"The 2014 Haut-Segottes is one of the under-the-radar jewels of the year. Silky and nuanced in the glass, but with striking depth, the 2014 exudes class. Dark red cherry, plum, spice and new leather are all nicely pushed forward. The tannins are a bit firmer than I recall seeing from barrel. I tasted the 2014 from a half-bottle sample, which is about the worst and least flattering way for an estate to show a wine. The blend is 60 % Merlot and 40 % Cabernet Franc. Hubert de Boüard is the consulting winemaker." |
