"The 2018 old vine bottling of Butteaux is just a whisper riper than the regular cuvée, coming in at thirteen percent octane, but more structured, deeper and asking for a bit of time alone in the cellar to fully blossom. The youthful nose delivers a fine constellation of green apple, pear, flinty soil tones, smoke and dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and rock solid at the core, with a very good structural chassis, impressive backend minerality and a very long, pure and nascently complex finish. This will be simply outstanding in the fullness of time, but will need some bottle age to really blossom." |
