Francois Chidaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Clos du Breuil 2021, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Montlouis sur Loire, Loire
"Produced from 35+ year old vines, this wine is normally vinified dry. From a single vineyard parcel on one of the highest points in the appellation. The soils here are comprised of silex (flint) and a small amount of clay over limestone bedrock. Always vinified dry, this is one of the purest expressions of Montlouis that one can find. Plenty of minerals, pear and some quince in the nose, the acidity is crisp and intense giving way to a full wine that opens up over the palate leaving more quince and river rock sensations." Guilhem et Jean Hughes Goisot Saint Bris Corps de Garde Blanc 2020, 0.75L
Sauvignon Gris from Saint-Bris, Burgundy
"Grown at mid slope with more clay, all sauvignon gris which copes with the heat better. Clear crisp lemon and lime. Fresh yet with an evident sense of white fruit concentration. Massive intensity here, a little citrus to finish, slightly spicy and fuller bodied. The Corps de Garde is currently showing youthful bitterness, and amazing length." 91, Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

Château de Fosse-Sèche Saumur Blanc Arcane 2020, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Saumur, Loire
"Located at the end of the Plateau de Brossay, which is unique to Saumur in that it does not have limestone. The site is slightly convex with fresh and windy exposure. Bbiodiversity is of paramount importance and no chemicals are used in the vineyard. Young Chenin vines and yields of 7hl/ha. Flint with gravel and clay soils. Hand harvested. Native yeast fermentation in egg-shaped concrete tanks. No racking before aging. Winemaking is approached naturally, so depending on the vintage, there is spontaneous malolactic fermentaion." Antinori Rosso di Montalcino Pian delle Vigne 2020, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany
"The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is dark yet perfumed, with lavender and violet tones giving way to masses of ripe plum and cherry. Balsam herbs and hints of chalk develop with time in the glass, adding further depths. This is silky and round, with juicy acidity enlivening its ripe red and hints of blue fruit. Sweet spices, hints of cocoa and licorice linger, as the 2020 tapers off long with just a hint of fine tannin. This showboat of a Rosso is going to win a lot of hearts." 90, Eric Guido, Vinous.com

La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva 2015, 0.75L
from Rioja Alta, La Rioja
"A rich nose of raspberry, crushed strawberry, blueberry, coconut, cedar and sweet spice. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Creamy, balanced and layered with vibrant, spicy character. Long and polished." 96, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
"I tasted two vintages of their sleek and polished blend of Tempranillo and Garnacha, the oldest of which is the 2015 Viña Ardanza Reserva. It's a blend of 78% Tempranillo and 22% Garnacha (because they found that they needed a little more volume in the wine) from a powerful, warm and ripe year, very interesting to compare with the 2016. They consider 2015 a very good vintage; they compare it with 2001, a year when they produced all the wines. There are three wines from 2015, and there is something in common in all thee wines. The grapes were picked in mid-October and put through optical sorting to ferment followed by malolactic until the end of the year. The wine matured in used American oak barrels—the Tempranillo for 36 months with six manual rackings and the Garnacha for 30 months with five rackings. I find it to be more tertiary, with hints of leather and cured meat and a little wild, very spicy. It has a powerful palate with plenty of tannin, and it even feels that it needs some more polishing of perhaps powerful food..." 94, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Vega Sicilia Reserva Especial Unico (2020 Release) NV, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León
"To be released in 2020, the NV Único Reserva Especial 2020 Release is a non-vintage blend of 59 barrels from 2008, 2009 and 2010, mostly Tempranillo with some Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine has been getting closer to the style of the Único, and the blend is from vintages very close to the current release of Único, but somehow this year I think the blend has added some complexity to the bottled wine, which has the heart and soul of the 2010 vintage. In fact, they told me they are keeping more wine to have some older vintages to blend for this Reserva Especial, because in the last few years, the wine has been a little too young for the style that it used to have in the past. This has finesse and some of the Burgundian style of the blends of yesteryear. 17,071 bottles and 214 magnums produced. It was bottled in June 2016. Drink: 2020-2030. (Dec 2019)" 98, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate
"The Reserva Especial is Vega Sicilia's unique version of a traditional Spanish classic, the blend of three vintages. The 2020 release is composed of 2008, 2009 and 2010. The result is a delightfully sumptuous wine, with a glorious supple texture, dense fruit and sweet spices Despite the intensity it has Vega Sicilia's keynote brightness, emphasising its youth." 98 Sarah Jane Evans MW, Decanter Magazine

Vega-Sicilia Valbuena 5° 2018, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León
"The 2018 Valbuena comes from a cooler vintage with good yields that required sorting and selecting in search of a happy and vertical version of Valbuena, pushing a little more and giving the wine a little more oak, especially American (5%). It was produced with 96% Tinto Fino and 4% Merlot that went through a three- to four-day cold soak and fermented with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic in stainless steel. The élevage was in new and used 225-liter oak barrels and 21,000-liter oak vats. It has 14.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.8 and 4.78 grams of acidity (tartaric), so it's ripe and with mellow acidity that gives it a mellow mouthfeel. This is a very spicy vintage for Valbuena, getting closer to the style of Único (while at the same time I felt the 2018 Pintia from Toro was getting closer to the aromatics of some vintages of Valbuena, like 2010). It was a late-ripening year with a tendency toward freshness in the wines. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with very fine tannins that made the wine nicely textured and very elegant. There is a lot of regularity in the Valbuena of the last few years, here with more tension and freshness of the 2017, a little more balsamic even. 180,580 bottles, 5,528 magnums and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in May 2021." 96, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Abadia de Retuerta Pago Negralada 2015, 0.75L

"Opaque ruby. Powerful, mineral-tinged red and dark berry preserve, potpourri and candied licorice scents, plus vanilla and baking spice nuances in the background. Sweet, seamless and expansive on the palate, offering densely packed black raspberry, blueberry, mocha and floral pastille flavors given lift and spine by a core of smoky minerality. Finishes extremely long and smooth, with slow-building tannins and lingering floral pastille and blue fruit preserve notes. Raised for 19 months in new French oak barrels. Michel Lafarge Clos des Aigrots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Côte de Beaune, Burgundy
"The 2020 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru has an airy bouquet, very transparent with redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, the 15% new oak nearly integrated. Very minerally. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. This is a strict and mineral driven Beaune, very tensile but with ample weight and concentration on the finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2025-2045)" 92-94, Neal Martin, Vinous.com
"A notably more floral-suffused nose is attractively high-toned with its fresh aromas of essence of red currant and cherry. The super-sleek, intense and mineral-driven middle weight flavors that are finer but not denser on the tension-filled and wonderfully refreshing finale. This will need to add depth and is a wine that could be approached young if desired." 90-92, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Bessin-Tremblay Chablis 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
"Not surprisingly, having only been in bottle for one week, the 2020 Chablis AC from Domaine Bessin is a little shaken up post-bottling, but it is also abundantly clear that there is excellent depth and transparency here, coupled to lovely acidity and plenty of length and grip. Based on how well the wines that were still in tank showed, I have zero doubt that this wine too will deliver lovely precision and focus as well, once it has recovered from the mise. The bouquet offers up scents of apple, pear, chalky soil tones, a touch of citrus peel and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely balanced, with excellent material at the core, fine mineral undertow, zesty acids and impressive length and grip. The focus will snap back here once it recovers from the bottling and will be a lovely bottle of AC. (Drink between 2022-2040)" 90-91, John Gillman, View from the Cellar
"An overtly floral nose speak of ocean breeze, citrus and an interesting hint of crushed mint leaf. The delicious, fleshy and relatively forward medium-weight flavors possess an appealing texture along with a lingering finish that is brightened by refreshing hints of acid tang and bitter lemon. A quality villages that should drink well young." 89, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Rollin Pere & Fils Pernard Vergelesses Les Fichots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Pernand-Vergelesses, Burgundy
“The 2020 les Fichots from Domaine Rollin is another fine bottle in the making, but it is a bit more structured out of the blocks and will need a couple more years in the cellar than the les Vergelesses before it starts to drink with generosity. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of cassis, dark berries, espresso, a complex base of soil tones, grilled game, bonfire, a touch of cedar and a nice dollop of sweet stem tones from the whole clusters in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a rock solid core, fine transparency and grip, ripe tannins and a long, vibrant and still quite primary finish.” 92+ John Gillman, John Gillman's View From the Cellar, Dec 2021
A red wine of real elegance. The nose develops delicious aromas of well-ripe strawberries, raspberries and some spicy notes. The palate is well-rounded and fleshy, supported by a very mineral finish. It is worth waiting two to three years in bottle. Its structure and depth allow it to be matched with grilled red meats, with meats in highly seasoned sauces, with roast quail or pigeon." Tenuta dell'Ornellaia Ornellaia 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc / Petit Verdot from Bolgheri Superiore, Tuscany
"Tasted from barrel, the 2020 Bolgheri Superiore Ornellaia will be presented in the fall but won’t hit the market until spring of the following year. This is a beauty, so generous and opulent with fully seamless transitions. The wine’s traditional blend is mostly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with tiny percentages of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, although this warm vintage makes due with a pinch less of the Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit is selected across 107 hectares of Ornellaia vines, although the estate recently purchased an additional eight hectares next to Guado al Tasso in Castagneto Carducci, with terraces and vines aged between 15 and 28 years old. This broad and generous expression has a beautiful quality of fruit and oak that speaks to the very best of Italian winemaking. Drink: 2026-2050." 95-97, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Accendo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"Accendo's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as alluring as it was from barrel. Plush and sensual, with no hard edges, the 2019 possesses magnificent balance from start to finish. Dark-fleshed fruit, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol build as this sumptuous, racy Cabernet shows off its tremendous charm. Best of all, the 2019 offers quite a bit of immediacy. I would choose to drink it ahead of some of the more structured recent vintages. As always, the Accendo Cabernet is a blend of several top sites in Napa Valley. Tyler Rose of Pinot Noir 2022, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills, California
"From various high quality vineyard sites, our Rosé is composed from the free-run juice afforded to us by simply transporting the vintage’s first Pinot Noir to our cellar. During this short trip across the Sta. Rita at dawn, the Pinot Noir is gently pressed by its own weight, rendering our first taste of the vintage—and the basis for our exceptionally limited rosé. We carry this juice to a stainless steel tank and old barrique for fermentation using native yeasts, and then raise the wine in neutral oak for about four months. The wine is unfined and filtered. The resulting wine speaks of the Sta. Rita Hills with unique clarity and tension: it is at once floral and mineral, carried by a through-line of bracing acidity and sea spray." Winery Notes

Chappellet Cabernet Sauvignon Signature 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Malbec / Petite Verdot / Merlot from Napa Valley, California
"This is very complex, with blackcurrants, tobacco and cedar. Some sandalwood and terra-cotta, too. Medium-to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins that are creamy-textured and so long and pure. Attractive and complex. 77% cabernet sauvignon with petit verdot, malbec and merlot. So good now to drink, but will age beautifully. Drink or hold." 95, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature is a terrific wine and a big overachiever in its price range. Black cherry, plum, mocha, lavender, spice, licorice and new leather lend tons of complexity to this bold, luscious Cabernet. This overt, upfront Cabernet offers plenty of near and medium-term appeal." 93, Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com
"Always a smoking value that readers shouldn't miss, the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Signature sports a dense purple color to go with beautiful cassis and blueberry-like fruits as well as bouquet garni, spice, and obvious, rocky mineral-like aromas and flavors. Rich and medium to full-bodied, with notable structure and good acidity, it's going to keep for two decades in cold cellars. It's a candidate for the best Napa Cabernet under $100." 94 Jeb Dunnuck

Woodward Canyon Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Petit Verdot from Columbia Valley, Washington
"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series comes from a mix of vineyards and includes 7% Petit Verdot, all aged in 54% new French oak. (There's a splash of Hungarian oak as well.) Darker currants, mulberries, new leather, lead pencil, and plenty of herbal, floral notes emerge from this medium to full-bodied red, a pure, incredibly polished, balanced effort with loads of character. It already offers pleasure today yet should evolve for another 20 years if stored correctly. Drink: 2022-2042. 94, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
"The 2019 is the 28th edition of the Cabernet Sauvignon Artist Series. This version blends 93% Cabernet Sauvignon with 7% Petit Verdot. The palate revels in its beautiful balance and green bell pepper notes. A massive core of blackberry and black cherry greets you, followed by savory undertones and a lengthy finish. Dominio de Pingus Flor de Pingus 2020, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León
"Flor is what Peter Sisseck calls "my village wine", sourced from La Horra with a smidgeon from Olmedillo. Featuring 3% Grenache for the first time, as well as 0.5% of white grapes, it's a gentle, precise, beautifully balanced red, with granular tannins, plum, liquorice and wild strawberry flavours and a subtle, palate-caressing finish." 95, Tim Atkin, TimAtkin.com
"There is around 20% new oak in the 2020 Flor de Pingus, and because it has a little younger vines (there was a land-consolidation project in La Horra in 2006!), there'll be some Garnacha starting in 2021 and maybe some oak vats for aging too. All this shows the direction, where he found structure and volume in the palate, with textured tannins. It's harmonious and elegant, aromatic and floral, perfumed and showy, with contained ripeness and around 14% alcohol. The palate is quite powerful, with abundant but fine tannins." 94+, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Manni Nössing Müller-Thurgau Sass Rigais 2021, 0.75L
Müller-Thurgau from Alto Adige Valle Isarco Eisacktal, Trentino Alto Adige Südtirol
"Like chiseling away at sheer rock, the 2021 Müller-Thurgau Sass Rigais opens with a smoky and chalky burst of minerality that I find wildly attractive. With swirling, the palate leans more toward fruit, revealing lime zest and crushed green apples. This is silky-smooth, displaying undeniable elegance, just as a salty flourish and citrus-tinged acids effortlessly cut through its textural opulence. The 2021 finishes dry with tropical inner florals and tension that demands patience. The Sass Rigais can be enjoyed today for its potential, but further cellaring is recommended. Manni Nössing’s 2021s are intense, to say the least. The house style of crystalline, mineral-focused, restrained wines has combined beautifully with the vintage's intense ripe fruit and zesty acidity." 92 Eric Guido, Vinous

Thierry Germain Domaine des Roches Neuves Franc De Pied 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Saumur Champigny, Loire
The 2020 Franc de Pied is incredibly reductive when it was first opened and needed a lot of time and a swirl with a copper coin. If you can be patient ( 5 minutes with a penny in your glass, or your currency’s equivalent), It’s worth the wait. It reveals itself to be a richly fruited, savory style that fills the mouth with a balloon of chalky silkiness. The limestone element really shows itself on the long finish grained texture and sinew. As you’d hope from Saumyr-Champigny, there’s no sense of weight or heft. Detectable now but has the structure to develop over the coming two decades.” 94 Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, June 2022

“The 2020 Les Memoires is a round and elegant Cabernet Franc. It’s a not-trying wine that exudes a sense of calm and ease as it rolls around your mouth seamlessly. Maybe it’s the 100-year old vines doing their thing. There’s no oak getting in the way, allowing the purity of fruit to shine. It remains true to its variety and place, while its light spice meets dark fruits. Forget the fruit flavors, this is all about refined texture and its fine, chalky, powdery veil of tannins lightly coating the palate. Long and textural, this is not a wine you’ll regret...” 94 Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, June 2022

Haut Segottes St. Emilion 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc / Merlot from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
Tradition reigns at Haut-Ségottes. Harvest is manual. Fermentation takes place in cuve. Wines are rotated into barrel for an “elevage” of approximately 18 months. Approximately 20% of the barrels are new. Wines are bottled unfiltered. Although the majority of the vineyards are planted to Merlot (see above), the ultimate cuvée bottled as Chateau Haut Segottes Saint Emilion Grand Cru features a majority of Cabernet Franc. This dominance of Cabernet Franc (frequently on the order of 65%) produces a wine of considerable structure and is exceptionally age-worthy. We purchase 10,000 bottles per annum for sale in the USA. Stains the palate with sappy black and blue and floral pastille flavors; black pepper and mineral accents add lift and back-end cut. Quite deep but energetic as well, finishing on a building tannic note and with impressive, dark fruit-dominated persistence.” 95-96 Josh Raynolds Vinous, Dec 2022

Château Grillet 2019, 0.75L
Viognier from Château-Grillet, Rhône
“A real burst of fresh apricot and peach, lemon verbena and
green tea. This has the salt and power of Château-Grillet, the confit lemon
peel on the finish, the salted nuts. Very full-bodied indeed, very rounded and
long, but not massive, more spherical.” 97 Matt Walls, Decanter, Oct 2020

Silvio Giamello Villa Gentiana Langhe Nebbiolo 2021, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Langhe, Piedmont
“…As the Langhe Nebbiolo is a selection from Vicenziana, the same parcel that produces the estate’s Barbaresco, the wines share a beauteous finesse on the palate. Auguste Clape Cornas 2020, 0.75L
Syrah from Cornas, Rhône
“Glass-staining ruby. Intensely perfumed dark berry preserve, violet oil, olive, cured meat and woodsmoke scents show fine definition and vibrant spice- and mineral – driven lift. Offers palate-staining, spice-laced blackberry, bitter cherry, fruitcake and violet pastille flavors that deepen and open steadily through the palate, while maintaining energy. The strikingly long, penetrating finish features youthfully chewy tannins, a sweet touch of cola and lingering floral and exotic spice qualities. All whole clusters and no new oak, as usual." 97-98 Josh Raynolds, Vinous, Dec 2022

Latour 2010, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Pauillac, Bordeaux
"The 2010 Latour can be summed up in two words: 'The king.' It convincingly asserts its superiority over other 2010s, including First Growths, in terms of its aromatic complexity, precision, balance, intensity, complexity and persistence. Simply a faultless Latour that ranks among its greatest achievements. The 2010 Latour is conspicuously deep in colour. It has an intellectual, intense and captivating bouquet with mineral-rich black fruit, graphite and crushed rose petal scents. Utterly spellbinding. The palate is the real deal. Heavenly balance, perfect acidity with seamlessly integrated new oak, there is an enthralling crescendo towards a finish that is simply as good as Bordeaux gets. Impeccable." 100 Neal Martin, Vinous, Feb 2020
"The 2010 Latour is deep garnet in color, and—WOW—it erupts from the glass with powerful crème de cassis, Black Forest cake and blackberry pie scents plus intense sparks of dried roses, cigar boxes, fragrant earth and smoked meats with aniseed and crushed rocks wafts. Full-bodied, concentrated and oh-so-decadent in the mouth, it has a firm, grainy texture and lovely freshness carrying the rich, opulent fruit to an epically long finish. It is incredibly tempting to drink now, but I suspect this hedonic experience isn't a scratch on the mind-blowing, otherworldly secrets this time capsule will have to reveal given another 7-10 years in bottle and continuing over the following fifty years++." 100 Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, March 2020

Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont
“Packaged in its distinctive brown paper label, the Produttori del Barbaresco 2018 Barbaresco is a beautifully lean and luminous expression of Nebbiolo, and that pretty color should remain intact over time. The aromas are bold and ripe with dark and purple fruit, but the bouquet shows interesting twists with earth, truffle, licorice and grilled herb. As the wine opens in the glass, you begin to notice heavier aromas of raisin and dried apricot.” 93 Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

"The 2019 Audacious is a blend of 31% Grenache, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Carignan and 17% Syrah, matured 19 months in 51% new French oak. Dominio de Anza/Diego Magaña Bierzo Tinto Selección de Parcelas 2020, 0.75L
Mencía / Bastardo / Garnacha Tintorera from Bierzo, Castilla Y Leon
I found earthier notes and a darker aromas in the 2020 Dominio de Anza Selección de Parcelas, a common thing in the 2020s, perhaps a little reductive. In 2020, part of the wine comes from a new plot on slate soils in the village of San Lorenzo, and perhaps it has some notes reminiscent of a Barolo. The profile of the wine has changed: it's not as aromatic as the 2019, and it has a different texture with more noticeable tannins. This 15% of the wine from a different zone and soil has changed it. It might require more time. 8,900 bottles produced. 94 Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

JL Vergnon Blanc de Blancs Eloquence Extra Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Champagne
The NV Extra- Brut Eloquence Grand Cru is another impressive wine in this range from Vergnon. The low dosage of three grams per liter brings out freshness and energy. Lemon peel, mint, white flowers and crushed rocks build effortlessly in the glass. The release, based on 2017 with 20% reserve wines, is gorgeous. Give this a good bit of air, as it opens nicely over time. Disgorged May 2021. 93 Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate, Nov 2022

Geoffroy Blanc de Rosé de Saignée Extra Brut NV, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Cumières , Champagne
"Derived from the 2013 vintage and disgorged in March 2019, the latest release of Geoffroy's NV Extra-Brut Rosé de Saignée Blanc de Rose is showing nicely, offering up scents of crisp apple, rye toast, red berries and cherries. Medium to full-bodied, chiseled and precise, it's seamless and textural, with a notably elegant, fine-boned profile by the standards of this habitually vinous, broad-shouldered cuvée." Evening Land Chardonnay Seven Springs Vineyard Summum 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon
"This one of the top sites for Chardonnay in Oregon. The grapes are pressed as whole clusters and run directly into used casks for fermentation on native yeasts. The wine does full malolactic conversion, but it neither stirred nor racked during aging. The result has a lovely ripe apple and quince fruit with a suggestion of chamomile. The texture is creamy and rich, but there is no fat, and the overall impression is very Burgundian. Superb length and great aging potential make this is an imposing wine. Drinking Window 2021 - 2031." 95 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter Magazine
"Shows dimension and presence, with elegantly multilayered flavors of Meyer lemon, apple skin, yeasty lees and crushed stone that gather richness and steely opulence on the lingering finish. Drink now through 2023. 327 cases made." 95 Wine Spectator, Aug 2022
