The Mascot Proprietary Red 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California
"The Mascot began as a family wine, unnamed, unlabeled—a blend made for and poured at our own table. The components were of the highest pedigree, harvested from the younger vines of the Harlan family domain. The domain traces its beginning to the founding in 1984 of Harlan Estate, located in the western hills of Oakville and conceived as a “first growth of California.” In 1996, the family established BOND, a portfolio of “Grand Cru” vineyards whose wines showcase the range of expression of cabernet sauvignon across distinct geographical sites within the Napa Valley. Promontory, whose land the family acquired in 2008, is led by the family’s second generation and represents a 21st-century approach to winegrowing. As these varied sites were gradually replanted, many of the young vines contributed to my project. Yet, despite these distinguished origins, my early endeavor could only hint at the individual character embodied by each of our grands vins." Producer Notes

Max Ferd. Richter Riesling Estate 2021, 0.75L
Riesling from Mosel, Mosel
The 2021er Richter Estate Riesling, as it is referred to on the consumer label, is an off-dry wine (with 28 g/l of residual sugar) made from young vines in the Grand Cru vineyards Brauneberger Juffer, Erdener Treppchen, and Graacher Himmelreich. It offers a superbly spicy and zesty nose with good complexity as scents of anise, smoke, minty herbs, white peach, cassis, and licorice. The wine is delicately playful on the palate as some fine and tickly acidity gives focus to the nicely aromatic palate. The finish is airy, fresh, and lead by flavors of anise and candied grapefruit. Now-2031. 89 Points, Jean Fisch & David Rayer, Mosel Fine Wine

Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto 2020, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Tuscany, Tuscany
."A forceful and profound Guidalberto that tells the story of the 2020 vintage with a very dark profile reminiscent of black cherry, black plums, dark chocolate, burnt sage, and marjoram. Fresher nuances emerge slowly with the passage of minutes in the glass, proceeding to a progressive balsamic character accented with dried white flowers and mandarin juice fused with green tones reminiscent of peppermint. Full bodied, powerful, and layered on the palate, it demonstrates grace and character within a considerably languid disposition. Gorgeous right from the start, but better after 2024." 94 Points, Raffaele Vecchione, WinesCritic.com

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2014, 0.75L
Pinot Noir / Chardonnay from Champagne, Champagne
"This vivid Champagne shows up-front and linear definition, thanks to rapierlike acidity, with finely meshed flavors of ripe black cherry and mandarin orange fruit, raw almond, anise and cardamom spice as well as a touch of honeycomb, which all unfurl and expand on the fine, creamy palate. Sleek acidity continues through to the finish, with additional racy character provided by a streak of minerally saline and chalk, which gains momentum through the midpalate and rings out on the well-cut, lasting finish. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay." 98, Allison Napjus, Wine Spectator

Jean et Sébastien Dauvissat Chablis Les Preuses 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy
"The 2018 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru brings together all the best elements of the house style. Brisk and inviting with terrific energy, the Preuses has so much to offer. Like the Vaillons Vieilles Vignes, the Preuses was vinified in wood, and yet it shows better oak integration and a greater sense of completeness. A kick of Preuses mineral and floral notes punctuate the finish."92-94 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous
There is very good Chablis character to the aromas of petrol, quinine, tidal pool and various white-fleshed fruit scents that are trimmed in noticeable if discreet wood toast. The oak influence can be discerned on the palate as well as the firm, serious and youthfully austere finale. 91-93 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Morgen Long Chardonnay Seven Springs Vineyard 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon
"The 2020 vintage of Seven Springs Vineyard chardonnay from Morgen Long was raised in sixty percent new oak this year (new Damy five hundred liter puncheon) and forty percent in a one wine three hundred and fifty liter cask. The wines comes in at 13.2 percent this year, with ninety cases produced. It offers up a beautifully gentle oak shading in its bouquet of pear, almond, chalky soil tones, chamomile, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with lovely mineral drive and grip, zesty acids and lovely length and grip on the complex and very nicely balanced finish. This is a new oaky example of chardonnay that is also long on soil signature. Fine juice." 92+ John Gilman, View from the Cellar
"I tasted the grey label version of the 2020 Chardonnay Seven Springs, which opens with flinty reduction, along with savory herbs of chive, green apple, and lemon verbena. The palate is fresh with chalky texture, lemon curd, white flowers, baking spice, and a hint vanilla bean on the back end. Seth Morgen Long began making his wines in 2014 and is exclusively dedicated to the production of Willamette Valley Chardonnay. Originally from North Carolina, his family relocated to the Willamette Valley when he was nine. Having worked for Domaine de Montille in 2012 and 2013, he took their model for winemaking and returned to the Willamette Valley. Seth had been making his wines in the Lingua Franca facilities until this year, when they sold to Constellation. He is currently operating out of Michael Etzel’s space down the road from Beaux Freres. His style continues to evolve, although the wines remain about purity and focus, and they are well worth seeking out." 93 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

Morgen Long Chardonnay Willamette Valley 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Willamette Valley, Oregon
"The 2020 Willamette Valley bottling of chardonnay from Seth Long has turned out beautifully. This is composed from fruit from three top vineyards: sixty percent Yamhill Vineyard, twenty-five percent X Omni Vineyard and fifteen percent Durant Vineyard. The wine is clean and pure on the nose, offering up a complex blend of pear, apple, acacia blossoms, a touch of beeswax, a lovely base of soil and a nice framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and complex, with lovely acids, fine focus and grip, a very good core of fruit and a long, soil-driven and beautifully balanced finish. This will drink beautifully from release and is really a lovely bottle." 91 Points, John Gillman, View from the Cellar

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley) is a gorgeous wine, especially for Dunn fans who want a wine to drink that won't take forever to come around. Dark and savory, with terrific depth, the 2018 is full of character. Black cherry, lavender, chocolate, sage, mint and cloves all open in the glass. The 2018 has just enough grip to have a good amount of classic structure, but not to the point of being forbidding. The Napa Cabernet is about 55% Howell Mountain and 45% Coombsville fruit. Chateau Leoville-Barton 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Julien, Bordeaux
"Léoville-Barton is one of the very few wines, from any appellation, that combines power and finesse with such grace in 2017. Rich, deep and wonderfully expressive, the 2017 has so much offer. The high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon comes through loud and clear. Inky dark, fruit, game, spice, mint, licorice and lavender all build in a wine of regal elegance and head spinning beauty. For its combination of quality and price, Léoville-Barton remains one the most consumer-friendly wines of the Left Bank. The blend is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot. The September rains were especially challenging for the Merlot and Cabernet Franc. As a result, Cabernet is pushed up in the blend, while there is no Franc at all. Palmer 2022, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc from Margaux, Bordeaux
“So much class in the nose with a sophisticated kaleidoscope of dark fruit such as blackcurrants, and spices such as salt and pepper, as well as cloves and nutmeg. Full-bodied. Compacted and dense yet weightless. It opens beautifully. The tannins go on and on with wonderful presence. Salty undertones.” 98-99 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com
"The 2022 Palmer was cropped at just 22hL/ha due to the berries being 25-30% smaller than usual. It bursts forth on the nose with precocious black cherries, blueberry, violet and touches of marmalade and tobacco in the background. Complex and expressive. The palate is structured, with the tannic backbone, that winemaker Thomas Duroux talked about, lending this Palmer a sense of verticality. Hints of black pepper emerge with time, multi-layered, a powerful Margaux and yet the IPT is actually lower than elsewhere (76). Quite linear on the tobacco-infused finish, which is just quintessential Palmer. Do reserve a bin in your cellar for this and let it gather dust for at least a decade. 14.4% alcohol." 96-98 Neil Martin, Vinous
The 2022 Château Palmer is utterly brilliant, so much so that I questioned in my notes if this would challenge the 2018. A blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, from tiny yields of 22 hectoliters per hectare, its mammoth-sized personality offers layers of blue and black fruits, notes of melted chocolate, crushed stone, and spring flowers, building, velvety tannins, and a great, great finish. 97-99 Jeb Dunnuck

Domaine de La Vieille Julienne Chateauneuf-du-Pape Réservé 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Syrah / Cinsault / Counoise from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône
"Lastly, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Reserve is another magical wine, and I might have rated this cuvée a perfect score more than any other Southern Rhône. Unquestionably in the same realm as the 2017, 2016, 2010, 2005, 2003, and 2001, it has an incredible, full-bodied, massive style that somehow stays perfectly balanced, with flawless integration of its fruit, tannins, acidity, and alcohol. Lots of red, blue, and black fruits, loamy earth, Asian spice, licorice, and violet nuances emerge from the glass, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, building yet polished tannins, and a great, great finish. It’s a sexier, more opulent wine than the Les Hauts-Lieux release yet has the same perfect tannins that are so rare to find in the vintage. This required at least 4-5 years of bottle age and will drink brilliantly for 20-25+ years." 100 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

The palate is medium-bodied with terrific texture and very clean and focused flavors, and it has the chalky texture from the limestone-rich soils. 28,000 bottles produced. Pinot Noir from Savigny-lès-Beaune, Burgundy
"The 2019 Savigny-lès-Beaune Hauts-Jarrons 1er Cru comes from north-northeast- facing vines, whereas the domaine's others are south-facing. The soil is also slightly deeper and sandier here. This has the most floral bouquet, offering more red fruit and mineralité, and the best transparency of Pinoté among Chenu’s 2019s. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Cohesive and structured, leading to a vivid, slightly tart finish. Ciacci Piccolomini d`Aragona Brunello di Montalcino 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany
"Aromas of cedar, berry, mushroom and burnt orange follow through to a full body with medium, chewy tannins and a fluid, flavorful finish. Not overdone." 93 Points, James Suckling, JamesSukling.com
"Generous, layered and rich, the Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona 2017 Brunello di Montalcino shows the generous fruit and deep layering that identifies this vintage . . . . This edition (with 69,000 bottles made) shows a bright note of sweet cherry that features strongly both on the bouquet and the palate. The wine shows lots of soft fruit with almond, spice and wild rose. From a hot and dry vintage . . . . The Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona estate is located in a rather cool location with south-facing vines and well-draining galestro soils on the back side of Castelbuovo dell'Abate. I always like to think of this tiny hilltop hamlet as the place where the day's sunbeams shine in Montalcino before sunset. Scar of the Sea Zinfandel Lopez Vineyard 2022, 0.75L
Zinfandel from Cucamonga Valley, California
"Planted in 1918, 70 miles inland from Los Angeles and certified organic by CCOF, this vineyard is part of California history. Farmed today by the Galleano family, we are lucky to be able to make wine from this old vineyard. The vines are farmed without irrigation in granite rocks and sandy soil surrounded by freeways and track homes. This vineyard is one of the last reminders of an old California. This wine was picked in early August, fermented with native yeast and 50% whole cluster. The grapes were basket pressed at dryness and then aged for 8 months in old French oak barrels before being racked for the first time to bottle, without fining or filtration, and with minimal sulfur used. Think candied raspberry and blueberry, accents of tea leaves, dried flowers and dusty earth" Winery Notes

Godello from Bierzo, Castilla y León
"They have lowered the alcohol and ripeness in most of the whites, but some vineyards are more difficult than others... The 2020 Ultreia La Claudina comes from a plot on sandy soils that needs higher ripeness to avoid excess bitterness. In 2020 it matured in 50% new barrels as they wanted to see how the wine behaved. It has power and consistence, but the style is a little different from what the wine was before, a little creamier and marked by the élevage. It's more exuberant and quite the opposite from the rectitude of La del Vivo. There are some 2,200 bottles from 1,700 liters of wine." 94 Points, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Ridge Vineyards Zinfandel Benito Dusi Ranch 2020, 0.75L
Zinfandel - Primitivo from Paso Robles, California
"This is a generous red with tannins that spread across the palate. The fruit shows so much dark berry, chocolate and walnut husk character. It's long and flavorful. Juicy Dusi. Drink now or hold." 94 James Suckling

Kistler Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Sonoma Valley, California
"The 2019 Chardonnay Kistler Vineyard is stunning all the way, with a vibrant, racy, focused, and salty nose of crushed lemons, crushed stone, white flowers, and green almonds. Also gorgeous on the palate, this medium to full-bodied, quintessential, layered, balanced Sonoma Chardonnay is going to shine for a solid decade or more if well stored." 98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Joseph Swan Pinot Noir Cuvée de Trois 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley, California
"As always, a blend of Swan’s vineyard designated Pinot Noir. Every Pinot Noir is made to be the best it can be with
a barrel-by-barrel selection process just before bottling. As opposed to the vineyard wines, which, by their very nature are idiosyncratic, the attempt with this wine is to make one that represents the whole of the Russian River Valley." Winery Notes

Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino Passo Del Lume Spento 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany
"The Le Ragnaie 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Passo del Lume Spento (with 3,020 bottles made) sees its fruit sourced from one of the highest places in the appellation, or the "pass of the extinguished lantern," as the wine's name translates into English. It is part of a broader trend that Montalcino vintners seem to be looking for cooler, high-altitude growing sites for Sangiovese. This wine demonstrates without a doubt that elevation is key in obtaining elegance in the warm years. This Brunello is particularly bright, punchy and energetic. It is one of the stars of this report." 96+ Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Le Ragnaie Brunello di Montalcino Casanovina Montosoli 2017, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Brunello di Montalcino, Tuscany
"This is one of three black-label special selections made by Le Ragnaie. The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Casanovina Montosoli has a tonic and bright character with dark fruit flavors, blackcurrant and tarry smoke. The wine feels tightly knit and compact, but it takes on more volume and momentum, especially as it hits the palate. In fact, it ends on a long and polished note with some crushed limestone or dusty mineral. Production is limited to 2,900 bottles." 95 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Les Forts de Latour 2016, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Pauillac, Bordeaux
"The 2016 Les Forts de Latour is the clear highlight among these new releases from Latour. The first thing that is evident about the 2016 is the pedigree of the vintage. Undisputedly great. Readers will find a potent, dark Forts de Latour endowed with massive concentration and tons of depth. The 2016 won't be ready to drink anytime soon, but it holds tons of promise. Hints of gravel, sage, licorice and pencil shavings linger. The 2016 was impressive a few years ago. It is even better today." 96 Antonio Galloni, Vinous
"The fresh currant and violet aromas are so complex and beautiful on the nose. Full body, ultra-refined tannins and lovely tannin tension. Shows focus and such finesse. Beautiful finish." 96 James Suckling

Haut-Bailly 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux
"The 2017 Haut-Bailly is racy and polished to the core, with no hard edges and just exceptional beauty. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice, new leather, incense, and grilled herb overtones infuse the 2017 with striking layers of nuance, but it is the wine's feel that really elevates it into the realm of Pessac-Léognan's best. The 2017 is an elegant and exceptionally understated Haut-Bailly." Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, Mar 2020

Charles Smith Syrah Stoneridge Vineyard Royal City 2015, 0.75L
Syrah from Columbia Valley, Washington
"Another magical Syrah is the 2015 Syrah Royal City. It shows a more finesse-driven (I wrote Burgundian in my notes), ethereal style as well as a beautiful perfume of kirsch and black cherry liqueur intermixed with notes of crushed flowers, ground herbs, pepper, and dried earth. Full-bodied, seamless, and ultra-fine on the palate, it has no hard edges and flawless balance, all making for an incredibly thrilling Syrah that’s already a joy to drink. Nevertheless, this cuvée will evolve gracefully and keep for 10-15 years." 98 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com
