"The 2019 Chiroubles from Domaine de La Grosse Pierre is Pauline’s “young vine” cuvée in the commune, as they are forty-five years of age. The wine offers up a beautifully pure and complex bouquet of red and black cherries, pomegranate, gamebird, woodsmoke, a lovely base of granite, cloves, red curry and fresh thyme. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a beautiful core of red fruit, excellent mineral undertow, moderate tannins and a long, focused and tangy finish. This is a beautiful bottle of Chiroubles. It is still a bit marked by its youthful stems and could do with a bit more bottle age to let those tones turn to spices, but it is also awfully easy to drink already!" |

"Translucent ruby. Very fragrant and delicate on the nose. So smooth and charming initially but with just a gentle little bite on the finish. Mouth-filling and very refined. Beautifully judged Gamay fruit. It's almost a joke that this is part of the same offer as bottles selling for more than £100 apiece. Snap it up! VGV" 16.5/20 Points Jancis Robinson
"Generous red cherries with a hint of spice. The medium-bodied palate is rather silky and fresh. Already open and friendly. Drink now." 90 Points James Suckling
