Based on how well the wines that were still in tank showed, I have zero doubt that this wine too will deliver lovely precision and focus as well, once it has recovered from the mise. The bouquet offers up scents of apple, pear, chalky soil tones, a touch of citrus peel and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely balanced, with excellent material at the core, fine mineral undertow, zesty acids and impressive length and grip. "The 2020 Chardonnay Vino de los Ranchos is a new cuvée from Scar of the Sea, from own-rooted vines planted in 1973 near Bien Nacido vineyard. Still in barrel on the lees, the first sneak peek is promising. The nose offers singular aromas of panna cotta, Greek yogurt and yellow orchard fruits, and the palate is rounded and savory with a juicy bite of acidity and a creamy finish.
