Figeac 2018, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"This is pretty gorgeous, with velvety texture that lets nearly exotic cassis, plum and blackberry fruit reduction flavors roll through. Has a beautiful bass line of warm earth and smoldering tobacco notes all while keeping its sensational mouthfeel. The encore on the finish makes you realize this is the serious gourmet stuff. One of the highlights of the vintage." 97-100, James Molesworth, Wines Spectator, April 2, 2019

Le Carillon de l`Angelus 2018, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"Wild-strawberry, blackberry and blueberry aromas with some spices and herbs. It’s full-bodied with a balance of firm yet elegant tannins. The savory mid-palate leads to a clean finale with serious length. Hard not to drink this now, but it needs four or five years to show its true excellence. Second wine of Angelus. Try after 2025." 95 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, Apr 2019

Leoville Las Cases 2018, 1.5L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Julien, Bordeaux

"Pure magic and one of the finest expressions of this estate I could imagine, as well as a perfect wine, the 2018 Château Léoville Las Cases comes from a mix of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc that spent 19 months in (I believe) all new French oak. Its dense purple color is followed by a profound wine loaded with notions of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, melon, crushed stone, tobacco, and violets. Full-bodied, concentrated, and massive on the palate, yet also incredibly well delineated and precise, it has a wonderful mix of seemingly ripe, sunny fruit from a warm year yet the minerality, purity, and precision of a cooler year. This wine is going to be just about immortal; however, do your best to hide bottles for a solid 10-15 years. Drink: 2031-2081." 100 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, Mar 2021

Leoville-Barton 2018, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Julien, Bordeaux

"Dark ruby color with purple highlights, with a faint lightening at the rim. Multilayered bouquet with attractive noble wood notes, dark berries, a hint of liquorice, and notes of fresh orange zest. Juicy, ripe cherry notes and a discreet sweetness with silky, ripe tannins, an elegant structure, a salty finish, and very good length. Shows great harmony, a classic." 98, Falstaff Magazin, Feb 2021

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti Grands Echézeaux 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Grands-Echezeaux, Burgundy

“Here too there is moderate oak toast surrounding the notably ripe but restrained aromas of black cherry liqueur, violet, lavender, exotic tea and sandalwood. The rich, full-bodied and muscular flavors also brim with sappy dry extract that possess a seductive mouthfeel before culminating in a hugely long finish. Like the Echézeaux, this is a big, bold and robust effort that should develop gradually over the next 20 to 25 years. This is potentially one of the greatest Grands Echézeaux the Domaine has produced in the 21st C.” 93-96, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2020

“The 2018 Grands Échézeaux Grand Cru is a rich, muscular wine, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries, sweet berries, red fruit compote and plums mingled with subtle hints of exotic spices and peonies. Full-bodied, fleshy and broad-shouldered, with an ample core of fruit, powdery tannins, ripe acids and a long, heady finish. Out of the gates, the 2018 is something of a fruit bomb, but with time it should metabolize that puppy fat to become something special.” 94, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Nov 2022

Pinot Noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy

"The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel Air 1er Cru is overtly floral on the nose with raspberry, cranberry and light loamy aromas, more oyster shell scents emerging with time. The palate is well balanced, very terroir-driven with great tension and vibrant red cherry and strawberry fruit bursting forth on the finish. Superb." 94 Neal Martin, Vinous

Jean-Claude Marsanne Saint-Joseph 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from St. Joseph, Rhône

"Just a stone's throw from JL Chave and Gonon, this little-known winegrower delivers high-level Syrah at a price that is still angelic, a superb discovery...Deep colour with purple tints. Expressive nose of black fruits, notes of spices of cacao, mineral touch. In the mouth, a traditional, generous, powerful but balanced wine. We find the aromatic personality of the appellation on a beautiful length."

Louis Barruol Côte Rôtie La Boisselee 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from Côte Rôtie, Rhône

“Sure, it has the violets and spice of great Côte Rôtie, but also a dense and delicious Syrah luxuriance you want to bite off and chew. After a recent tasting, I tried to order a few bottles from the estate for my personal cellar and was sadly denied. Very few bottles of this wine were made, and with demand so high, every last one has now shipped off to the USA. I envy all who can still find a few for the cellar!” Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant

Cantine del Castello di Conti Boca Il Rosso delle Donne 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo / Vespolina / Uva Rara from Boca, Piedmont

"The 2018 Boca Il Rosso delle Donne is a very pure, focused wine built more on linear energy rather than power. Dried cherry, orange peel, spice, mint, anise and alpine herbs give this mid-weight, ethereal wine plenty of nuance and presence. The 2018 is fabulous. Readers who appreciate subtle reds will adore it." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Cascina Baricchi Barbaresco Riserva Rose Delle Casasse 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barbaresco, Piedmont

"The 2018 Barbaresco Riserva Rose delle Casasse offers lovely density and plenty of character. There's gorgeous depth in the mid-palate. Light fading at the edges and slight mature notes in the bouquet lead me to believe the 2018 will likely be more of a medium-term drinker, its notable presence notwithstanding. Tobacco, dried herbs, mint, leather, cinnamon and dried autumn leaves all develop with a bit of aeration. The 2018 is a gorgeous wine whose only shortcoming is that it tastes a bit older than it should." 93, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Oct 2024

Ferrando Carema Etichetta Bianca 2018, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Carema, Piedmont

"If there is any wine that defines the Ferrando “oeuvre” it is this one: the white label Carema. No single wine in our portfolio is more illustrative of our work than this brilliant rendition of Nebbiolo. Produced exclusively from the Nebbiolo grape planted in a series of vineyards that sit beneath Mont Blanc (Monte Bianco) in a broad amphitheatre with full southern exposure overlooking the river, Dora Baltea, that runs from the snow-capped mountains south through the Valle d’Aosta into the northwestern range of Piedmont slicing the city of Ivrea in half. The vines are trained in a special way on pergola (known as “tupin” in local dialect) to obtain maximum exposure to the sun in this high altitude district and are planted to soils that are dominated by slate. The appellation of Carema is extremely small: only 16 hectares (approximately 40 acres) are planted to the vine..." Rosenthal Wine Merchant

Guido Porro Barolo Vigna S. Caterina 2018, 0.75L

"The Guido Porro 2018 Barolo V. S. Caterina shows tannins that are soft and fine, giving this wine an accessible approach. The wine's complexity creeps up on you with dried fruit, wild cherry, earth and grilled herb delivered over a lean-bodied style. Those tannins give the wine a little more bite and grip." 92 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Fattoria di Bacchereto Carmignano Terre a Mano 2018, 0.75L

“Fattoria Di Bacchereto produces 20000 bottles annually. The wines are lightly macerated at controlled temperatures and they are fermented in concrete vats and malolactic. Ageing is dones for at least 12 to 19 months in the oak barrels and then 6 months in the bottle. One can only imagine how good their organic wines made in such a way must taste.” Importer Notes

Abadia Retuerta Seleccion Especial 2018, 0.75L
Tempranillo / Cabernet Sauvignon from Sardón de Duero, Castilla y León

"2018 was a cooler year with more rain and higher yields, and the 2018 Selección Especial—77% Tempranillo, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Syrah, 1% Merlot, 0.8% Petit Verdot and 0.3% Garnacha—shows very harmonious and better integrated oak than the 2017. Despite having similar analytical data, the wine comes through as fresher, more balanced, more fluid and with a finer texture given the quality of the tannins. 532,607 bottles produced. It was bottled in May and June 2020." 93, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jun 2021

CVNE Cune Rioja Reserva Imperial 2018, 0.75L
Tempranillo / Graciano / Mazuelo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"The red 2018 Imperial Reserva keeps the brand profile of finesse, precision and power, produced with grapes that were picked between October 8th and 26th in a year like in the past—cold, rain and snow followed by a warm summer. It's a blend of Tempranillo and 15% Graciano, Mazuelo and Garnacha that were put through optical sorting and fermented in oak vats with a 20-day maceration. It matured in barrel for 24 months. It's 14% alcohol and has a pH of 3.57. It's a textbook Reserva from Haro, fine-tuning the grapes they use here trying to control the power of this cuvée, which has to be powerful but keeping the freshness. This is quite young and lively, quite impressive, really very good, getting close to the complexity of a Gran Reserva but with the extra oomph of its youth. 150,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2021." 94, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jul 2022

32 Winds Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California

"Moving to the Pinot Noirs, the base appellation 2018 Pinot Noir Sonoma Coast was 60% destemmed and spent 11 months in 20% new French oak. This gorgeous Pinot Noir displays lots of red and black raspberry fruits, notes of forest floor, smoked earth, and a touch of graphite. With medium-bodied richness, a solid spine of acidity, building tannins, and straight-up beautiful balance, it's going to benefit from another year or two of bottle age and keep for a decade. It's beautifully done." 94 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2020

32 Winds Platt Vineyard Pinot Noir 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California

"Slightly more expensive, the single vineyard 2018 Pinot Noir Platt Vineyard spent 17 months in 20% new barrels. It's a bigger wine, with a touch more mid-palate density and depth, yet it still has plenty of underlying structure and tannic grip, offering up lots of redcurrant and darker cherry fruit as well as curing spices, smoke, and foresty, earthy notes. Give this rocking effort 2-4 years of bottle age and enjoy over the following decade or more. This beauty strikes a good balance between Old World and New World." 95 Points, Jeb Dunnuck, Jul 2020

Beringer Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Wild blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate, tobacco and dark spice on the nose. Dried violets, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, powdery tannins and a creamy texture. Intense, yet restrained and refined, with a solid core of dark berries and bitter chocolate. Really focused and crafted with exemplary Napa cabernet character." 98, James Suckling, Jan 2021

“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is every bit as impressive today as it was last year. It might very well be the finest Private Reserve I have ever tasted. More than anything else, the 2018 impresses with its energy and total sense of finesse. It's a wine that marries power with vibrancy in grand style. As always, most of the fruit is sourced from Beringer's ranches on Howell Mountain.” 97, Antonio Galloni, Jan 2022

“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is based on 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% each of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, brought up in 90% new French oak. It’s a beautiful wine that shows the vintage’s pure, elegant, yet concentrated style perfectly. Gorgeous crème de cassis, violets, blueberries, and cedar pencil notes emerge from the glass, and this beauty builds incrementally on the palate, with full-bodied richness, a lively, pure, layered texture, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It can be enjoyed any time over the coming 20-25 years.” 97, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2021

Chanin Syrah Schock Family Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from Santa Barbara County, California

"This is a cooler-climate Syrah done with the light touch of a Pinot Noir master. The nose is extremely peppery, reminiscent of a tour through a Tellicherry peppercorn factory, yet with tart cranberry, rust and soil elements as well. The palate is immensely grippy with more white pepper as well as charcoal and brisk red-fruit flavors. It will also cellar very well." 95 Points Matt Kettmann, Wine Enthusiast

"The 2018 Syrah Schock Family Vineyard is Gavin Chanin's first Syrah, and it is fabulous. Deep and rich, but not at all heavy, the 2018 has so much to offer. Readers will have to be patient, as the 2018 is an embryonic wine at this stage. What comes across is the wine's exceptional balance and harmony. Time will be needed for Syrah aromatics to emerge." 94 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Epoch Estate Syrah Block B Paderewski Vineyard 2018, 0.75L
Syrah from Willow Creek District, California

"The 2018 Block B Syrah was aged for 19 months in 82% new French oak puncheons and barrels. Deep ruby-purple, it's classy and defined, with aromas of black and blueberry jam, violet, milk chocolate, fried herbs and coffee beans. The full-bodied palate's youthfully concentrated fruits are supported by an abundance of silky tannins and offers notable freshness that lifts the finish. Beautiful now, it will benefit from another 3-5 years in bottle. 636 cases were made." 96 Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate, Nov 2021

"More iron, ground pepper, charred meats, and tapenade notes emerge from the 2018 Syrah Block B, a rich, powerful, yet focused and elegant Syrah that does everything right. Offering plenty of chalky minerality, ripe, building tannins, and a great finish, this brilliant Syrah will keep for at least a decade. The wine is 100% Syrah that was mostly destemmed (28% whole clusters) and spent 19 months in 82% new French oak."96 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com, Sept 2021

Inglenook Rubicon 2018, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from Rutherford, California

"A lovely enticing nose filled with rich plum, fig and blackcurrant fruits - heady and opulent. The palate is precise with a distinct texture, certainly dense and ripe but the flavours just settle on the tongue giving spiced touches of liquorice but allowing the freshness and acidity to underpin the overall taste. It feels very carefully constructed with everything in place allowing power and generality but neatly packaged and not overdone. A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Wines are aged for 18 months in 100% French oak, 76% new." 97, Georgie Hindle, Decanter, Jul 2021

“Subtle and complex red with blackberry, black truffle, sweet tobacco and mahogany. Highlights of lavender and violets. Full-bodied and very tight with finesse and tension. Very polished, fine tannins. Long finish. Delicious already, but best after 2022.” 97, James Suckling, Dec 2020

“The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon is based on a blend of 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, and the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. It’s a more backward, closed wine, offering classy notes of crème de cassis, lead pencil shavings, freshly crushed stone, and cedar. More medium to full-bodied and elegant, I’d like to see a touch more density and richness on the mid-palate, but it's beautifully balanced, has gorgeous tannins, integrated acidity, and outstanding length on the finish. Give this classic, impressive, old school beauty 4-5 years in the cellar and enjoy over the following 15-20.” 95, Jeb Dunnuck, Jan 2021

Realm Cellars Proprietary Red Beckstoffer Dr. Crane 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Helena, California

"Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Dr Crane Vineyard displays an opaque purple-black color. It saunters confidently out of the glass with compelling notes of warm black plums, blackcurrant cordial, Morello cherries and black raspberries followed by an opulent perfume of exotic spices, dusty soil, rose oil and crushed rocks with a waft of sandalwood. Full-bodied, rich, seductive and so, so spicy, the palate possesses a multitude of savory, earth and preserved fruit layers, framed by an achingly beautiful velvety texture and seamless freshness, finishing long, long, long—truly showing off its latent power. Like a gorgeous intellectual, this is a wine that will absolutely turn heads and create a stir. The team at Realm seemed to have played it ultra-cautious in 2017. In spite of all the challenges caused by the Labor Day heat wave followed by the October fires that year, they have produced a strong lineup of very impressive wines. Fans should note that no Falstaff, Farella Vineyard or Beckstoffer To Kalon Cabernet Franc labels were produced in 2017, due to the situation that fruit was still hanging in these key vineyards during the fires. "In 2018, we had a lot of time to pick. We had a lot of time to make the wines," winemaker Benoit Touquette informed me. "Not to get greedy with Mother Nature was the challenge. We didn’t have the huge crops that some people had. We could pick at our leisure. If you did the right viticulture, it was an easy vintage." Indeed, the Realm 2018s have an effortless, carefree purity about them, with all the bright, energetic, crunchy fruit that is a characteristic of this cooler vintage. This is not to say that that these wines do not possess that decadent personality fans have come to love. On the contrary, there is a lot of impactful intensity with these 2018s. Yet they seem to bear a cheery skip in their step, which is going to make you fall in love with this winery all over again." 100, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate Interim, Oct 2020
