Drappier Grande Sendree Brut 2010, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne
"Pale gold in colour. On entry there’s a steely floral and sweet smoke note and then an explosion of citrus oil and pale yellow fruits. It thrums with an embrace that gives a sense of so much to come, with good weight behind a svelte and elegant frame. Structured and still so youthful. The 2008 was monumental but this seems to have as much presence. Up there with any of Champagne’s prestige wines. 55% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay. Single vineyard. 35% fermented in oak. Seven years on lees. Dosage: 5.5g/L. (Drink between 2022-2030)" 96 Tim Hall, Decanter
"The 2010 Brut Grande Sendrée has turned out very well indeed, unwinding in the glass with youthful aromas of citrus oil, white flowers, white peach and fresh bread. Medium to full-bodied, bright and concentrated, it's youthfully tightly wound, with a racy spine of acidity, an elegant pinpoint mousse and a penetrating, chalky finish. This can't quite match the plenitude of the 2009, but it may outpace it with time, as this is an impressively vibrant, structured young Grande Sendrée." 93+ William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Tre Monti Thea Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore Riserva 2019, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore Riserva, Emilia Romagna
"The 2019 Sangiovese Romagna Superiore Thea opens slowly in the glass with an understated mix of sage and dusty dried roses, giving way to nuances of strawberry and mint. This is silky and elegant in feel with mineral-tinged tart wild berries carried by zesty acids, as pretty inner violet tones form toward the close. A coating of fine tannins lingers through the lightly structured finale, but they are sweet and round as vivid raspberry and blood orange notes slowly fade. The Thea is a single-vineyard Sangiovese refined in tonneaux for nine months, 40% new. The 2019 is very attractive, but give it another year or two of cellaring for the best results. Ceritas Pinot Noir Hellenthal Vineyard Old Shop Block 2015, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California
"The 2015 Pinot Noir Hellenthal Vineyard Old Shop Block is another gorgeous wine from Ceritas. Supple, radiant and giving, the 2015 is endowed with striking purity and nuance. Soft, silky tannins and plush, red-toned fruit give the 2015 an element of sensuality that is absolutely irresistible. Blood orange, mint and pomegranate brighten the finish beautifully. The Old Shop Block emerges from a parcel of own-rooted, Calera clone Pinot and was done with 60% whole clusters. My visit with John Raytek at Ceritas was one of the highlights of my January tastings. The 2015s are off the charts great. Raytek clearly picked early, as the wines are endowed with tremendous energy and tension, the early-ripening vintage notwithstanding. These energetic, chiseled Chardonnays and Pinots will appeal most to readers who appreciate focus and delineation in wine." 95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Duncan Family Proprietary Red Timeless 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"A tribute to Silver Oak co-founder Ray Duncan, Timeless Napa Valley is a proprietary red blend from our Soda Canyon Ranch vineyard nestled in the southeastern hills of the Napa Valley. Decades of experience at this unique site allow winemaker Nate Weis and team to highlight the individual merits of each block. Combining the strongest lots from each resulted in a refined and harmonious bottling. A marriage of fruit from our brightest blocks, this wine has flavors of red raspberry, licorice and notes of fresh flowers kissed by a warm summer sun. There is a silky texture on the palate that unfolds with plushness and balanced weight, and the lingering finish is accentuated with a vibrant blackberry return. Michel Rolland Cabernet Sauvignon MR 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"A joint project between consultant winemakers Michel Rolland and Jean Hoefliger. Hoefliger chooses the grapes, harvests and ferments the wine, and Rolland joins for blending sessions. Fruit comes from the Sleeping Lady and Denali vineyards plus a secret site. Lavish aromas of violets, blue fruits and sweet cedar. The palate rides waves of saturated black fruit and brown spices, tethered by fine-grained tannins and savoury baking spice oak notes. 700 cases made in 2019, building great momentum since the first 2010 release. (Drink between 2022-2045)" 97 Jonathan Cristaldi, Decanter
"A collaboration between famed consultants Michel Rolland and Jean Hoefliger, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic, all-American, opulent Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon that just about jumps out of the glass with its massive cassis, blueberry, classy oak, spice, and floral aromas and flavors. It brings serious fruit and texture, is full-bodied, has sweet tannins, and no hard edges, all making for an undeniably delicious Cabernet Sauvignon that can be drunk today or cellared for 15-20 years. Arnot-Roberts Chardonnay Watson Ranch 2022, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Napa Valley, California
"...Soils at Watson Ranch are composed of calcareous clay over limestone. This soil type is extremely rare on the North Coast but shows itself in a narrow fin at the tail end of the Vaca Mountains in Southern Napa County. This fractured, well-drained calcareous soil, coupled with organic farming and cool windy conditions, imbue this parcel with great potential to produce world-class Chardonnay. The fruit we harvest each year from Watson is consistently textural and vibrant with underpinnings of ample natural acidity and salinity." Producer Notes

Ramey Chardonnay Fort Ross-Seaview 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Fort Ross-Seaview, California
"Sourced entirely from Charles Ranch and pouring a pale straw color, the 2021 Chardonnay Fort Ross-Seaview is fresh and lifted with aromas of salted lime, sea spray, agave, and green pineapple. On the palate. this medium-bodied white is spritely with notes of crunchy fresh fruit and has a silky soft, stony texture to round out its linear drive. It’s fresh with vibrant energy and ripe fruit, white peach, and fresh flowers. Drink it over the next 6-8 years. Founded in 1996 by David and Carla Ramey, the Rameys are continuing to produce benchmark wines, while raising the bar for what Sonoma can achieve. In 2022, the Healdsburg-based winery was officially handed over to their children, Claire and Alan, who now share responsibility as co-presidents. During my tasting with Dave, Claire, and Alan, they arranged several side-by-side comparisons with reference point wines from other wine regions. The highlight of these comparisons came when I tasted the 2020 Chardonnay Hyde Vineyard alongside the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey 2020 Saint-Aubin Premier Cru En Remilly Hommage A Marguerite (94 points), as well as the Domaine Michelot 2020 Meursault Premier Cru Perrieres (92 points). While the Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey was wonderfully impressive and textural, the Hyde had fantastic purity and length by comparison. The Domaine Michelot has the structure to have some longevity but felt a touch weedy, which masked its otherwise purer characteristics of green apple, citrus, and toast. It fell short compared to the Hyde and the Saint-Aubin, which was surprising considering the pedigree of this Premiere Cru site from Meursault. The overarching theme across the tasting was the longevity and balanced nature of the wines from Ramey, which comes as less and less of a shock to me as I get to know their wines more intimately. Though I personally have an affinity for the whites, these wines offer tremendous value with age-worthiness across the portfolio." 93 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

Marcel Deiss Schoffweg 'Le chemin des brebis' 2018, 0.75L
Blend from Bergheim, Alsace
"The 2018 Schoffweg "Le chemin des brebis" offers a pure, rich and intense, very elegant and concentrated bouquet of crushed limestone rocks and lemon peels. Fresh and elegant, dense and refined yet full-bodied, tight and complex on the palate, this is a very salty Schoffweg with a promising, finely bitter finish. This is still far too tight and young to be served now, even from a big glass, but it's a promising white in the Burgundian style. The cuvée includes a part that was fermented on the mash in clay amphora. 13.9% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2022." 94 Stephen Reinhardt, Wine Advocate

Due to the sandy soils on top of schist, it's a light to mid-weight style that floats along the palate, yet has an unrelenting power. Expect pear, apple and even a note of white pepper. Alvaro Palacios Finca Dofi Gratallops 2021, 0.75L
Grenache / Cariñena from Priorat, Catalunya
"The more backward of the 2021s was the 2021 Finca Dofí, which was very primary and smelled almost like the fermentation vessels, and it took time in the glass to open up. The blend is higher in Garnacha and they couldn't use the Picapoll, as it didn't work well that cool year, so it's 90% Garnacha, 9% Cariñena and 1% white grapes. It achieved 14.5% alcohol but kept better freshness than in 2020, a constant in the 2021 wines. Very promising..." 96-98 Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Bouchard Pere & Fils Le Corton 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Corton, Burgundy
"Very, very generous wood treatment is sufficiently toasty to presently dominate the otherwise layered nose of dark cherry, raspberry, earth and sauvage-inflected aromas. There is superb concentration, power and richness to the big-bodied flavors that possess excellent reserves of dry extract that helps to buffer the exceptionally firm tannic spine shaping the superbly long mineral-driven finish. This is at once impressive as hell but it's also very woody and while the underlying material appears to be more than sufficient to eventually integrate the oak, it will require time for this to happen." 93-95 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Clos Manou 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Médoc, Bordeaux
"From an 18-hectare estate planted at a density of around 10,000 vines per hectare, the 2019 Clos Manou is a serious wine. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of dark berry fruit, cigar wrapper, licorice and espresso roast, it's medium to full-bodied, deep and layered, with terrific concentration, lively acids and plenty of ripe, powdery tannin that will reward a bit of bottle age. It's closed with an Ardeaseal technical cork as used by Burgundy's Domaine Ponsot among others. This estate merits a mention in any list of Bordeaux's finest under-the-radar producers." 92+ William Kelley, Wine Advocate
"The 2019 Clos Manou has a ripe, extroverted bouquet of black cherries, mulberry, rose petal and slight confit aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with juicy ripe tannins, fleshy and generous. Tyler Chardonnay Santa Barbara County 2022, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Santa Barbara County, California
"The 2022 Chardonnay (Santa Barbara County) is a fabulous introduction to this range. Orchard fruit, citrus, white flowers and mint give the 2022 lovely aromatic presence. The blend of Santa Maria, Sta. Rita Hills and Los Alamos fruit works so well in this bottling. Justin Willett continues to expand his formidable empire. Readers will note a number of new releases in this year’s collection. When I first met Willett, a dozen years ago, Tyler was a new winery working exclusively with purchased fruit. Today, Tyler owns two estate vineyards, the new Mae Estate and the historic Fiddlestix, both in the Sta. Rita Hills, and produces a far wider range of wines. That is a dramatic transformation in a very short period of time. In general, the Chardonnays see 10 months in barrel followed by 6-8 months in tank. The Pinots spend 18 months in barrel, 33-100% new depending on the wine, with minimal to no racking during that time. There are a ton of highlights here . . ." 91 Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"Our Santa Barbara County Chardonnay is comprised of fruit from various high quality vineyard sites throughout the county, with the majority grown at the the Kick-on Ranch. This bottling is intended to provide great value and represenation, while keeping focus on quality and typicity. The chardonnay is whole cluster pressed to tank, settled briefly before being moved to another tank for fermentation. After fermentation is active, the juice goes down to 228L barrels and 500L puncheons. We perform no battonage and the wine goes through full Malolactic Fermentation. The wine is left on lees for 11 months before going back to tank for an additional few months of aging. The result is a fresh and bright style of chardonnay carrying a citrus, mineral, and marine profile - very much "Santa Barbara"." Tyler

Piaggia Poggio de'Colli Toscana 2020, 0.75L

"The darkly alluring 2020 Cabernet Franc Poggio de' Colli takes its time in the glass, slowly awakening with a dusty mix of red currants, pepper-tinged rose, exotic curries and the slightest touch of animal musk that adds gravitas. This is velvety smooth yet finessed. It's cool-toned in feel with a potent wave of tart raspberry fruits that saturates the palate with savory spice and mineral tones. It leaves a coating of fine tannins and a staining of berry concentration through the finale, tapering off sapid and long, yet perfectly balanced. 00 Wines Pinot Noir VGR 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley, Oregon
"Sourced from three vineyards, the ripe but transparent red 2021 Pinot Noir VGR is a lovely expression of a regional wine, with ripe raspberry, mossy earth, and spicy notes of licorice. Juicy and approachable on the palate, with juicy fruit filling its medium frame, it’s long on the palate, with fine tannins and a hint of warming spice on the finish .... 00 Wines, founded by husband-and-wife duo Katherine and Christopher Hermann, exclusively produce Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. They derived the name ‘00’ from numerology and say it represents true and absolute potential. Their first vintage was in 2015, and in 2017 they moved to a shared winemaking facility that they operate out of today. Katherine takes charge of the creative direction with packaging and communications. Her background in marketing brought her to New York City and Boulder, Colorado, working for technology startups, before arriving in the Willamette Valley. Prior to establishing 00 Wines, Christopher was a legal advisor for nearly 40 years for many of the top names in the wine and spirits industry, practicing environmental law. They are inspired by the great wines of Burgundy and implement many Burgundian techniques, advised by their consultant Pierre Millemann and their winemaker Wynne Peterson-Nerdry. Last year I was not able to taste their reds, but it proved to be well worth the wait. They display another level of purity and depth from truly exceptional sites. Also on the horizon for the 00 Wines team are two relatively new projects in both Burgundy and Champagne, which I will be able to share with our readers when I taste them in September of this year." 93 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

Inglenook Rubicon 2018, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Rutherford, California
"A lovely enticing nose filled with rich plum, fig and blackcurrant fruits - heady and opulent. The palate is precise with a distinct texture, certainly dense and ripe but the flavours just settle on the tongue giving spiced touches of liquorice but allowing the freshness and acidity to underpin the overall taste. It feels very carefully constructed with everything in place allowing power and generality but neatly packaged and not overdone. A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Wines are aged for 18 months in 100% French oak, 76% new." 97, Georgie Hindle, Decanter, Jul 2021
“Subtle and complex red with blackberry, black truffle, sweet tobacco and mahogany. Highlights of lavender and violets. Full-bodied and very tight with finesse and tension. Very polished, fine tannins. Long finish. Delicious already, but best after 2022.” 97, James Suckling, Dec 2020
“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon is based on a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It’s a more backward, closed wine, offering classy notes of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, freshly crushed stone, and cedar. More medium to full-bodied and elegant, I’d like to see a touch more density and richness on the mid-palate, but it's beautifully balanced, has gorgeous tannins, integrated acidity, and outstanding length on the finish. Give this classic, impressive, old school beauty 4-5 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 15-20.” 95, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2021

Bollinger Brut Special Cuvee NV, 0.75L
Champagne Blend from Champagne, Champagne
“If it’s good enough for James Bond, it’s good enough for you. Bollinger Champagne has made a number of cameos in James Bond films over the year. This non-vintage Special Cuvée is an example of a classic Champagne done well. Notes of marzipan on the nose and the palate give toastiness and leesy notes, specifically sourdough. It’s classic for a reason and would only elevate any table it finds itself on. (Drink between 2022-2032).” 95, Brianne Cohen, Decanter, Dec 2023

Antinori Solaia 2019, 0.75L
Super Tuscan Blend from Toscana IGT, Tuscany
"Love the depth and restrained power on display here. Made for leisurely drinking over a few hours. Cocoa powder, liqourice, blueberry, smoked herbs and raspberry fruits. Tannins have texture and grip, highlighting a lemongrass and slate roughness to the finish, all given definition by a fennel, almost hoppy bitterness on the finish. The Antinori family, with director Stefano Carpaneto are making the most of a superb vintage with this wine, highly recommended, especially with an extra few years in bottle before opening." 98, Jane Anson, Inside Bordeaux, Jul 2022
“This has a complex array of blackberries, black cherries, cocoa, dried herbs, slate, tobacco, olives and charred bark. Some dried roses and iodine, too. Medium-to full-bodied with firm yet refined tannins. Powerful, in an understated way. Long. Try in 2025.” 98, James Suckling, Jul 2022
“The Marchesi Antinori 2019 Solaia is another blockbuster success from Tuscany's leading wine estate. The blend sees a slightly higher percentage of Cabernet Franc and a slightly lower percentage of Sangiovese. The current mix is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Sangiovese and 10% Cabernet Franc (which has been creeping up in recent years, especially as the climate changes). The soils at the Solaia vineyard are rich in Galestro rock, which is an especially happy pairing with Cabernet Franc in particular. Managing Director Renzo Cotarella tells me that that a vintage like 2019 is proof that the final character of a wine comes from its surrounding territory, not from the blend. This is a generous and extremely expressive edition with lots of dark fruit, spice and sweet tobacco. The tannins are beautifully velvety and soft. This is a beautiful wine that collectors will love.” 97, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate, Jun 2022

Jean Foillard Fleurie 2021, 0.75L
Gamay from Fleurie, Beaujolais
"From vines that are 20-70 years old. A shy nose reluctantly offers up its aromas of mostly red berry fruit that is cut with floral and earth wisps. The sleek and attractively textured middleweight flavors possess adequate density while preserving good delineation that carries over to the youthfully austere, focused and balanced finish." 92 Allen Meadows, Burghound

Domaine de Fontsainte Gris de Gris Rosé 2022, 0.75L
Grenache Gris / Carignan / Mourvèdre from Corbières, Languedoc Roussillon
“The 2022 Rosé Gris de Gris is pale pink in the glass. Its bouquet showcases sweet melon, rose and confectionary spice aromas. The 2022 is round with a pretty inner sweetness and juicy acidity to balance. Ripe strawberry and citrus nuances linger well into the crisply refreshing finale.” 91 Vinous, Vinous.com, May 2023
"A crystalline salmon color with superb amethyst tints. Expressive and particularly tonic, the wine immediately gives off notes of raspberry, cherry and freshly picked strawberries - followed by exotic aromas such as pineapple and mango. A direct and considerable freshness - the density and richness of the fruit mingle with the superb acid vitality giving a wine with a frisson and a magnificent persistency. Stunningly balanced, this is an extremely appetent wine!" - Importer Notes

Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Cuvée de Très Vieilles Vignes 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy
"The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Très Vieilles Vignes has turned out even better than I anticipated, unfurling in the glass with a magical bouquet of cassis, plums and blackberries mingled with dark chocolate, spices, sweet soil tones, licorice and black truffle. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's extraordinarily sumptuous and concentrated, framed by velvety tannins that caress the palate, and underpinned by lively acids, concluding with a long and expansive finish. Pierre-Jean Roty compares it to the 2012 and 2009 renditions, which readers who follow this domaine will know is high praise indeed." 96 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020
"The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a backward, primal bouquet of dense red berry fruit, scents of briar and wild hedgerow and wilted rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Fresh and focused. showing a touch of blood orange and quince toward the detailed yet surprisingly muscular finish. This has a long future ahead. Excellent." 95 Neal Martin, Vinous, Vinous.com, Jan 2020
"A cool, elegant and restrained nose flashes an array of various red fruit scents that include cherry, raspberry and a hint of pomegranate, along with soft earth, spice and discreet wood nuances. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the delicious, intense and well-detailed medium weight flavors that deliver fine depth and persistence on the well-balanced and firmer finish. Unusually for this wine, it's not as dense as the Griotte though it's perhaps a bit more refined than usual." 94 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Jan 2020

Paul Hobbs West Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California
"The 2021 Pinot Noir (West Sonoma Coast), a new wine in this range, is lights out. Rich, ample and bold, the 2021 races across palate with layers of purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, licorice and spice. A dollop of stems adds nuance, but without dominating the overall balance. There's terrific acidity and structure to play off the natural fruit richness that is such a distinctive attribute of the best sites in the appellation." 96 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, Dec 2022

Hubert Lignier Chambolle-Musigny Les Chabiots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy
"Reserved aromas of various dark berries, spice and a plethora of floral elements can be found on the ripe but airy nose. The wonderfully refined medium-bodied flavors possess very good concentration as well as good length on the youthfully austere and slightly lean but not angular finish. My projected range offers the benefit of the doubt that this will flesh out with time in bottle." 89-92 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
