Ridge Vineyards Proprietary Red Lytton Springs 2020, 0.75L
Zinfandel / Petite Sirah / Carignane / Mataro from Dry Creek Valley, California

"This has lots of horizontal tannins that provide fine muscle and form. It's medium- to full-bodied with freshness and brightness. Red berries, crushed cloves and other spices. Grapey, for a better word. Sophisticated. Chewy, Needs time to soften. Zinfandel with petite sirah and carignan. Drinkable now, but better with two or three years of bottle age." 95 James Suckling, JameSuckling.com

Hubert Lignier Chambolle-Musigny Les Chabiots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Gevrey Chambertin, Burgundy

"Reserved aromas of various dark berries, spice and a plethora of floral elements can be found on the ripe but airy nose. The wonderfully refined medium-bodied flavors possess very good concentration as well as good length on the youthfully austere and slightly lean but not angular finish. My projected range offers the benefit of the doubt that this will flesh out with time in bottle." 89-92 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

Hubert Lignier Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Chambolle Musigny, Burgundy

“The holding is in the angle at the northern end of the vineyard, where Laurent has had a nice little wall in dry stone built. Dark black colour with light purple rim. As ever, this is much more Morey than Chambolle. Rich deep dark fruit with its typical savoury edge, dark raspberry notes, a little plum, flavours which reach far to the back of the palate. Succulent and savoury together and very persistent. 13.25%.” 92-95 Jasper Morris, Inside Burgundy

“The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes opens in the glass with aromas of cherries and red berries mingled with sweet spices, loamy soil and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with fine concentration and a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, it's a fine success that's a worthy follow-up to the 2019 rendition. Laurent Lignier began his harvest on August 27, reporting below-average yields and finished alcohols between 13% and 14%. Once again, the result is a fine vintage for both his domaine holdings and négociant sources—the latter, amounting to some 3.5 hectares of vines, now clearly distinguished in our reviews. As readers will know, winemaking is pretty classical at this address, with a short cold maceration, two to three weeks' maceration with one pigéage and one rémontage per day and maturation in barrels, some one-third of which are new—if possible, without racking—for fully 22 months in the domaine's cold cellars. The 2020s are more primary and tightly wound than Lignier's 2019s, but they're similar in terms of ultimate quality and are well worth seeking out.” 92-94 Williamm Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

"This too is aromatically restrained but more perfumed on the notes of dark cherry, cassis and violet. The caressing, plump and rounded flavors possess fine mid-palate density before culminating in a dusty, austere and mouth coating finale. This is potentially excellent and a wine that should age gracefully for at least a decade." 91-93 Allen Meadows, Burghound.com

"The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru, which snuggles up just below Bonnes-Mares, has a well-defined bouquet, very floral with peony and incense infusing the dark cherry and boysenberry fruit. The palate is very concentrated with supple tannins, quite expansive in style with touches of liquorice surfacing towards the graphite-tinged finish. Very fine, but it will need time. (Drink between 2026-2046)" 91-93 Neal Martin, Vinous.com

Domaine de Cambes 2020, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Bordeaux, Bordeaux

"The 2020 Domaine de Cambes is a gorgeous, luxuriously deep wine done in Francois Mitjavile's gently oxidative, concentrated style. Sumptuous black cherry, plum, chocolate, espresso and licorice all meld together. Pliant and supple, with generous fruit, Domaine de Cambes is so expressive today. Like many 2020s, it is a bit tight, but that should not be an issue in another few years' time. The purity of the flavors is compelling." 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous

"Coming from the Côtes-de-Bourg appellation on the Right Bank and an estate owned the Mitjavile family of Le Tertre-Rôteboeuf , the 2020 Domaine de Cambes is another beautiful wine from this team that has a singular style. Redcurrants, plums, mulled cherries, spicy oak, cigar, and chocolate notes define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, with supple, soft tannins and a great finish. It's a softer, more approachable wine compared to the more structured Roc de Cambes, although both are brilliant wines." 93 Jeb Dunnuck

Raen Pinot Noir Sea Field 2021, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Fort Ross-Seaview, California

"Extremely aromatic with plums, crushed strawberries, rose flower, powdery dirt, before turning to cherries. Hints of flower stems. Perfumed. Full-bodied and very, very firm. Rather steely. Tight at the end. It opens beautifully in an hour or so. Drink after 2025." 98 James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

"The 2021 Pinot Noir Sea Field is intensely floral and full of flavor, with cool-climate savoriness driving a core of bright, red-toned fruit. Deceptively medium in body, the 2021 has a ton of complexity waiting to emerge. Time in the glass brings out compelling inner perfume and quite a bit of nuance. But, it is tightly wound and quite reticent at this stage. (Drink between 2024-2033)" 95 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Mas Champart Saint-Chinian Rosé 2022, 0.75L
Mourvèdre / Cinsault from Saint Chinian, Languedoc Roussillon

"The harvest is manual and the grapes cooled before being pressed. Our Rosé comes from direct pressing. The grapes are picked less ripe than for the Reds in order to keep more aromatic freshness and to have lower alcohol content. The wine is aged on fine lees. The malolactic fermentation is done, the wine gains in finesse on the finish and the Mourvèdre brings power to give a real gastronomic Rosé. The vintage is ample, fruity and spicy with a tonic mineral finish. Very tasty as an aperitif, it goes very well with summer, Mediterranean or spicy cuisine: grilled vegetables, summer salads, terrines, fish soups, tapenade, eggplant caviar, grilled meats. Its low SO2 content accentuates its particularly digestible character." Producer Notes

Domaine du Bagnol Cassis Rosé 2022, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre / Cinsault from Cassis, Provence

“A mix of Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre, the 2022 Cassis Rosé reveals aromas of red berries, lemon, menthol, strawberry and peach. Medium-bodied, fresh and juicy, it’s long and penetrating with a mouthwatering finish.” Yohan Castaing, Wine Advocate, Jun 2023

"No estate expresses the salt-kissed limestone-driven terroir of the idyllic Provençal seaside village of Cassis like Domaine du Bagnol, and the current generation, Sébastien Genovesi, crafts a rosé of scintillating energy, chiseled calcareous musculature, and gleaming red fruits. Comprising 50% Grenache, 30% Cinsault, and 20% Mourvèdre, Bagnol’s Cassis Rosé is pressed directly and rapidly (in under two hours) to extract as little color as possible, and the bottled wine (certified organic) contains only 20 milligrams per liter of total sulfur—a factor which contributes to its gorgeous purity of texture and intense evocation of limestone soil." O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"The base 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley is terrific, and while I don’t know the price, I suspect it’s a great value. Deep purple-hued, with terrific mulled currant and blackberry fruits, it has lots of ripe herbal, chocolaty spice notes, full-bodied richness, sweet tannins, and a great finish. This is pure Napa Valley goodness to drink over the coming 10-15 years. (Drink between 2022-2037)" 94 Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

"Notes of black cherries and cassis combine with cedar and vanilla on the nose of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that's almost equal parts Howell Mountain, Mt. Veeder and Oakville. It's medium to full-bodied, reasonably concentrated and already accessible, with plush tannins and a lingering finish." 92 Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

O'Shaughnessy Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain, California

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain is an incredible wine, and it flirts with perfection. Full-bodied and concentrated, it has flawless balance and elegance as well as just textbook Howell Mountain notes of blue fruits, cassis, violets, graphite, and background oak. I love its tannins, it has remarkable purity of fruit, and a great, great finish. It has some appeal today yet deserves 4-5 years of bottle age and should have over two decades of longevity. (Drink between 2026-2042)" 98+ Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

"The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain offers lovely brightness and energy, all in a mid-weight style that is both appealing and surprisingly approachable for a young Howell Mountain wine. Sweet dark cherry, plum, mocha, spice, tobacco and lavender are all beautifully lifted in the glass. This is an especially gracious, polished Cabernet from Howell Mountain. The 2019 has so much to offer. Best of all, it should drink well with minimal cellaring. (Drink between 2026-2041)" 94 Antonio Galloni, Vinous.com

Château de Plaisance Anjou La Grande Piece 2021, 0.75L
Chenin Blanc from Anjou, Loire

“Vanessa Cherruau is a steward of one of the Loire’s great terroirs – Chaume. After finishing wine school in Angers, she worked throughout the wine industry for 12 years before befriending the Rochais family on the Chaume hill, who owned Château de Plaisance (more a farmhouse than Château) and its 25 hectares of vines growing on the schist bedrock of the appellation. With plans to sell the historic estate to the local cooperative, Vanessa convinced the family to sell to her instead, allowing her to continue the fine legacy they left, while forging a new path for Loire greatness. Luckily for Vanessa, she inherited some of the most well-cared for vines on the hill, as Plaisance has been certified organic since 1995 and certified biodynamic since 2008. She of course has continued the biodynamic viticulture started by her predecessors, knowing that taking care of the natural environment of the vines is of utmost importance. Since her first vintage in 2019, she has helped raise the image of dry Chenin made on the Chaume hill to where it is now one of the most intriguing Chenin terroirs in the Loire. Only 10km south of Savennières, Chaume is a sweet-wine-only appellation (Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru and Coteaux de Layon 1er Cru Chaume), and so Vanessa and the other producers of dry Chenin on the hill cannot legally use ‘Chaume’ on their labels. This hasn’t deterred Vanessa from continuing to make world-class dry wines, joining other growers on the hill to create their own name for dry Chenin made from vines on Chaume – Ronceray. This name has been adopted by growers to help promote the dry wines of Chaume, with its origin coming from the name of a 17th century monastery that made dry wines on the Chaume hill. Vanessa is unquestionably of the leaders of this qualitative surge in the area, with whites and reds of gorgeous purity and soaring minerality …. LA GRANDE PIÈCE: Certified Biodynamic; 100% Chenin Blanc; a single 0.8 ha site on the Chaume hill, facing south; 50+ year old vine; sandstone and puddingstone over schist bedrock; indigenous yeast, partial malolactic; fermented and aged in older barrel for 12 months; from Butte de Chaume, vinified in barrels for 12 months.” Skurnik

Clos Mogador 2020, 0.75L
Grenache / Carignan / Syrah / Cabernet Sauvignon from Priorat, Catalunya

"The wine is more tannic and ... it matured exclusively in 2,000-liter oak foudre, and the impact of the wood is milder. A very good result, it's powerful but has good balance. The vintage is more tannic ..." 97 Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

"Founded in 1979, the 20ha Clos Mogador lies at 350m altitude , surrounded by mountains up to 1,200m. The vines here grow on slate soils and the 2020 wine is a blend of 45% Garnacha, 29% Cariñena, 16% Syrah and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, fermented using 30% whole bunches and indigenous yeasts. The wine was aged entirely in 2,000L French oak foudres for 18 months before bottling. Beth Willard: A really dark and intense wine that speaks of the region. High-toned, perfumed notes and raspberry on the nose. Oak is well integrated. Big and rich, but with underlying elegance. Polished and serious. Diana Rollan: Dense and powerful nose with dark fruit, and notes of plum, black cherry, blueberries, sandalwood and dried herbs. Big and bold with pronounced tannins, but round and textured. David Williams: Complex nose with notes of blood orange, black cherry and Mediterranean herbs. Intensity but also drive on the palate; great mineral acidity, freshness." 95 Decanter Magazine

Joseph Colin Puligny-Montrachet Le Trezin 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Puligny Montrachet, Burgundy

"Beautifully layered aromas of smoked green apple, acacia and plenty of citrus elements give way to equally good volume and even more minerality on the impressively long and unusually powerful flavors that possess outstanding depth and persistence for a villages-level wine. This is built on its minerality though ultimately, it's the intricate and finely wrought balance that makes this such a standout. Vietti Nebbiolo Perbacco 2020, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Langhe, Piedmont

"The 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco is another terrific entry-level wine from Vietti. In this vintage, the Perbacco is especially fine. Sweet dried cherry, herbs, mint, crushed flowers, anise and orange peel grace this striking, alluring Nebbiolo. There's tons of depth and sheer pedigree, things that have not always been present in recent editions. For years, Perbacco was a very serious wine - some might say almost too serious - for its peer group. Then Vietti pivoted to a simpler style. With the 2020, Perbacco seems to once again be a wine that overdelivers, big time. Quite frankly, the 2020 Perbacco is more satisfying than many Barbarescos and Barolos I tasted this year. Telmo Rodriguez 'Gaba do Xil' O Barreiro 2021 2021, 0.75L
Godello from Valdeorras, Galicia

"The entry-level white from Valdeorras is now called the 2021 Gaba do Xil O Barreiro, which they harvested intermittently because of the rain from early September. The wine has only 12.5% alcohol and retained a low pH of 3.4. This was bottled unoaked after four months with lees in stainless steel. They have reduced the volume here, making a selection from their own vineyards in Larouco on red soils with a little more clay, so it's almost a different wine. This feels a bit reductive, a lot more than the other two whites; it's younger, a bit too young, but the palate is fresh and precise, with salty granite minerality and a dry finish with a bitter twist. 77,334 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2022." 92, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Remelluri Rioja Gran Reserva 2014, 0.75L
Tempranillo / Grenache / Graciano from Rioja Alavesa, La Rioja

"This still-youthful top wine from Remelluri's oldest vines has the quintessential Telmo Rodriguez-era combination of freshness, silkiness of tannin and aromatic detail, with purring power and wonderful concentration of blackcurrant fruit. One to hang on to for as long as possible." 96 David Williams, Decanter

"Elegant bouquet with beautiful, clear fruit. Notes of blackberry, plum, and black cherry. Hints of orange zest, Christmas spices, and smoky nuances. Powerful yet elegant on the palate, with juicy acidity and plenty of dark fruit. Fine-grained tannins and a long finish." 96 Falstaff Magazin

"A considerable step up on the 2013 release, this is a pale, refined, elegant Gran Reserva made from Tempranillo with 30% Garnacha and Graciano grown on poor limestone soils up to 780 metres. Floral, savoury and sweet, with fine tannins, some wild mountain herbs and bright acidity. Not a blockbuster, this is all about finesse and balance." 95 Tim Atkin MW, TimAtkin.com

"It's a little riper than the 2013, but it feels very complete. This is a red for the long run, and I am truly impressed by its texture and the quality of the tannins." 94 Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate

"A cool, creamy red with blueberry and black-cherry aromas and flavors. Medium to full body, round and polished tannins and a flavorful finish." 94 James Suckling

Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto Rosso di Montalcino 2020, 0.75L
Brunello from Montalcino, Tuscany

"The Gianni Brunelli Le Chiuse di Sotto 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is bright and loaded with a fresh, buoyant personality focused on red cherry, cassis and bitter almond. There are hints of ferrous earth and crushed aspirin that add extra contours and edging to this fun, easy-drinking Rosso. I certainly wouldn't mind this bottle next to a classic wood-fired pizza Margherita, but only 6,000 bottles were made, so I imagine availability will be limited." 91, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Vieux Château Certan 2017, 0.75L
Merlot/ Cabernet Franc/ Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"Possibly the wine of the vintage, the 2017 Vieux Chateau Certan is a blend of 81% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon from the highest point on the Pomerol plateau. Deep purple, with a heavenly bouquet of creme de cassis, blueberries, scorched earth, crushed violets, tobacco, and earth, this beauty is full-bodied, has incredible depth of fruit, ripe, present tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish. This estate has been on fire of late, and this is undoubtedly a worthy follow-on to the otherworldly 2015 and 2016. It has the depth of fruit and texture to offer pleasure even today, yet a solid 7-8 years of cellaring are warranted, and it should be long-lived. Bravo!" 98 Jeb Dunnuck, Jebdunnuck.com, Feb 2020

"Just as it was en primeur, the 2017 Vieux Château Certan is regal and soaring right out of the glass. Inky blue and purplish fruit, chocolate, licorice, lavender, spice and mint come together in a dense, dark and powerful Pomerol. The 2017 is an explosive, vivid wine of monastic beauty. In this vintage, VCC is especially dark and somber, which adds to a real feeling of mysterious beauty. It is a towering achievement from Alexandre and Guillaume Thienpont." 98 Antonio Gallioni, Vinous, Vinous.com, Mar 2020

"Composed of 81% Merlot, 14% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, the deep garnet-purple colored 2017 Vieux Château Certan gives up gorgeous black raspberries, crushed black currants and warm black berries on the nose with chocolate-covered cherries, violets and star anise suggestions plus black truffles and wood smoke. The palate is medium to full-bodied with wonderful concentration in the mid-palate and firm, very finely pixelated tannins, with seamless freshness and fantastic length." 96-98 Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate, April 2018

La Gravette de Certan 2018, 0.75L
Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"Currant, chocolate, wet-earth and cedar aromas follow through to a medium to full body with integrated, refined tannins that build on the palate and follow through in a polished way. Give it three or four years to open, as it seems rather tight. Almost all merlot with some cabernet sauvignon. Try after 2025." 95 James Suckling, Jamessuckling.com, Mar 2021

"The second wine of this beautiful estate certainly doesn't taste like a second wine, and the 2018 La Gravette De Certan certainly put a smile on my face. Based on 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon brought up in 50% new barrels, it has the same supple, seamless, sexy style of the Grand Vin, only with the volume turned down slightly. Redcurrants, truffle, tobacco, hints of chocolate, and damp earth all emerge on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a beautiful core of sweet fruit, silky tannins, and a great finish. It can be drunk today or cellared for 15 years or more." 94  Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com

"The 2018 La Gravette de Certan is a gorgeous second wine. Pliant, creamy and so expressive, La Gravette is everything a second wine should be. Juicy dark cherry fruit, spice, licorice, new leather and lavender fill out the layers effortlessly. No, the 2018 is not quite the 2016, but it's close." 92 Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Vinous.com

Gavoty Grand Classique Côtes de Provence Rosé 2022, 0.75L
Grenache/Cinsault/Carignan from Côtes de Provence, Provence

"Grand Classique” combines Grenache and Cinsault in roughly equal proportions, with Carignan playing a minor role. Rather than being pressed immediately after harvest by rote as many Provence rosés are, Roselyn Gavoty macerates for several hours before pressing, and the saignée and first-press juice are vinified separately, allowing her the flexibility to blend the more succulent and tender saignée with the more angular and architectural press-juice in a manner to achieve the precise textural qualities she seeks. “Grand Classique” displays an uncanny equilibrium, with racy acidity wed to gleaming fruits that are just the right amount of vinous, all buttressed by an elegant, mouthwatering texture that speaks to Roselyn’s consummate blending skills." Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 2020, 0.75L

"Another heavenly white from this estate is the 2020 Hermitage Blanc, which is the usual 80% Marsanne and 20% Roussanne from a mix lieux-dits. Incredibly perfumed with notes of acacia flowers, buttered stone fruits, toasted brioche, honeysuckle, and crushed stone, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a seamless, layered texture, beautiful mid-palate depth, and a great finish. The purity, balance, and intensity here are just about off the charts, and this beauty deserves a solid decade of bottle age, although you'll be excused if you drink one in its youth as well." 99 Jeb Dunnuck

Bodegas Hermanos Pecina Rioja Senorio de Pecina Crianza 2016, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Rioja Alta, La Rioja

"I love the classical nose of spice, berries and herbs of the 2016 Señorío de P. Peciña Crianza, a textbook ultra-classical Rioja that matured in used American oak barrels for 24 months, during which time it was racked by gravity every six months. These wines are fermented with indigenous yeasts and a soft vinification without much extraction of long macerations. It's expressive, polished and very pleasant, really what I expect in this style, with some developed notes and a gentle mouthfeel. 100,000 bottles produced. Very good introduction to a classical Crianza at a very attractive price. It was bottled in April 2021." 93, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Domaine Marcoux Chateauneuf-du-Pape 2020, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvedre / Syrah / Cinsault from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

"Vibrant black cherries, mulberries, peppery herbs, and spice are just some of the nuances in the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape, an utterly classic Châteauneuf du Pape that's medium to full-bodied, has the vintage's seamless profile, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. This beautiful, quintessential effort can be enjoyed any time over the coming 15 years or more. The 2020 is a normal blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvedre, 7% Syrah, and the rest Cinsault, brought up mostly in concrete tank, but with 20% in tronconique tanks and 5% in old barrels." 93, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

"A dark, bold style that features black currant, cassis and plum puree coursing alongside warm earth, black pepper, tobacco and steeped tea. Spicy tannins take hold on the finish, with a whiff of tar and smoke. Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault. Marcoux Chateauneuf du Pape Vieilles Vignes 2020, 0.75L
Grenache from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

"A towering effort, the 2020 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vieilles Vignes soars from the glass with pristine crème de cassis, raspberry jam, black plum, scorched earth, incense, mint, exotic spice and white pepper aromas. The precision of the individual perfumes has a laser-like quality rarely seen in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Full-bodied and framed by ever-so-velvety tannins, it reaches a spherical dimension in the mouth. The recent adoption of 3,000-liter Austrian oak barrels beautifully contributed to the shape of this wine, giving it terrific poise and tension." 97 Nicolas Greinacher, Vinous

"One of the world’s greatest expressions of Grenache year-in and year-out, the 2020 Châteauneuf Du Pape Vieilles Vignes is all varietal that was brought up in larger foudre. This cuvée comes from the Charbonnieres and Les Esqueirons lieux-dits, which are mostly more sandy soils. Its deeper purple color is followed by a concentrated, medium to full-bodied, powerful yet elegant Grenache offering ripe cherry and darker berry fruits, notes of ground pepper, garrigue, and licorice, ripe yet certainly present tannins, and a great finish. Reminding me slightly of the 2006, which is drinking brilliantly today, it’s going to offer incredible pleasure over its lengthy life. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following two decades." 97 Jeb Dunnuck

"Impressive depth of colour for the vintage, this is extremely round, fresh, clear and well-defined. Tannins are present and fairly strict in style, but they're ripe, and all in all this is exceptionally promising. Not huge in fruit or body, but well-balanced and precise. from 120-year-old vines planted on north-facing clay and sand lieux-dits of Charbonnières and Esquières. Fermented in concrete, aged in foudre." 97 Matt Walls, Decanter

Sangiovese from Rosso di Montalcino, Tuscany

"The 2020 Rosso di Montalcino is dark yet perfumed, with lavender and violet tones giving way to masses of ripe plum and cherry. Balsam herbs and hints of chalk develop with time in the glass, adding further depths. This is silky and round, with juicy acidity enlivening its ripe red and hints of blue fruit. Gazin 2014, 0.75L
Merlot from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"The soy-sauce and savory aromas really make this stand out, but behind it are some very nice fruit and elegant tannins. This is a very well-made modern Pomerol with a lot of potential that needs some time to reveal its full class. Give it five or six years of bottle age." 95 James Suckling

"The 2014 Gazin was stubborn and broody when tasted in bottle, but give it a few swirls and there comes forth gravel and black truffle scents alongside sultry black fruit. These aromatics are so engaging and involving, drawing you in towards it charms. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, crisp and taut with great precision and sappiness towards the focused, almost symmetrical, black truffle-laced finish. This continues Gazin's fine run of form, a great Pomerol from an estate predisposed these days to create sophisticated, classic wines." 94 Neal Martin, Wine Advocate

Vega Sicilia Unico Gran Reserva 2013, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

"This has a polished and complex nose of poached plums, dark cherries, tea leaves, graphite, milk chocolate and a touch of caramel. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm yet creamy tannins. Caressing, seductive and ripe, but with underlying freshness. 97% tempranillo and 3% cabernet sauvignon. Tasted from magnum. The normal bottle will be released 2023 and the magnum in 2025. Try after 2023." 98, James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com

"The wine is subtle, elegant and fresh, complex, silky and with precision. The wine matured in 225-liter barrels in an initial phase and then in 22,000-liter oak vats until it was bottled in June 2019. This year, the final blend was 97% Tinto Fino and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon with a little less alcohol, 14%, and a pH of 3.78 and 5.2 grams of acidity, fresh and balanced, more elegant and subtler. Único often transcends the character of the vintage and doesn't follow the norm in the region, and the 2013 is a good example of that. It was a very rainy and complicated vintage; they harvested quite quickly to avoid botrytis, and while other people waited for concentration, they did not, and their approach clearly paid back. It's aromatic and floral, less dense than the 2012, subtler, more expressive and more elegant. It's clean and fresh, tasty, with very fine tannins. It's a big surprise for the vintage and one of the finest Únicos in the last few years." 97, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Vega-Sicilia Valbuena 5° 2018, 0.75L
Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, Castilla y León

"The 2018 Valbuena comes from a cooler vintage with good yields that required sorting and selecting in search of a happy and vertical version of Valbuena, pushing a little more and giving the wine a little more oak, especially American (5%). It was produced with 96% Tinto Fino and 4% Merlot that went through a three- to four-day cold soak and fermented with indigenous yeasts followed by malolactic in stainless steel. The élevage was in new and used 225-liter oak barrels and 21,000-liter oak vats. It has 14.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.8 and 4.78 grams of acidity (tartaric), so it's ripe and with mellow acidity that gives it a mellow mouthfeel. This is a very spicy vintage for Valbuena, getting closer to the style of Único (while at the same time I felt the 2018 Pintia from Toro was getting closer to the aromatics of some vintages of Valbuena, like 2010). It was a late-ripening year with a tendency toward freshness in the wines. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with very fine tannins that made the wine nicely textured and very elegant. There is a lot of regularity in the Valbuena of the last few years, here with more tension and freshness of the 2017, a little more balsamic even. 180,580 bottles, 5,528 magnums and some larger formats produced. It was bottled in May 2021." 96, Luis Guiterrez, Wine Advocate

Michel Lafarge Clos des Aigrots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Côte de Beaune, Burgundy

"The 2020 Beaune Clos des Aigrots 1er Cru has an airy bouquet, very transparent with redcurrant and wild strawberry fruit, the 15% new oak nearly integrated. Very minerally. The palate is medium-bodied with fine grain tannins. This is a strict and mineral driven Beaune, very tensile but with ample weight and concentration on the finish. Excellent. (Drink between 2025-2045)" 92-94, Neal Martin, Vinous.com

"A notably more floral-suffused nose is attractively high-toned with its fresh aromas of essence of red currant and cherry. Bessin-Tremblay Chablis 2020, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Chablis, Burgundy

"Not surprisingly, having only been in bottle for one week, the 2020 Chablis AC from Domaine Bessin is a little shaken up post-bottling, but it is also abundantly clear that there is excellent depth and transparency here, coupled to lovely acidity and plenty of length and grip. Based on how well the wines that were still in tank showed, I have zero doubt that this wine too will deliver lovely precision and focus as well, once it has recovered from the mise. The bouquet offers up scents of apple, pear, chalky soil tones, a touch of citrus peel and a topnote of dried flowers. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and nicely balanced, with excellent material at the core, fine mineral undertow, zesty acids and impressive length and grip. The focus will snap back here once it recovers from the bottling and will be a lovely bottle of AC. (Drink between 2022-2040)" 90-91, John Gillman, View from the Cellar

"An overtly floral nose speak of ocean breeze, citrus and an interesting hint of crushed mint leaf. The delicious, fleshy and relatively forward medium-weight flavors possess an appealing texture along with a lingering finish that is brightened by refreshing hints of acid tang and bitter lemon. A quality villages that should drink well young." 89, Allen Meadows, Burghound

Rollin Pere & Fils Pernard Vergelesses Les Fichots 2020, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Pernand-Vergelesses, Burgundy

“The 2020 les Fichots from Domaine Rollin is another fine bottle in the making, but it is a bit more structured out of the blocks and will need a couple more years in the cellar than the les Vergelesses before it starts to drink with generosity. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of cassis, dark berries, espresso, a complex base of soil tones, grilled game, bonfire, a touch of cedar and a nice dollop of sweet stem tones from the whole clusters in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and impeccably balanced, with a rock solid core, fine transparency and grip, ripe tannins and a long, vibrant and still quite primary finish.” 92+ John Gillman, John Gillman's View From the Cellar, Dec 2021

A red wine of real elegance. The nose develops delicious aromas of well-ripe strawberries, raspberries and some spicy notes. The palate is well-rounded and fleshy, supported by a very mineral finish. It is worth waiting two to three years in bottle. Its structure and depth allow it to be matched with grilled red meats, with meats in highly seasoned sauces, with roast quail or pigeon." Producer Notes

Accendo Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"Accendo's 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon is every bit as alluring as it was from barrel. Plush and sensual, with no hard edges, the 2019 possesses magnificent balance from start to finish. Dark-fleshed fruit, spice, leather, tobacco and menthol build as this sumptuous, racy Cabernet shows off its tremendous charm. Best of all, the 2019 offers quite a bit of immediacy.
