Francois Chidaine Montlouis-sur-Loire Clos du Breuil 2021, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Montlouis sur Loire, Loire
"Produced from 35+ year old vines, this wine is normally vinified dry. From a single vineyard parcel on one of the highest points in the appellation. The soils here are comprised of silex (flint) and a small amount of clay over limestone bedrock. Always vinified dry, this is one of the purest expressions of Montlouis that one can find. Plenty of minerals, pear and some quince in the nose, the acidity is crisp and intense giving way to a full wine that opens up over the palate leaving more quince and river rock sensations." Domaine du Haut Bourg Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu Sur Lie Le Pavillon 2021, 0.75L
Melon de Bourgogne from Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu Sur Lie, Loire
"This reserve bottling from Choblet is produced from the older vines of the estate and the choicest vineyard parcels. Bottled unfiltered, it is chalk-full of minerals and bracing acidity. Showing greater length than the regular bottling, it is also much more dense and full of tension. With air, it opens up to classic melon, citrus notes in the nose, but more reserved and more complex." Importer Notes

Goisot Exogyra Virgula Sauvignon Blanc de Saint-Bris 2021, 0.75L
Sauvignon Blanc from Saint-Bris, Burgundy
From 4.38 hectares of vineyard land from the lieux-dits of Cornevin, Cote de la Canne and La Roncie. 50% of the vines are 10-15 years old and 50% are 15-40 years in age.
The wine is vinified at cold temperatures in stainless steel vats using native yeasts and aged on its fine lees. It shares many attributes with top bottlings of Sancerre from terres blanches soils, and it is generally cropped at lower yields than all but the very best estates in Sancerre. Brilliant minerality and poise from this master of the appellation. Nose of citrus and melon. Very long and intense. Beaune Imports

Vinedos del Jorco Las Enebradas Navalgordo 2017, 0.75L
Grenache from Paraje del Jorco, Castilla y León
"I was really looking forward to the 2017 Las Enebradas, because the first vintage, 2016, was the revelation of my last review of the zone of Gredos. I was quite surprised because the profile is very different: the wine has a lot more color and up to 2% more alcohol. Nacho Jiménez, one of the partners, explained that the profile of the 2016 vintage was exceptional and hard to replicate, as yields were higher and it rained just before they picked the grapes, so the wine is a lot lighter. 2017 was very different, a lot warmer and with lower yields, and the grapes delivered a concentrated juice with a lot more color, tannin and alcohol. It has a more Mediterranean profile, more in line with the rest of the wines. This fermented with 50% full clusters and temperature control and matured in one 500-liter oak barrel. Despite the higher ripeness and the headier character, the wines from Navatalgordo have a different texture and fine thread, the finesse of a cooler place and sandy soils at higher altitude (even if the vines are south-facing here), and you see it when tasting this next to the wines from Cebreros. It's more elegant and fresher. 570 bottles were filled in August 2019." 93 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Tameran Vijariego Gran Canaria Blanco 2020, 0.75L
Vijariego Blanco from Gran Canaria, Canarias
"Vijariego Blanco, also known as Diego, is thought to have been introduced in the Canaries from Andalucía and is not a mutation of Vijariego. There are multiple spellings, most notably Vijariego and Vijiriego, even Bujariego in La Palma, but this name is not allowed anymore. It’s a grape with high acidity and lowish alcohol, so it’s often used for sparkling wines. The 2020 Vijariego Blanco is only 11.2% alcohol with a low pH of 3.14 and notable acidity, 7.5 grams (measured in tartaric acid per liter), so it's a light and sharp wine true to the variety. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in 500-liter oak barrels, where it matured with lees for 10 months. It's floral and vibrant, the latest-ripening grape here, with more freshness. It's a wine that should develop nicely in bottle. This is a little shy compared with its siblings, but it's a wine that will gain with time in bottle. 1,320 bottles were filled in June 2021." 93 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

Tre Monti Thea Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore Riserva 2018, 0.75L
Sangiovese from Sangiovese di Romagna Superiore Riserva, Emilia Romagna
"The 2018 Sangiovese Superiore Riserva Thea really shows the potential of Romagna Sangiovese. This pulls you close to the glass with a dazzling bouquet of black cherries, mixed with licorice, dusty rose, cedar spice box and hints of cocoa. There’s an undeniable elegance to its silky textures, complimented by a polished display of ripe red berries, plums and blood orange, but also a core of brilliant acidity that keeps the expression incredibly fresh. Salty minerals mingle with fine tannins throughout the long and structured finale, where notes of licorice and inner violet florals resonate on and on. This is packed full of balanced pleasure, yet it also has all the components to excel through medium-term cellaring." 93 Eric Guido, Vinous

Ronco Severo Artiul Merlot Riserva Friuli Colli Orientali 2017, 0.75L
Merlot from Colli Orientali del Friuli, Friuli Venezia Giulia
"The dark and spicy 2017 Artïûl wafts up with balsam herbs, allspice and cloves complementing black cherry and hints of cocoa. This enters the palate with prominence through it's mineral-tinged red berries that saturate but also energized by brisk acids. It displays tremendous length with grippy tannin yet also remains primary and intense. Hold on to your seat today with this high-test, varietal Merlot, yet time should mellow it out and unlock further depths." 93 Eric Guido, Vinous
"In the words of proprietor/winemaker Stefano Novello: 'This is perhaps my best wine. Artïûl is the name, in Friulano, given to the newly born grass that grows in the fields after the hay has been collected. This indeed, was the first new wine I produced when the management of the estate was handed down from by dad, Severo.'"

Fabio Motta Le Gonnare Bolgheri 2018, 0.75L
Merlot / Syrah from Bolgheri, Tuscany
"Fabio Motta is one of the best performers in Bolgheri among the small producers of the next generation. Almost ready with his new winery, it represents a kind of garagiste in the appellation. He ferments all the wines with natural yeast and manages careful extraction and maceration. His original blend for Le Gonnare sees an addition of Syrah to complete the 85% of Merlot and is aged in 1/3 new French oak barriques. Intense and perfumed it shows kiwi peel and cedar wood aromas, loaded with restrained cassis and bitter orange flavour. The attack is dense and ripe with elegant texture and chewy tension on the finish." 95 Aldo Fiordelli, Decanter Magazine
"Extremely complex and darkly primary in profile, with alternating notes of black plum, blackberry, incense, black tea leaves, licorice stick, and sandalwood. The palate is splendid, combining notes of blood orange and cut cedar. Full bodied with soft tannins, good structure, and a horizontal finish . . ." 92 Raffaele Vecchione, mmt.WinesCritic.com

Antichi Vigneti di Cantalupo Ghemme Collis Breclemae 2015, 0.75L

"The 2015 Ghemme Collis Breclemae is going to be gorgeous, but it needs time, as it is going through and adolescent phase at present. Brooding and somber, with quite a bit of complexity, the 2015 certainly has a ton to offer. Wild cherry, tobacco, spice, leather and cedar all build as this powerful, strapping Ghemme slowly opens. All the 2015 needs is cellaring to be at its most expressive. (Drink between 2025-2040)" 93 Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Le Domaine d'Henri Chablis 1er Cru L'Homme Mort Vieilles Vignes 2018, 0.75L

This has a complex and enticing bouquet of yellow stone fruit, apple peel and light stony scents. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly honeyed texture on the opening. Vivacious, with energy to spare toward the finish, this is a very fine "Dead Man" that should live on for another 10–15 years. Excellent." 92 Neal Martin, Vinous

Georges Laval Champagne Cumieres Les Hautes Chevres Brut Nature 2017, 0.750L
Pinot Meunier / Pinot Noir from Cumières, Champagne
"It is hard to believe that Vincent Laval’s bottling from les Hautes Chèvres made the switch from very old vine pinot noir after the 2009 vintage to (not quite so) old vine pinot meunier in 2010 and never missed a beat in terms of quality and aging potential. The 2017 is the eighth harvest of pinot meunier composition for this beautiful cuvée and it is another gorgeous young wine. The bouquet is bright, pure and complex, offering up scents of tangerine, apple, brioche, chalky soil tones, lavender, acacia blossoms and just a hint of oak in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied, crisp and deep at the core, with lovely transparency and grip, pinpoint bubbles, precise focus, seamless balance and a very, very long, refined and complex finish. Great, great juice." 96 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Chardonnay / Pinot Meunier / Pinot Noir from Garennes, Champagne
"Garennes is a multi-vintage solera type blend featuring Pinot Meunier, Pinot Noir & Chardonnay from the villages of Chambrecy, Damery, Cumières & Hautvillers. This ongoing blend is then blended with at least 50% of the current vintage base wine from the same plots and varietals. Notes of minerals, pear and citrus in the nose lead into a wine with gorgeous balance and persistence. The sophisticated balance between precise mineral precision and fleshy texture make this a wine with few precedents in our experience." Beaune Imports

Cameron Pinot Noir Abbey Ridge Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Dundee Hills, Oregon
“Cameron might not be a familiar name internationally speaking, however, certainly within Oregon and among cognoscenti, John-Paul Cameron is a bastion of artisanal winemaking when, around him, deluxe, state-of-the-art wineries are sprouting. Sure, these new arrivals unintentionally make Cameron's estate look a bit ‘shabby,’ but their wines are anything but. In some ways their ethos reminds me of Jean-François Coche... John-Paul was out doing the rounds when I visited, delivering his limited production wines directly to long-standing clients, apparently his favorite weekly chore. That again reminded me of Coche-Dury - a renowned producer whose loyalty remains with his longstanding customers. John-Paul does not appear concerned with pursuing high prices for his wine or creating a brand image. He just makes the wines in a simple manner and then delivers them to contented customers. I was met by assistant winemaker Tom Sivilli and their 17-year-old moggy that is still doing his bit by catching mice. There is no tasting room facility here and because they are so busy, they rarely accept visitors, so I tasted the small number of bottled wines up in the kitchen and then descended down to the barrel cellar to taste from barrel …. Tom opined that the 2014s will benefit from a little more ageing in barrel, more than the usual 11 months that the Oregon Pinot Noirs are given, and they will be bottled this coming August. I also asked Tom about their methodology towards picking: ’We don't pick on Brix,’ he explained. ‘We pick when the color is starting to bleed out of the skin and when the pH goes up. We go out into the vineyard, taste the seeds and the fruit. Usually we are early.’ John-Paul Cameron's wines comes highly recommended.” Neal Martin, Wine Advocate

G.D. Vajra Barolo Coste Di Rose 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont
"With fruit from higher-elevation vineyards in the village of Barolo, the 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose is quite elegantly downplayed and fragile. The wine reveals wild berry, cassis and lots of blue flower or lilac. A pretty mineral note recalls crushed limestone and is present through the long and polished mouthfeel. This wine overperforms, considering the challenges of this vintage that saw extreme weather, from spring frost to scorching summer temperatures. These vineyard sites performed better than most. Some 4,800 bottles were released." 94 Monica Larner, Wine Advocate
"The 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose has bright aromatics of candied raspberry, apricot, anise, and dusty earth. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine tannins and notes of dried wild strawberry, fresh roses, and mineral-rich earth. This wine is open and inviting, while maintaining freshness and drive. Drink 2024-2040.<!--more-->The G.D. Vajra estate is based within the commune of Barolo, where Giuseppe and Aldo Vajra helm the winemaking responsibilities. Giuseppe, who took more of a leadership role in 2008, has been instrumental in continuing to develop the family estate, while Isonzo Vajra leads in vineyard management. Most recently they have completed the expansion of their cellar space, and they are also releasing their wines a touch later to allow the additional time in bottle to soften any harsh edges. As of the 2019 vintage, both the G.D.Vajra and Luigi Baudana estates are certified organic." 94 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com
"The 2017 Barolo Coste di Rose is pretty, supple and inviting. Some of the tannins need to resolve, but this is a young Barolo after all. The Coste di Rose doesn't have the sensuality of the Albe or the pedigree of the Viole, but it nevertheless has so much to give. Crushed flowers, sweet red berry fruit, mint, crushed rocks and sage are some of the many notes that linger. I won't be surprised if the 2017 is even better than this note suggests once it softens a bit." 93 Antonio Galloni, VInous

Valdesil Pezas da Portela Godello 2018, 0.75L
Godello from Valdeorras, Galicia
"Pale, green-tinged yellow. Fresh pear, white peach and orange zest on the nose, with honeysuckle and mineral notes adding lift. Bright and sharply focused in the mouth, offering incisive citrus and orchard fruit flavors complemented by suggestions of fennel and quinine. Smoothly melds power and vivacity and finishes very long and nervy, showing outstanding clarity and minerally persistence. (Drink between 2021-2027)" 93 Josh Raynolds, Vinous
"The barrel-fermented Godello 2018 Pezas Da Portela has a more golden color and a creamy nose, spicy and somehow flinty, not oaky. It fermented and matured with lees and bâtonnage in French barriques for six months. The palate reveals complex flavors; it's nuanced with a mixture of mineral and gunpowder-like notes with notions of tangerine peel, quince paste and dried flowers, with yellow rather than white fruit. This comes from a myriad of small plots in the village of Portela, where the family Prada Gayoso originated. Serious, seamless and expressive Godello. 8,000 bottles produced. It rested in tank for one year before it was bottled in February 2020. Vinas Serranas El Canchorral 2019, 0.75L
Rufete from Castilla y León, Castilla y León
"The 2019 El Canchorral is a blend of Calabrés (Garnacha), Aragonés (Tempranillo), Verdejo Negro, Rufete Blanco, Palomino, Moscatel and other grapes planted 85 years ago on degraded pink granite soils. This is the only wine that ferments with 100% full clusters. It has a lot of white grapes and is more floral, with less alcohol (it's 13.5% even in this riper year), more acidity and a lower pH. It is more floral à la Fleury and very expressive, as they can use very low doses of sulfur in this wine given its higher natural acidity (possibly because of the white grapes). This comes from a very old vineyard, and the varieties feel very integrated and complement each other. It comes through as complex and nuanced, a little riper and showier than the 2018. The palate reflects the effect of the stems in the vinification a little. All of these single-vineyard wines matured in used oak barrels for some 15 months in 2019. Around 1,500 bottles were filled in May 2021." 94 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

"The 2019 Vernaccia di San Gimignano Fiore offers yellow flowers, orchard fruit, dried flowers, almonds and tangerine peel. Luigi Baudana Barolo Cerretta 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont
"A sweet perfume lifts from the 2017 Barolo Cerretta, with fresh violets, kirsch, cinnamon, and sage. The palate is energetic with forward fruit through the mid-palate with persistence, with tea leaf and present but well-integrated tannins. The Cerretta displays the elegance that is possible within the 2017 vintage. Drink 2022-2040. Since 2009, Luigi Baudana has been under the operation and ownership of the G.D. Vajra estate from Barolo. As with the Vajra estate, Giuseppe and Aldo manage the winemaking process, along with Giuseppe’s brother Isidoro, the vineyard manager. They continue to consult with Luigi for his understanding of the land and experience. They utilize primarily 15- to 17-hectoliter Slavonian barrels for aging, as the size of the cellar dictates. For the Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba bottling, selections are made from the crus of Baudana, Cerretta, and Costabella. With the 2019 vintage, they are now certified organic. (Drink between 2022-2040)" 96 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com
"A dark, somber wine, the 2017 Barolo Cerretta shows the more potent, brooding side of Serralunga. Black cherry, gravel, smoke, cured meats, cloves and menthol add to an impression of virile intensity and pure power. Vajra estate is based within the commune of Barolo, where Giuseppe and Aldo Vajra helm the winemaking responsibilities. "The 2017 Barolo Ravera is gorgeous right out of the gate. I am so impressed with its depth and pedigree. Rose petal, sweet red berry fruit, lavender, spice and dried herbs are all finely delineated in a Barolo of tremendous presence. Orange peel, cinnamon and cedar develop later, adding shades of dimension. Time in the glass brings out the wine's stature and power. The 2017 is going to be fascinating to follow. Mas de Daumas Gassac 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot / Pinot Noir / Malbec / Nebbiolo / Dolcetto from Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert, Languedoc Roussillon
"Dark ruby-garnet, with violet highlights and a wide, light rim. Elegant black forest berry confit, hints of ripe currant and dark cherry, and subtle noble wood spice underlain with candied orange zest and tobacco nuances. Full-bodied and very elegant and round, with fine, rich extract; showing heart cherry notes and ripe, integrated tannins, this is mineral and persistent, and still very fresh and youthful; this will continue to improve with years of aging in the bottle; this wine has class." 95 Falstaff Magazin, Aug 2020
"The 2018 Rouge opens with a burst of sweet red and purplish fruit that is immediately alluring. Medium in body and silky, the 2018 impresses with its understated finesse and total class. The 2018 can be enjoyed today for its primary fruit, but I would prefer to cellar it for a few years to gain a bit more nuance. It is such a pretty and effusive wine. Francois Chidaine Les Bournais Montlouis Sur Loire 2020, 0.75L

"The 2020 Les Bournais is a silky, seductive wine that retains a sense of shape despite its ripeness. The appellation of Montlouis has lots of clay-flint, but this is clay-chalk, and the result is a round yet focused style with fine length and line. The barrel fermentation and maturation (just 10% new) doesn't impart any flavor but adds to the roundness and gives support to the wine. Antoine Sunier Morgon 2020, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais
"Deep violet. Primary, mineral-tinged cherry, black raspberry and violet aromas take on a spicy nuance with air. Offers densely packed yet lively dark berry, cherry preserve and spicecake flavors and a touch of cola. Betrays no rough edges and shows excellent clarity on a strikingly long, subtly tannic finish that emphatically echoes the floral and mineral notes." 93 Josh Raynolds, Vinous
"Antoine Sunier’s Morgon hails from two lieux à dits, les Grands Cras and Croix de Chèvres, with all of the vines in excess of sixty years of age. The wine is fermented in cement vats with carbonic maceration and then racked off to old Burgundy casks for elevage. The 2020 Morgon is a beautiful wine in the making, delivering a superb aromatic constellation of black cherries, sweet dark berries, pomegranate, fresh thyme, dark soil tones, coffee bean and a topnote of bonfire. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, sappy and soil-driven, with a beautiful core of fruit, ripe, seamless tannins, lovely focus and grip and a long, beautifully balanced and complex finish. This is outstanding juice in the making." 93 John Gilman

Morgen Long Chardonnay Seven Springs Vineyard 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Eola-Amity Hills, Oregon
"The 2020 vintage of Seven Springs Vineyard chardonnay from Morgen Long was raised in sixty percent new oak this year (new Damy five hundred liter puncheon) and forty percent in a one wine three hundred and fifty liter cask. The wines comes in at 13.2 percent this year, with ninety cases produced. It offers up a beautifully gentle oak shading in its bouquet of pear, almond, chalky soil tones, chamomile, spring flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with lovely mineral drive and grip, zesty acids and lovely length and grip on the complex and very nicely balanced finish. This is a new oaky example of chardonnay that is also long on soil signature. Fine juice." 92+ John Gilman, View from the Cellar
"I tasted the grey label version of the 2020 Chardonnay Seven Springs, which opens with flinty reduction, along with savory herbs of chive, green apple, and lemon verbena. The palate is fresh with chalky texture, lemon curd, white flowers, baking spice, and a hint vanilla bean on the back end. Seth Morgen Long began making his wines in 2014 and is exclusively dedicated to the production of Willamette Valley Chardonnay. Originally from North Carolina, his family relocated to the Willamette Valley when he was nine. Having worked for Domaine de Montille in 2012 and 2013, he took their model for winemaking and returned to the Willamette Valley. Seth had been making his wines in the Lingua Franca facilities until this year, when they sold to Constellation. He is currently operating out of Michael Etzel’s space down the road from Beaux Freres. His style continues to evolve, although the wines remain about purity and focus, and they are well worth seeking out." 93 Audrey Frick, JebDunnuck.com

Morgen Long Chardonnay Willamette Valley 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Willamette Valley, Oregon
"The 2020 Willamette Valley bottling of chardonnay from Seth Long has turned out beautifully. This is composed from fruit from three top vineyards: sixty percent Yamhill Vineyard, twenty-five percent X Omni Vineyard and fifteen percent Durant Vineyard. The wine is clean and pure on the nose, offering up a complex blend of pear, apple, acacia blossoms, a touch of beeswax, a lovely base of soil and a nice framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and complex, with lovely acids, fine focus and grip, a very good core of fruit and a long, soil-driven and beautifully balanced finish. This will drink beautifully from release and is really a lovely bottle." 91 Points, John Gillman, View from the Cellar

Arnot-Roberts Syrah Clary Ranch 2017, 0.75L
Syrah from Sonoma Coast, California
"The 2017 Syrah Clary Ranch is striking. Deep and resonant on the palate, the 2017 has so much to say. Some of the angular edges and intense savoriness the Clary Ranch can show have been soften by the intense heat of the year. Silky, fine tannins wrap around a core of dark cherry, plum, lavender, spice and pepper. A Syrah of power and structural intensity, the Clary Ranch is incredibly distinctive, and that is in a lineup in which many of the wines are exceptional. Two thousand-seventeen is a superb vintage for the Clary Ranch Syrah." 96 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Enfield Wine Co. Chardonnay Citrine 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from California, California
"The 2018 Chardonnay “Citrine” bottling from Enfield Wine Company is composed from fruit from four different vineyards: Rorick Heritage, Heron Lake, Haynes and Brosseau Vineyard, with the average age of the vines fully forty years of age. While I do not have any specific information on its winemaking, it seems to have seen at least some of the blend fermented or raised in cement eggs. The bouquet is bright and classy, offering up scents of apple, lemon blossoms, a touch of lavender, a fine base of soil tones, citrus peel and a bit of beeswax in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied and nicely soil-driven in personality, with a good core, fine focus and grip, zesty acids and a long, nascently complex and quite classy finish. This is a nicely cool fruit chardonnay at 12.9 percent octane, with plenty of personality and the structure to age very well indeed. Good juice in a nicely offbeat style that recalls early vintages of Chalone, with less new oak. 2020-2035." 91 Points John Gilman, View From the Cellar

de Montille Puligny Montrachet 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Puligny Montrachet, Burgundy
"The majority of the fruit for this village Puligny is from a section of the Chalumeaux Premier Cru, that was declassified as village when a former owner brought in topsoil from outside the appellation in 1975. The bunches are lightly crushed and gently pressed, before being vinified in mostly old casks. The result has a beautiful, lemony fruit, with hints of flint and beeswax, plus a luxurious texture that splits the difference between opulence and racy finesse." 93 Points, Decanter Magazine

Georges Laval Cumieres Brut Nature NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay / Pinot Noir from Cumières, Champagne
"This is a blend of Vincent Laval’s south-facing premier cru vineyards in Cumières, just west of Epernay. Quite vinous in texture with no sweetness on the palate, the nose combines citrus, minerals and just a hint of toast. Quite dry on the palate, a year or two in bottle helps this wine to fill out and reach it’s full potential of expression. Ripe fruit is laced with scratchy mineral texture and long term persistence. Like precious few Champagnes, this is a very serious wine that will reward, year after year, any cellaring that it is accorded." Importer Notes
