"The 2018 Georges Laval “les Chênes” Blanc de Blancs is a stunning young wine. It was disgorged in May of 2022 after three years aging sur latte. The beautiful bouquet jumps from the glass in a blaze of passion fruit, pear, fresh almond, a beautiful base of chalky soil tones, brioche, a hint of buttery oak and a pungent topnote of orange blossoms. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a fine core, lovely mineral undertow, elegant mousse and a long, focused and impeccably balanced finish. This is a young wine that deserves plenty of time in the cellar to hit its true apogee, but it has no rough edges today and is already damn hard not to want to drink in this first blush of youth. Stunning juice." |
