undenaible promise in this vintage.
Other wines released today are some of our perennial value powerhouses, Chateau Soutard (possibly the best they've ever made) and Chateau Marjosse. Some of you already might know that Marjosse is Chateau d'Yquem and Chateau Cheval Blanc's director, Pierre Lurton's home estate. Pierre runs two of the most iconic wineries in the world but sells us his pride and joy for a song...The QPR on both of these wines are as you'd guess, through the roof.

Angelus Saint Emilion 2022 Pre-Arrival
98-100 Points! Deeply colored, the wine is all about its elegance in the texture. The fruits offer a level of purity and refinement that was not present in older vintages. Perfectly balanced, vibrant, long and intense, the wine is incredibly sensuous, velvety, and silky. The level of concentration remains, but the sensation here is now one of sensuality, balance, and sophistication. The silky, pure, red and black pit fruits with a cool touch of orange rind remain with you for close to 60 seconds. Fermentation at cooler temperatures and no sulfur during the fermentations helped maintain the wines elegance and purity. The wine blends 60% Merlot, and 40% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% ABV, 3.65 pH. 98-99 Points! So many beautiful primary fruit aromas. Al dente. Peaches. Very floral. Aromatic. Full-bodied and extremely fine tannins with length and beauty that show incredible depth. Superb brightness and reality. Exciting. Cabernet franc freshness and dynamics come through now, even though the blend is 60% merlot and 40% cabernet franc. - James Suckling

Full-bodied yet tight and polished where it seems delicate and compressed, with berry, chocolate and walnut character. The finish is endless and poised. Chateau Marjosse Bordeaux 2022 Pre-Arrival
92-93 Points! A really delicious Bordeaux with lovely silky tannins that are well-integrated. Blackcurrant and orange peel with some stone undertones. It’s friendly and delicious already. - James Suckling
93-95 Points! The 2022 Marjosse is a blend of 75% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Malbec. Owner Pierre Lurton commented, “We have a lot of chalk and clay at Marjosse, so we never have a problem with freshness. We recently bought a small plot of Cabernet Franc, which did very well. It was a long harvest starting on 5th September and ending at the beginning of October. We had to go very light on the extraction and we couldn't use any of the press juice because it was too powerful.” The wine has a deep garnet-purple color and shoots from the glass with energetic notes of fresh, juicy blackberries, warm plums, and kirsch, followed by hints of cardamom, dusty soil, and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is coated with bright, expressive black fruits, supported by a lively backbone and plush, velvety tannins, finishing long, with a spicy lift. Well placed to succeed in these hot, dry vintages and with a good proportion of very old vines, which tend to handle these climatic conditions very well, this is likely to be one of the best bargains of the vintage. - Lisa Perrotti-Brown, robertparker.com
Soutard Saint Emilion 2022 Pre-Arrival
93-95 Points! The 2022 Soutard is a hugely promising wine. Rich, ample and statuesque in bearing, the 2022 is super impressive. Dark fleshed fruit, mocha, spice, licorice, menthol and espresso all build in a Saint-Emilion that shows tremendous delineation and class for such an extreme vintage. 93-95 Points! The 2022 Soutard opens in the glass with aromas of dark berries, cherries and plums mingled with hints of licorice and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's fleshy and enveloping, with a vibrant core of fruit, bright acids and sweet, powdery tannins.
