"A pleasant, albeit faint, fragrance of yellow fruit opens sensory proceedings. On the palate the Felseneck reflects the generosity of the vintage with quite a buttery expression and full body. “From 27-year-old vines on rare loamy green slate soils, the 2015 Wallhäuser Felseneck Riesling GG fermented and aged in stainless steel. It displays a very coolish and greenish rather than generously ripe fruit aroma on the nose, which is intermixed with flinty, crystalline aromas of milled rocks and indicates good concentration. On the palate, the wine is creamy textured and round, but bitter in the finish, a phenomena that I have also noticed at Gut Hermannsberg and sometimes in the Wonnegau. If this is due to a certain degree of stress and unripe phenolics, or if there are other reasons, I cannot say.
