Lassegue 2013, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

“It is in the most difficult vintages that you see the winemaker's hand; the length on this wine comes not from the depth of the fruit but from the gentle spicy notes of nutmeg and white pepper. Raspberry leaf and smoked earth comes through as things open. Helped in this vintage by the fact that the Seillans live on site at Serilhan, making it easier to treat at weekends, and this was a vintage when you certainly needed to do that” 90, Jane Anson, Decanter, May 2021

Lassegue 2020, 0.75L
Bordeaux Blend from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

“Wide, powdery, fine but firm tannins; a lovely density to this. Concentrated and intense, very straight and streamlined. Finessed and focused. Clearly powerful, the energy is apparent, but all the elements are kept quite tight and controlled, so you're not getting so much expansion or nuance necessarily. Still, well worked with clarity to the fruit and tannins. Wet stone, liquorice, toasted caramel all giving elements of wood but integrated and supportive. Feels like a sleeping giant, will be good in time, sleek and stylish.” 95, Georgina Hindle, Decanter, Feb 2023

Bouchard Bonnes-Mares 2009, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Bonnes-Mares, Burgundy

“(I tasted a blend of Bouchard's three barrels) Good deep red. Wild, soil-driven aromas of brown spices, licorice, pepper, wild herbs, celery seed and toasted bread, plus a light yeasty quality. Big, silky and rich, with a flavor of clafoutis Unusually round and generous for young Bonnes-Mares. Quite horizontal on the back end, finishing with extremely sweet, fine-grained tannins for Bonnes-Mares and superb persistence. I would not be surprised to see this rate a score at the high end of my projected range.” 93+, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2011

Bouchard Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 2009, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy

"(like the Chapelle, this is also made from fruit purchased from Damoy) Bright dark red with ruby tones. Sexy aromas of black fruits, spices, dried flowers, licorice, espresso and chocolate. Juicy, penetrating and high-pitched in the mouth, with lovely floral and mineral lift to the complex flavors of red and darker fruits, leather and pepper. In a very upright, firmly structured style, and not at all exotic. Prost uses more tight-grained Vosges oak for this cuvee, which makes for a longer, slower oxygenation during elevage." 92-95, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Jan 2011

Bouchard Chambertin-Clos de Bèze 2012, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Gevrey-Chambertin, Burgundy

"Deep, bright red. Knockout vibrant nose combines purple and red berries, crushed stone, violet and animal fur. Lush, thick and deep but with terrific chalky energy animating the middle palate. Conveys striking depth to its red fruit and floral flavors, with the 45% new oak practically invisible today. Finishes with huge but round, noble tannins and outstanding lingering sweetness. In a more opulent style than the potentially great 2013, and probably for drinking before that wine." 95, Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, Nov 2014

Bouchard Pere & Fils Beaune Clos de la Mousse 1er Cru 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Beaune, Burgundy

"Pretty and cool yet definitely ripe aromas reveal notes of various dark berries, violet and rose petal. The suave and seductively textured medium weight flavors possess very fine density while the youthfully austere and moderately firm finish makes clear that this will need at least a few years of bottle aging first." 90-92, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Apr 2022

Bouchard Volnay Les Caillerets Ancienne Cuvee Carnot 1er Cru 1995, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

"The 1995 Cuvée Carnot from Maison Bouchard Père et Fils is one of those 1995s that shows a touch of “rusty pipe” on the nose at age twenty-one, but also good depth of fruit and blossoming aromatic complexity. The bouquet is a blend of red currants, fruitcake, lovely spice tones, forest floor, a touch of venison and cedary new wood. On the palate the wine is medium- bodied, chewy and tangy, with good, but not great depth at the core, quite an autumnal flavor palette, just a bit of dry-edged tannins and good length and grip on the complex and mature finish. The fruit here seems to be fading already and this is probably best drunk up over the next decade or so. It is a good, solid wine that works well with heartier dishes, but it is not in the same league as the more recent vintages of red wines from Bouchard Père et Fils."  John Gilman, View From The Cellar, Jan 2016

Henri Gouges Nuits St. Georges 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

“The ‘classique’ village-level wine from Gouges has a lovely ripe cherry fruit, pleasant floral notes on the nose, balanced acidity, and an elegant, silky feel on the palate. The wine is made from nine parcels between the center of the village and the border with Premeaux, including Belle Croix, Les Fleurières, Les Brûlées, Les Chaliots, and others, all located down-slope from the premier cru band. They are made in a consciously accessible style.” 92, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, Nov 2022

Matrot Volnay-Santenots 1er Cru 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy

“A rich bouquet of cherries, cassis and wild berries mingled with baking chocolate and toasty new oak introduces Matrot's 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Les Santenots, a medium to full-bodied, velvety wine that displays fine depth and concentration, concluding with a long and sapid finish.” 92, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020

Mongeard-Mugneret Fixin Vielle Vigne 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Fixin, Burgundy

.“Although full and generous at the same time, our Fixin "Fondemens" will surprise by its crimson and steady color. Its fruity nose reminds a red fruit coulis, and in mouth it will amaze by its greediness and its frankness characteristic of Pinot Noir. They have a good acid content and are endowed with a solidity and substance which places them among wines that are best laid down for a certain time. When young they possess animal aromas suggestive of pelts and musk. These are ample wines which develop their bouquet over time as they mature.” Producer notes

Amirault 'Le Clos des Quarterons' Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Franc from Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil , Loire

“The 2019 Vieilles Vignes is not a single site wine but a blend of different old vines across the different parcels from 40-95 years old vines. It marks a step up in the range. It's a supple and well concentrated style with fine purity of fruit while the tannins are fine and chalky. It's a focused style with spice, delicate smoky notes and dark raspberry fruit. Delightfully handled tannins that coat the palate and make this one to drink over the medium term.” 92, Rebecca Gibb MW, Vinous, Aug 2022

Château de Beaucastel Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2021, 0.75L
Rhône Blend from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Rhône

“A deep, quite herbal expression, with liquorice and crushed blueberries to the cassis fruit. Full-bodied, powerfully fruited, dense and deep. Really mouthcoating, intense fruit. The tannins are ripe, fine and plentiful, all saturated in blackberry juice on a long finish. Certainly one of the more successful Châteauneufs this year. Will age well. A Mourvèdre-led expression of Beaucastel - it contains more than usual, at least 35% and probably more. Grenache and Cinsault fermented in cement, Syrah and Mourvèdre fermented in foudre.” 96, Matt Walls, Decanter, Oct 2022

Coudoulet de Beaucastel Côtes du Rhône 2022, 0.75L
Rhône Blend from Côtes du Rhône, Rhône

“Bottled at the beginning of July, the 2021 Côtes Du Rhône Coudoulet De Beaucastel shows the fresher, focused style of the vintage yet brings beautiful fruit. Red, blue, and black fruits, peppery herbs, and underbrush notes define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, with ripe, polished tannins and a great finish. One of the stalwarts of the appellation, Château de Beaucastel continues to produce an incredible array of wines from their estate in the northwestern edge of the appellation. Looking at the vintages reviewed here, the 2022s are ripe, sexy wines that bring to mind 2019 or even 2009. The whites are absolutely brilliant, and while only tasted from barrel, the 2022s will certainly be incredible wines. The 2021s also showed well and possess more depth and density than most in the vintage. In general, Mourvèdre seemed more challenging in 2021, but you certainly wouldn’t have that impression after tasting at Beaucastel. The closest comparison here for the 2021s would be the 2008s, which are balanced, elegant wines that are still drinking beautifully today. The 2021s should be a step up in quality, although I suspect they will evolve along a similar trajectory. Lastly, the estate is wrapping up a massive renovation of the cellar that was built with sustainability front and center and will be using an evaporative cooling mechanism with stored rainwater.” 90, Jeb Dunnuck, Oct, 2023

Bodegas Atalaya Laya 2021, 0.75L
Red Blend from Almansa, Castilla La Mancha

“The 2021 Laya was produced with 70% Garnacha Tintorera and 30% Monastrell, looking for a fruit-driven and easy to drink red with 14.5% alcohol, ripe fruit and a soft texture. 2021 was warmer than the average but with some cold spells, especially the one in January called Filomena that brought lots of snow, despite which, it was also a dry year and they got up to 40% less grapes. This fermented in stainless steel vats with neutral yeasts, with malolactic in barrel, where the wine matured for four months. This shows some toasty oak, but it might be because it's too young and very recently bottled. But vintages seem to take oak differently; they believe this will show as integrated as the 2020. Time will tell. In any case, it's a wine for the short term, and it's very good for what it is. 360,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in March 2022.” 90, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Apr 2022

Bodegas Atalaya Laya 2023, 0.75L
Garnacha Tintorera / Monastrell from Almansa, Castilla La Mancha

“The entry-level 2023 Laya, produced with 70% Garnacha Tintorera and 30% Monastrell from dry-farmed 30-year-old vines on limestone and stony soils fermented in open-top stainless steel vats. It fermented with neutral yeasts and matured for four months in used French oak barrels, where it also underwent malolactic fermentation. It is fruit-driven and easy to drink, juicy, with 14% alcohol, a pH of 3.79 and 5.6 grams of acidity. It has a very dark color and an expressive nose redolent of black olives and tomato vine, notes descriptive of the variety, with a Northern Rhône whiff. It's juicy and round on the palate, with polished tannins. It delivers way above its price point. 160,000 bottles produced, whereas they usually make over 250,000. It was bottled in May 2024.” 90, Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, Jan 2025

Hartford Court Pinot Noir Land`s Edge Vineyard 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sonoma Coast, California

"A rich ruby/purple, the 2021 Pinot Noir Land's Edge Vineyards is ripe and rounded with a perfume of blackberry preserve, damp forest floor, and toasted baking spice. Full-bodied, but with clean lift and without weight, it has dark berries, candied flowers, sweet, ripe tannins, and a soft texture. This is an immediate wine, but it has good freshness and the structure to drink over the next 4-5 years." 93, Audrey Frick, Jeb Dunnuck, 07/2023

Hartford Court Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Russian River Valley, California

“These Laguna Ridge soils have higher iron content, producing wines of great minerality. This Pinot flashes beautiful blue fruit aromatics with hints of cola and crushed slate. The palate is showy, with turned earth-based umami, fresh red berries and a spiced cassia bark undertone. Fresh, bright mint carries a finish of true elegance.” 93, Clive Pursehouse, Decanter Magazine.
