Haut-Bailly 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Cabernet Franc / Merlot / Petit Verdot from Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux
"The 2017 Haut-Bailly is racy and polished to the core, with no hard edges and just exceptional beauty. Dark cherry, plum, chocolate, spice, new leather, incense, and grilled herb overtones infuse the 2017 with striking layers of nuance, but it is the wine's feel that really elevates it into the realm of Pessac-Léognan's best. The 2017 is an elegant and exceptionally understated Haut-Bailly." Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com, Mar 2020

Le Carillon de l`Angelus 2018, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux
"Wild-strawberry, blackberry and blueberry aromas with some spices and herbs. It’s full-bodied with a balance of firm yet elegant tannins. The savory mid-palate leads to a clean finale with serious length. Hard not to drink this now, but it needs four or five years to show its true excellence. Second wine of Angelus. Try after 2025." 95 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, Apr 2019

Les Forts de Latour 2017, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from Pauillac, Bordeaux
"The 2017 Les Forts de Latour is composed of 65.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 1% Petit Verdot, and 0.8% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet in color, it comes galloping out with bold notions of warm cassis, blackberry pie, and dried roses, plus suggestions of crushed rocks, wild sage, and underbrush. The medium-bodied palate is completely filled with delicate waves of bright, refreshing black and red berry layers, supported by super-ripe, super-fine tannins, finishing long and perfumed. This is stunning." 95 Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, TheWineIndependent.com
"This is really minerally with crushed stones and dark berries. Some licorice. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a beautiful, tight and focused finish. Such energy, delivered down a straight line." 94-95 James Suckling
"The 2017 Les Forts de Latour has a stupendous bouquet with blackberry, bilberry and oyster shell aromas, very well defined and focused and to be honest, much more intense than I was expecting. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, so elegant and poised with delicate touches of graphite and cracked black pepper towards the pixelated finish. What an outstanding, over-performing Les Forts de Latour." 94 Neal Martin, Vinous

d'Yquem 2016, 0.375L
Sémillon / Sauvignon Blanc from Sauternes, Bordeaux
"A very classic Yquem. Breathtakingly wide spectrum of floral honey, exotic fruit (passion fruit, mango and pineapple), caramel and marzipan aromas. But none of this is a jot too much. In fact, the wine is extremely precise and finely nuanced. Wonderful freshness and textural complexity, in spite of the considerable concentration and extravagance. Very suave and sensual finish that goes on and on. Drink or hold." 99 James Suckling
"The 2016 Chateau D’Yquem is pure magic and dessert wines don’t get much better. Offering a pale gold color as well as a blockbuster bouquet of honeyed tangerines, tart apricots, liquid rocks, white flowers, and honeysuckle, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, an opulent texture, vibrant acidity, and again, an incredible sense of minerality, despite having no shortage of sweetness or richness. The 2016 is a classic blend of 75% Sémillon and 25% Sauvignon that hit 14.2% alcohol with 135 grams of residual sugar. It’s already complex and approachable yet will keep for 3-4 decades." 99 Jeb Dunnuck
"Containing 135 grams per liter of residual sugar, the pale lemon-gold colored 2016 d'Yquem leaps from the glass with honeyed apricots, pineapple, green mango, crushed rocks, candied ginger, coriander seed and citrus peel with hints of orange blossom. The palate is very tightly wound, vibrant and refreshing with layer upon layer of minerals and spices, finishing with epic poise and persistence." 98+ Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW, Wine Advocate

Armand Heitz Meursault Les Perrieres 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy
"A touch of matchstick character is present on the aromas of mineral reduction, apple, citrus and a panoply of floral elements that include carnation and acacia. The super-sleek, intense and delicious middle weight flavors also possess a beguiling mid-palate texture while delivering excellent length on the relatively powerful, youthfully austere and impressively long finale. As lovely as this is, it's going to need to develop better depth over time." 92 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Benjamin Leroux Nuits-Saint-Georges Aux Boudots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy
"Very typical of Nuits-St-Georges, with a dark plummy fruit, notes of earth and mineral, and an almost savoury edge to it - slightly rustic, yet still very refined. The grapes from this 0.4ha parcel were fermented as 60% whole-cluster, which imparts a slight edge of herbs or menthol to the wine, but this amplifies in a good way the slightly sauvage character. Delicious." 94 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter Magazine
"Background hints of wood and menthol are present on the super-spicy aromas of black cherry, raspberry and a plenitude of floral wisps. The sleek, intense and very rich medium weight plus flavors possess a caressing mouthfeel that possess notably better punch on the youthfully austere, balanced and impressively persistent finale. This is sufficiently compact that it's going to need at least a few years of keeping first." 92-94 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Bouchard Pere & Fils Le Corton 2016, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Corton, Burgundy
"Very, very generous wood treatment is sufficiently toasty to presently dominate the otherwise layered nose of dark cherry, raspberry, earth and sauvage-inflected aromas. There is superb concentration, power and richness to the big-bodied flavors that possess excellent reserves of dry extract that helps to buffer the exceptionally firm tannic spine shaping the superbly long mineral-driven finish. This is at once impressive as hell but it's also very woody and while the underlying material appears to be more than sufficient to eventually integrate the oak, it will require time for this to happen." 93-95 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Caroline Morey Chassagne Montrachet Les Chambrees 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chassagne Montrachet, Burgundy
"From three lieux-dits, the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Chambrées has a tightly-wound bouquet with red apple, lime and crushed stone. The palate is quite intense and weighty in the mouth, rounded like a Meursault yet counterbalanced by a keen line of acidity that maintains focus on the finish." This is my inaugural exploration of the wines of Caroline Morey, aka Pierre-Yves Colin’s ‘better half.’ The wines were inherited from her family and hewn from a different cloth, even though they have been made in the same winery in Chassagne since 2017. The one major difference compared to PYCM is that she uses slightly less new oak, around 20-25% instead of 30-35% - not to mention half-a-dozen reds. Readers should note that the 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Village includes fruit from declassified Premier Crus from Les Caillerets and Chaumées. Pierre-Yves explains the approach to the reds: ‘The reds undergo little extraction, and Caroline did not pursue more colour or tannins; all the cuvées include 30% to 50% whole bunches with a maximum two-week cuvaison during which there are only two or three pigeage and a little remontage. There is also a shorter barrel maturation; they’re racked in October, blended in tank and bottled in January.’" 89-91 Neal Martin, Vinous

Caroline Morey Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chassagne Montrachet, Burgundy
"The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru is almost entirely from Champs Gain and Vergers. It has a clean and precise bouquet, quite focused, not powerful but nicely delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins that frame orchard fruit, bitter lemon and orange rind notes. Good weight and concentration here with quite a persistent and convincing finish. Good potential. "A blend of Champgains and Vergers with a bare smidgin of Caillerets and Chaumées. The first two managed a good half crop after successful protection. Clear pale colour, the nose suggests fair weight without giving detail. Really very pretty on the nose, crisp limestone style, slightly saline, fresh and persistent." 91-93 Jasper Morris MW, Inside Burgundy

Chavy-Chouet Meursault les Charmes 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy
"The 2020 Meursault Les Charmes 1er Cru perhaps does not deliver quite the same mineralité or energy as the Les Genevrieres on the nose, maybe a little timid at the moment. The palate is well balanced with a sapid entry, quite saline with hints of oyster shells and fruits de mer towards its composed and persistent finish. Very fine. (Drink between 2024-2040)"93 Points, Neal Martin, Vinous
"Moderately generous wood stops just short of fighting with the ripe aromas of pear and apple compote, citrus confit and white peach. The rich and relatively full-bodied flavors possess an abundance of dry extract that buffers the firm, palate coating and powerful finish. Some patience would be beneficial here as well as this is presently quite compact though not especially austere." 92 Points, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Comte Armand Pommard Clos des Epeneaux 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Pommard, Burgundy
"One of the best Côte de Beaune reds of the vintage. The four blocks that make up the blend of this justly celebrated Pommard Premier Cru red amount to 5.23ha and range in age between 36 and 100 years' old. Aged in one third new wood, it has spice and tobacco pouch top notes, layers of red berry fruit, fresh acidity and firm, yet granular tannins.(Drink between 2024-2035)" 96 Tim Atkin MW, Decanter
"As usual, I sampled the various constituents of the cuvée before tasting a representative blend of the 2018 Pommard 1er Cru Clos des Epeneaux, and as ever, the whole is superior to the sum of the parts. Wafting from the glass with a deep bouquet of raspberries, cherries, peonies, spices, orange rind, cassis, woodsmoke and espresso roast, the wine is medium to full-bodied, deep and multidimensional, its lively and concentrated core of fruit framed by rich structuring tannins, concluding with a long and sapid finish. This promises to number among the Côte de Beaune's wines of the vintage, and it will be well worth seeking out." 93-95 William Kelley, Wine Advocate

Hubert Lignier Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Chambolle Musigny, Burgundy
“The holding is in the angle at the northern end of the vineyard, where Laurent has had a nice little wall in dry stone built. Dark black colour with light purple rim. As ever, this is much more Morey than Chambolle. Rich deep dark fruit with its typical savoury edge, dark raspberry notes, a little plum, flavours which reach far to the back of the palate. Succulent and savoury together and very persistent. 13.25%.” 92-95 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy
“The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes opens in the glass with aromas of cherries and red berries mingled with sweet spices, loamy soil and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with fine concentration and a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, it's a fine success that's a worthy follow-up to the 2019 rendition. Laurent Lignier began his harvest on August 27, reporting below-average yields and finished alcohols between 13% and 14%. Once again, the result is a fine vintage for both his domaine holdings and négociant sources—the latter, amounting to some 3.5 hectares of vines, now clearly distinguished in our reviews. As readers will know, winemaking is pretty classical at this address, with a short cold maceration, two to three weeks' maceration with one pigéage and one rémontage per day and maturation in barrels, some one-third of which are new—if possible, without racking—for fully 22 months in the domaine's cold cellars. The 2020s are more primary and tightly wound than Lignier's 2019s, but they're similar in terms of ultimate quality and are well worth seeking out.” 92-94 Williamm Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022
"This too is aromatically restrained but more perfumed on the notes of dark cherry, cassis and violet. The caressing, plump and rounded flavors possess fine mid-palate density before culminating in a dusty, austere and mouth coating finale. This is potentially excellent and a wine that should age gracefully for at least a decade." 91-93 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com
"The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru, which snuggles up just below Bonnes-Mares, has a well-defined bouquet, very floral with peony and incense infusing the dark cherry and boysenberry fruit. The palate is very concentrated with supple tannins, quite expansive in style with touches of liquorice surfacing towards the graphite-tinged finish. Very fine, but it will need time. Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier Chambolle-Musigny 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Chambolle Musisgny, Burgundy
“Bright, forward plummy fruit with accents of spice and leather dominate the aromas of this youthful, energetic wine. The texture is lively and fresh, and the accent is firmly on perfume rather than muscle. The light body and crisp acidity belie the subtle persistence on the palate. The wine is a blend of half declassified premier cru grapes from Les Plantes and half from the village-level portion of the Combe d'Orveau that were both picked on 21 September. The fruit is vinified with a very gentle hand, and fans of traditional Chambolle-Musigny should love this bottling. (Drink between 2025-2045).” 92, Charles Curtis MW, Decanter, Jun 2022

Joseph Roty Charmes-Chambertin Cuvée de Très Vieilles Vignes 2017, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy
"The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru Très Vieilles Vignes has turned out even better than I anticipated, unfurling in the glass with a magical bouquet of cassis, plums and blackberries mingled with dark chocolate, spices, sweet soil tones, licorice and black truffle. Full-bodied, layered and multidimensional, it's extraordinarily sumptuous and concentrated, framed by velvety tannins that caress the palate, and underpinned by lively acids, concluding with a long and expansive finish. Pierre-Jean Roty compares it to the 2012 and 2009 renditions, which readers who follow this domaine will know is high praise indeed." 96 William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Feb 2020
"The 2017 Charmes-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru has a backward, primal bouquet of dense red berry fruit, scents of briar and wild hedgerow and wilted rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine bead of acidity. Fresh and focused. showing a touch of blood orange and quince toward the detailed yet surprisingly muscular finish. This has a long future ahead. Excellent." 95 Neal Martin, Vinous, Vinous.com, Jan 2020
"A cool, elegant and restrained nose flashes an array of various red fruit scents that include cherry, raspberry and a hint of pomegranate, along with soft earth, spice and discreet wood nuances. There is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the delicious, intense and well-detailed medium weight flavors that deliver fine depth and persistence on the well-balanced and firmer finish. Unusually for this wine, it's not as dense as the Griotte though it's perhaps a bit more refined than usual." 94 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com, Jan 2020

Laurent Ponsot Charmes-Chambertin Cuvee du Cypres 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy
"From a parcel located in Charmes, down-slope from Chambertin, this is slightly backwards at present, with a bit of reduction, but behind these aromas there is plenty of sumptuous, bright red berry fruit. The texture is firm and fresh, with the grip and intensity to age well. Although it does not have the intensity or persistence of the Chambertin, it resembles it in its vibrant elegance and balance." 94 points, Decanter Magazine, Oct 2020
"Here the ripe and fresh nose derives more from the red side of the fruit spectrum while adding nuances of cherry liqueur, warm earth and underbrush. There is very good detail and subtle minerality to the dense and relatively muscular big-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced finale. This very firm effort will need to add depth over time to achieve the upper end of my projected range." 91-93 points, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2021

Laurent Ponsot Clos de Vougeot Cuvée du Cèdre 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Vougeot, Burgundy
"Six suppliers. Powerful mid purple colour. The bouquet is reserved, however. There is a fine wealth of fruit though on the palate, with some mineral tension to finish, very youthful. A medium bodied but very promising Clos Vougeot." 93-96 points, Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy, Oct 2020
"A very ripe yet still agreeably fresh nose combines notes of black cherry, cassis and plum liqueur with those of warm earth and discreet anise nuances. The delicious and relatively refined larger-scaled flavors possess a caressing mid-palate texture that contrasts somewhat with the muscular, youthfully austere and sneaky long finale. This is quite firm and is going to required extended patience. 94 points, Allan Meadows, Burghound, Jan 2021.

"The 2021 Pommard Les Fremiers from Domaine Louis Boillot is another very elegant young wine, with loads of pure red fruit and excellent fidelity to its underlying soil. The nose wafts from the glass in a mix of cherries, pomegranate, quince, peonies, woodsmoke, dark soil tones, pigeon, just a hint of fresh herb tones and a gentle framing of cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and soil-driven, with a fine core of red fruit, chewy, well-integrated tannins, tangy acids and a long, focused and beautifully balanced finish." 93 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Louis Boillot Volnay Les Angles 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Volnay, Burgundy
"The 2021 Volnay Les Angles from Domaine Louis Boillot is an excellent young wine and also nicely black fruity this year. The nose wafts from the glass in a pure blend of dark berries, cassis, raw cocoa, pigeon, bonfire, a fine base of dark soil and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with lovely soil signature, a superb core of fruit, fine-grained tannins, lovely balance and a long, focused and very precise finish. When this is ready to drink, it will be the epitome of Volnay elegance." 93 John Gilman, View From The Cellar

Michel Lafarge Clos des Aigrots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Côte de Beaune, Burgundy
"The 2020 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru has an airy bouquet, very transparent with redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, the 15% new oak nearly integrated. Very minerally. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. This is a strict and mineral driven Beaune, very tensile but with ample weight and concentration on the finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2025-2045)" 92-94, Neal Martin, Vinous.com
"A notably more floral-suffused nose is attractively high-toned with its fresh aromas of essence of red currant and cherry. The super-sleek, intense and mineral-driven middle weight flavors that are finer but not denser on the tension-filled and wonderfully refreshing finale. This will need to add depth and is a wine that could be approached young if desired." 90-92, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Pierre Girardin Meursault Les Narvaux 2022, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy
“A slightly broader ranging nose reflects notes of pear, apple, carnation, mineral reduction and crushed anise. There is slightly better richness, density and volume to the enveloping and caressing yet quite punchy flavors that deliver fine length on the balanced and mildly austere finale that offers just a bit more depth.” 89-91, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jun 2024

Pierre Girardin Meursault Les Tillets 2022, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Meursault, Burgundy
“Ripe and fresh aromas include those of white and yellow peach, lemon confit and a whiff of acacia blossom. The racy and nicely stony middleweight flavors possess the innate finesse of a fine Tillets, all wrapped in a clean, lingering and dry finale. This could use better depth so a few years of keeping should be beneficial.” 88-91, Allen Meadows, Burghound, Jun 2024

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Chassagne Montrachet Vieilles Vignes 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chassagne Montrachet, Burgundy
"This is a collection of various lieux-dits on the Puligny side of the appellation that average about 50 years in age. The result is a flattering Chassagne whose vibrant minerality pairs up harmoniously with yellow cherries and baked apple. There is lovely sap and whisper of discreet oak." 94 Christy Canterbury MW, TimAtkin.com

Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Saint-Aubin 2021, 0.75L
Chardonnay from St. Aubin, Burgundy
"The village-level Saint-Aubin from Domaine Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey features green apple and grapefruit aromas with spice from the cask fermentation. The texture is silky and round, avoiding any tart or acerbic sensations and lingering on the palate. The grapes are a blend of three parcels from his fifty-year-old vines in the south-facing but high-altitude lieu-dit Le Blanc with a parcel in En Choilles. Colin presses the grapes very gently as whole clusters and racks to barrel without settling before fermenting in cask on native yeasts." 91 Charles Curtis MW, Decanter Magazine

Sylvain Cathiard Bourgogne Rouge Hautes Cotes de Nuits 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Bourgogne, Burgundy
"The maiden 2021 Bourgogne Rouge Hautes Cotes de Nuits rouge comes from three parcels totaling 2.5 hectares, 85% from lieu-dit of "Piece Dame Maire". It has a nicely controlled bouquet with brambly red fruit and dried rose petal. Perhaps it needs a little more intensity? The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, fresh and vibrant with a mineral-driven finish." Neal Martin, Vinous, Nov 2022

"The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Bel Air 1er Cru is overtly floral on the nose with raspberry, cranberry and light loamy aromas, more oyster shell scents emerging with time.
