Racines Chardonnay Sta. Rita Hills 2018, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Sta. Rita Hills, California

"Broad but precise in texture, this exudes green and yellow fruits interspersed with salted caramel and fennel. Justin Willett of Tyler Winery partnered with a group of mentors for the Racines label: Étienne de Montille and Brian Sieve of Domaine de Montille, as well as Rodolphe Péters of Champagne Pierre Péters for their still-in-the-works sparkling wine. The Sta. Rita Hills Chardonnay is built around the Wenzlau vineyard and spends 12 months in barrel before being racked to tank for a further six months." - 92 points, Decanter Magazine

Racines Pinot Noir Sta. Rita Hills 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills, California

"Racines is a collaboration between Tyler Winery’s Justin Willett, Domaine de Montille’s Étienne de Montille and Brian Sieve, and Rodolphe Péters of Champagne Pierre Péters, working with entirely Sta. RIta Hills fruit. For the most part, the entire lineup levels-up the intensity and structure of the Tyler wines, as is the case with their Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir. Sourced from multiple sites across the appellation with a backbone of La Encantada Vineyard. Meaty, dense, and reminiscent of a damp forest on the nose and palate, with a balanced, dark-fruited, saline-heavy finish." - 94 points, Decanter Magazine

Chateau Belle-Brise Pomerol 2015, 0.75L
from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"Biodynamic. 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc. This enigmatic Pomerol estate has a cult following... the 800-odd cases are sold directly to Michelin restaurants all over the world. In France alone, 18 Michelin three-star restaurants carry Belle-Brise on their lists. These very well crafted wines that often demonstrate a Burgundy-like allure (indeed, Monsieur de Coincy aspires a cross between Le Pin and Chambolle-Musigny)" - Importer Notes, Weygandt Wines

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 2017, 0.75L
Syrah from Hermitage, Rhône

"This delivers a long, flowing feel, letting cassis, plum reduction and blackberry compote flavors unfurl slowly while black tea, singed alder, tar, warm loam and dried anise notes play out in the background. Shows grace, power and wonderful length, with the finish, built on tannins at first glance, revealing buried acidity and latent mineral notes. Best from 2023 through 2040. 1,600 cases made, 250 cases imported." - 97 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Rouge 2014, 0.75L
Syrah from Hermitage, Rhône

"This starts strong, with warm ganache, steeped fig and crushed blackberry flavors, then gains steam, picking up smoldering charcoal, bay leaf and juniper accents as the wine drives and expands through the finish. Offers a long echo of graphite, with the fruit keeping pace. Very impressive for the vintage. Best from 2020 through 2040. 2,500 cases made." - 96 points, James Molesworth, Wine Spectator

Vincent Girardin Pommard Les Epenots 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Pommard, Burgundy

"A hint of freshness plays on the otherwise closed nose of this wine. Still tightly coiled, the palate presents a balanced picture of elegant firmness. Freshness and fine tannins create the structure upon which the vivid red cherry can shine. This wine is elegant, balanced and most promising. Drink 2025–2035." 94 points, Anee Krebiehl MW, Wine Enthusiast

Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre from Gigondas, Rhône

"Moving to the three Gigondas I was able to taste, the 2019 Gigondas Vieilles Vignes comes from a mix of terroirs on the lower plain, around the estate, and is mostly Grenache brought up in larger, very old foudre and concrete tanks. Deep purple/ruby hued, with a beautiful perfume of black raspberries, candied flowers, and sweet garrigue, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a silky texture, great tannins, and plenty of length on the finish. This is a more finesse-driven, silky, elegant wine than past vintages and it's going to drink nicely for over a decade." - 91-93 points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Chateau Carignan Prima 2018, 0.75L
from Cotes de Bordeaux, Bordeaux

"The colour of elderberry juice and a purple rim. More immediately aromatic than the Ch Carignan Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux, and sweeter smelling, from both fruit and oak. The same extremely smooth, chocolate-texture tannins and even with the riper fruit profile, more obvious freshness. Richer on the mid palate and more generous overall. Masses of compact but rounded tannins. Chewy, long finish and needs time. Drink it too young and the tannin build-up would be challenging." - 16.5/20, Julia Harding MW, JancisRobinson.com

Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Les Souteyrades Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Syrah from Gigondas, Rhône

"Also showing considerable elegance, the 2019 Gigondas Les Souteyrades sports a ruby/purple hue to go with beautiful and exotic notes of black raspberries, kirsch, candied orange, violets, and peppery garrigue. Beautifully balanced, medium to full-bodied, and downright silky on the palate, this heavenly Grenache should be snatched up by readers. It's going to keep for 15 years." - 94-96 points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas La Louisiane Vieilles Vignes 2019, 0.75L

"The 2019 Gigondas La Louisiane hails from a south-facing slope of clay and sand and is a blend of 80% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Syrah and Cinsault, all aged in foudre. Loaded with black cherries and mixed berries, it's a big, full-bodied effort that drinks surprisingly well already yet has the concentration, length and structure that should enable it to age another 15 years or more." - 94-96 points, Joe Czerwinski, The Wine Advocate

Domaine Saint-Damien Gigondas Clovis Saurel 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre from Gigondas, Rhône

"Lastly, the 2019 Gigondas Clovis Saurel is named after the founder of this domaine and is a selection from the best vines and terroirs. Its deeper purple hue is followed by a gorgeous perfume of darker berry fruits, ground pepper, graphite, spicy garrrigue, and stunning minerality. Reminding me of the 2016, this is serious juice that offers full-bodied richness, a deep, dense mid-palate, silky tannins, and a great, great finish. Don't miss it!" - 96-98 points, Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Rieussec 2011, 0.75L
from Sauternes, Bordeaux

"The 2011 Rieussec, a blend of 95% Semillon, 2% Sauvignon Blanc and 3% Muscadelle is an absolute dream. There is wonderful precision and mineralité on the nose, the new oak more integrated than a few months ago. The palate is beautifully balanced with clear honey, brioche and pralines, a sensual Rieussec that is utterly charming, hints of nougat and almond lingering on the long finish. Gorgeous!" - 95, Neal Martin, The Wine Advocate

"Enticing aromas of fragrant blue flowers, perfumed berries and baking spice mingle with a whiff of new leather. Full-bodied and elegantly structured, it's still young but already delicious, doling juicy Marasca cherry, raspberry compote and baking spice. Firm, refined tannins provide support. While you won't have to wait years to enjoy this, it will also offer years of pleasure." - 97 Points, Kerin O'Keefe, Wine Enthusiast

Domaine Roulot Meursault Les Luchets 2009, 0.75L

"The 2009 Meursault Luchets is rich, round and supple. It is one of the more open, accessible wines from Roulot in 2009. Layers of warm, radiant fruit caress the palate in stunning style. Domaine Les Grand Bois Cairanne Cuvée Maximilien 2018, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre / Syrah from Côtes du Rhône Villages, Rhône

Red wine. Southern Rhône, France. Organic. 50% Grenache, 35% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah. Organic. "Hints of crushed stone mark the nose of the 2018 Cairanne Maximilien, a tank-matured blend of Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah. It seems a bit subdued compared to last year's tank sample, but it still features attractive shadings of thyme, bay leaf and ripe cherries, with a bit of anise on the finish. Medium to full-bodied, smooth and elegant on the palate, it finishes with gentle, dusty tannins." —91 Points, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate

“The 2019 The Bard checks in as 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot, and it’s another dense, rich, powerful wine from this team that readers are going to absolutely love. Coming from throughout the valley (it’s always a great representation of the vintage), it offers up a brilliant nose of crème de cassis, ripe plums, graphite, scorched earth, and chocolate. About as seamless as they come on the palate, it’s full-bodied and has a thrilling texture, building tannins, and a gorgeous finish. Vieux Chateau Certan 2009, 1.5L
Merlot from Pomerol, Bordeaux

"The 2009's nearly 14% natural alcohol, exquisite ripeness, and incredible complex bouquet of Asian spices, fruitcake, licorice, smoke, blackberries and black currants are to die for. A blend of 84% Merlot and the rest equal parts Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, it possesses a viscous texture as well as a freshness and vibrancy that are remarkable given the wine’s weight, richness and potential massiveness. This extraordinary effort is one of the finest Vieux Chateau Certans made over the last sixty years. It will undoubtedly shut down in bottle, requiring a decade or more of cellaring. It should keep for 50 years thereafter. Proprietor Thienpont thinks it is a modern day version of the 1948.

As I wrote in my barrel tasting notes, the 2009 ranks alongside four of the legendary vintages of Vieux Chateau Certan’s ancient past, 1945, 1947, 1948 and 1950. It is undoubtedly a cleaner wine than those older vintages, and the selection process under proprietor Alexandre Thienpont was far more severe in 2009 than it would have been sixty years ago." 99 points, Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

"The mineral-laced 2005 Haut Brion (56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc) is exquisite. With its elegance and finesse, it is not as powerful as La Mission, but the nobility and complexity of the aromatics, incredible fragrance (subtle smoke and blue, red, and black fruits) that persists in the glass, full-bodied mouthfeel (though very light and delicate on its feet), and incredible length characterize this great Haut-Brion. It is just starting to drink well, and should continue to do so for at least another three decades. It is a tour de force in winemaking, but only 9,000 cases we

Clos Saint-Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Sanctus Sanctorum 2019, 1.5L

"Lastly, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Sanctus Sanctorum is one of those wines that’s hard to describe as it seems to change every time you come back to it. Offering a more translucent ruby hue as well as a smorgasbord-like array of blackberries, black raspberries, violets, Provençal garrigue, ground pepper, flowers, and smoke, it’s a dream wine in every sense. All Grenache from a single parcel in the La Crau lieu-dit, brought up in used demi-muids, it hits the palate with flawless balance, a powerful, full-bodied mouthfeel, perfectly ripe tannins, and a gorgeous finish. The grapes are briefly macerated and the fermentation occurs at controlled temperatures (around 15 degrees Celsius) for two to three weeks. The wine rests in stainless steel until the early spring months of the following year and is usually released to the market, after several months of bottle aging, in late summer/early fall. "Starting off a trio of truly magical wines, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape La Combe Des Fous checks in as 70% Grenache, 20% Syrah, and the rest Vaccarèse and Cinsault raised in tank and demi-muids. Sensationally pure cassis and blackberry fruits as well as complex notes of lavender, Provençal garrigue, ground pepper, and flowers all define this full-bodied 2019, which displays the vintage’s ripe, perfumed style while bringing more finesse, elegant, and purity than just about every other wine out there. Clos Saint-Jean Châteauneuf-du-Pape Deux Ex Machina 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Mourvèdre from Chateauneuf du Pape, Rhône

"Also pure perfection in a glass, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Deus-Ex Machina is a 60/40 split of Grenache and Mourvèdre, from tiny yields and the famed La Crau lieu-dit, that’s raised in a mix of concrete tanks and demi-muids. My notes on this wine were loaded with expletives and finishes with “awesome, just awesome.” Blackcurrants, kirsch liqueur, licorice, spiced meat, and Provençal garrigue all define this incredible achievement, and it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, remarkable purity, building, silky tannins, and a mammoth-sized finish. More Mourvèdre spice box and garrigue notes emerge with time in the glass, and while it has the fruit to offer pleasure now, it will benefit from a solid 4-5 years of bottle age and cruise for 20-25 years if stored correctly. Along with the 2007, 2010, and 2016, this is a legendary Châteauneuf du Pape. Hats off to the Maurel family and oenologue Philippe Cambie." -Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com

Guido Porro Langhe Nebbiolo Camilu 2020, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Langhe, Piedmont

."Don’t be fooled: this is a simple Langhe Nebbiolo in name and in price, but there is much more to it. The grapes are sourced from parcels adjacent to two legendary Barolo crus in the commune of Serralunga d’Alba: Lazzarito and the fabled Vigna Rionda. Having tasted Porro’s Baroli from these two sites, I infer that the Lazzarito portion provides this Nebbiolo with its surprising finesse, in the form of plush, toothsome fruit and a lovely perfume of dried flowers. The Vigna Rionda portion, conversely, supplies power and earthy grip. You’ll find enough structure to take this rosso seriously, but not enough to keep you from gulping it down unabashedly." —Anthony Lynch, Kermit Lynch Imports

Chardonnay from Russian River Valley, California

"The 2019 Chardonnay Dutton Ranch is energetic and tensile, beginning with grapefruit and lemon peel aromas that open over time to white peaches, dried lilac, beeswax and cashews. The palate is satiny and expansive. Its intense, floral-laced flavors are refreshed by youthfully tangy acidity, and it has an ethereal finish that just goes on and on. Wow!" 97+ Points, Erin Brooks, Wine Advocate

Kistler Chardonnay McCrea Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Sonoma Mountain, California

"I always love the Chardonnay from this site, and the 2019 Chardonnay McCrea Vineyard doesn't disappoint, offering incredible purity, precision, and obvious minerality. More white peach, lemon, white flowers, and crushed stone notes emerge from the glass, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a layered, mineral-laced mouthfeel, a touch of toasted nuts on the palate, and a fabulous finish. It's another incredible wine from winemaker Jason Kesner that will evolve for 10-15 years in cold cellars." 97 Points, Jeb Dunnuck

"So many fresh floral notes, plenty of orange zest, sage and a whiff of smoke. Juicy stone fruit and lively acidity, with very well integrated natural grape sweetness that you feel less and less as the wine flows over your palate into the delicate, wet-stone and rock-salt finish. "Feel the dark side of the Kabinett force! Plenty of cassis and grapefruit aromas, but also ripe stone fruit, darker wild berries, wet earth and rocks. Tertre Roteboeuf 2012, 0.75L
Merlot / Cabernet Franc from St. Emilion, Bordeaux

"The 2012 Tertre-Roteboeuf is without question one of the wines of the vintage. Remarkably vivid for such a big, super-ripe wine, the 2012 boasts superb nuance and delineation from start to finish. Dense, powerful and explosive, the 2012 is a real head-turner, but it is also going to need at least a few years to shed some baby fat. Still, the 2012 is impressive, even today. With time in the glass the aromas open up and tannins soften a touch, both indications of what is in store for those who can wait. The October 10 harvest was very much in line with the norm here. Tertre-Rôteboeuf is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The 2012 spent 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels." 95+ Points, Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Bartolo Mascarello Barolo 2017, 0.75L
Nebbiolo from Barolo, Piedmont

"Palish ruby. Subdued, subtle fragrant and savoury nose. With aeration increasingly complex and deep. Dark stalky/spicy notes. Compact and still firmly curled up, but with great fruit focus. A frightening amount of tannins reveal themselves on the finish but matched by great depth of fruit. Not to be approached right now. This will be slumbering for quite a while before it will show its wonders."

Paolo Scavino Barolo Cannubi 2017, 0.75L

"Sadly after this vintage, we only have one more. This Cannubi will no longer be produced after 2018. Enjoying it while we can, the Paolo Scavino 2017 Barolo Cannubi is fragrant and rich, showing a gorgeous level of aromatic purity and intensity that could not have been easy to achieve in the very hot vintage. Tones of wild cherry, blackberry, spice and sweet earth rise from the bouquet with prominence. "The 2011 Barolo Riserva Novantesimo is a proud and exuberant wine that does enormous justice to the vintage and to the mighty Nebbiolo grape. This is remembered as a warm growing season, and this wine is richly layered, generous and beautifully intense as a result. Dark cherry aromas are folded within spice, cured tobacco and leather. The best part is that subtle crunch or snap you get on the palate, thanks to the fresh acidity that is neatly integrated within." 97 Points, Monica Larner, Wine Advocate

Peter Michael Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Au Paradis 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot / Cabernet Franc from Oakville, California

"Peter Michael’s Au Paradis vineyard is composed of the red, rocky, volcanic soils common to parts of Pritchard Hill, which makes sense since it is located in Oakville foothills, below Continuum and above Dalla Valle. Composed of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot and 11% Cabernet Franc, the medium to deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Au Paradis sashays out of the glass with gorgeous notes of kirsch, cassis and redcurrant jelly, plus suggestions of garrigue, clove oil, lavender and spearmint with a touch of cast-iron pan. Lancelot-Courtois Cuvee Traditionelle NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cramant, Champagne

Jean-Paul Lancelot gives the appearance of being just a simple vigneron, man of the earth, French grower harkening back a couple of generations, which is true; however, he is the proud owner of 4 hectares of the greatest vines in Champagne - all 4 hectares in Grand Cru villages Cramant, Avize, Oger and Chouilly. His vines are old, though his Cuvée Traditionelle is comprised of his two oldest sites.  One parcel is in Oger, named “Les Monts Chenevaux” planted in 1953; the other in Grand Cru Chouilly, named “Les Monts Aigous” planted in 1957 and adjoining one of Moet’s principal parcels for Dom Perignon. We call this cuvee “Vieilles Vignes”. Importer Notes, Weygandt Wines

Newfound Gravels California 2019 2019, 0.75L
Grenache / Carignane from California, California

Sourcing
In 2019 we transitioned Gravels from a Grenache dominant wine to a 50/50 marriage of Grenache and Carignane. The Grenache was sourced entirely from the Cemetery Vineyard and the Carignane entirely from the Colombini Ranch. Both sites contain similar geology and are planted in (the simplest of terms) gravel. The Grenache and all of its perfume and elegance combined with the density and nerve of the Carignane were the perfect match for our second iteration of ‘Gravels’. Thirty days separated the picks - as the Grenache arrived toward the end of August with the Carignane completing our harvest as the final pick coming in at the end of September.

Vinification
When vinifying the wine our extraction techniques favored elegance over abundance. The lots were fermented separately but employed similar methods – 100% whole cluster, wild yeasts, one simple cap-wetting per day - spending up to 35 days in total on the skins. The Grenache was aged in one 2000L Austrian oval barrel, while the Carignane was aged in one 2000L French Foudré. A total of 14 months were spent in each vessel before assembly at which point the wines were racked, blended and bottled unfined and unfiltered.

Tasting
Deep black cherry, herbal sage brush, lavender and melon rind aromatics. That palate combines density and a snappy freshness that makes this bottling a versatile companion for any meal or occasion. Drink now or over the next five years.

Speri Amarone Sant' Urbano 2016, 0.75L
Corvina / Molinara / Rondinella from Amarone della Valpolicella, Veneto

"The 2016 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Sant'Urbano takes some time to blossom in the glass, as mineral-tinged blackberry evolves into a display of currants and cherries complemented by hints of sweet mint, lavender and violets. It’s velvety in texture and savory to the core, coasting dark red and black fruits across a medium-bodied frame, contrasted by vibrant acids, as grippy tannins form up toward the close. This finishes youthfully structured yet amazingly long, with echoes of licorice and purple inner florals. The 2016 is geared for the cellar, and in need of some time to soften, but my expectations are very high.'" 95 Points Eric Guido, Vinous

."A small amount of Cotes du Rhone is produced from the vineyards owned by the estate in the communes of Vacqueyras and Violes. As with the more noble Gigondas, this cuvée is based almost exclusively on the Grenache grape (approximately 90% of the blend annually). It is vinified in a fashion similar to the Gigondas except that the elevage is less long. This is to say that there is an extended cuvaison with stems included, malolactic is done in cuve and the wine sees a brief stay in large foudres before being bottled eighteen months after harvest without fining or filtration." - Importer Notes, Rosenthal

Albert Boxler Riesling Sommerberg Dudenstein 2014, 0.75L
Riesling from Niedermorschwihr, Alsace

"The 2014 Riesling Grand Cru Sommerberg Dudenstein (Sommerberg D in Europe) is from a lower (250-290 meters), southeast-facing plot with 70-year-old vines on granite over limestone (Muschelkalk) soils. It opens with a very clear, fresh and complex bouquet with smoky lemon and some richer herbal flavors. Full-bodied, round and elegant, this is a very intense and juicy, silky textured, almost sweet and well-structured Riesling; it seems to be a bit smoother than the pure granite selections of the cru. In fact, the combination of granite sandstone and limestone in the tiny plot is unique in Alsace. The finish is highly aromatic, lush and fruity but also mineral, and displays floral aromas in the long aftertaste. This wine should be kept for at least ten years but will still be great in 30 years. 96 Points Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate

Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley, California

"The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Lyndenhurst is a fabulous wine that shows just how compelling the vintage is, even among mid-tier offerings. Blackberry, graphite, cloves, licorice and lavender all build in the glass. The Lyndenhurst Cabernet is usually much more approachable, but the 2018 is a real powerhouse. I would give the tannins at least a few years to soften. This is impressive, to say the least." 94 Points Antonio Galloni, Vinous

Bernard Levet Côte-Rôtie Les Journaries 2018, 0.75L
Syrah / Viognier from Côte-Rôtie, Rhône

"An intensely perfumed nose displays mineral-accented black/blue fruit and floral pastille scents that pick up olive paste, bacon and exotic spice notes with air. In a concentrated yet energetic style, offering appealingly sweet cherry, blueberry, licorice, spicecake and candied lavender flavors braced by a spine of juicy acidity. Shows outstanding clarity and mineral thrust on a wonderfully long, floral-accented finish shaped by fine-grained, slow-building tannins. 70% of this fruit comes from La Landonne and the rest is from Côte Blonde. Outside of the US, this bottling is called “Maestria.” All whole clusters; raised in mostly neutral demi-muids." 94 Points Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Hall Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon 2017, 0.375L

"A barrel sample of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Kathryn Hall is opaque purple-black colored and bursts flamboyantly from the glass, revealing notes of spice cake, potpourri, Ceylon tea and incense notes over a core of black currant cordial, black forest cake and baked blackberries with a waft of dusty soil. Chanin Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Santa Maria Valley, California

"There are nine barrels of the 2019 Chardonnay Bien Nacido Vineyard, which comes from one of the top sites in the whole Central Coast. Revealing a medium gold hue as well as lots of orchard and ripe lemon fruits, it's medium to full-bodied and has classic Bien Nacido salinity, subtle toasty and nutty nuances, a solid spine of acidity, and a great, great finish. This brilliant, gorgeous Chardonnay does everything right, and I'd put it up with the crème de la crème of the vintage.97 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Chanin Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict 2019, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Sta. Rita Hills, California

"I loved the 2019 Pinot Noir Sanford & Benedict Vineyard. This is a gem in the vintage that readers should snatch up. A more floral, ethereal wine, it has gorgeous cherry and framboise fruit, medium body, a tight, vibrant, focused mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a bright spine of acidity that carries through the finish. It's a stunning Pinot Noir that I'd happily put in a blind lineup with the best out there. Give it a year or two and enjoy over the following 10-15 years.97 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Jean-Louis Chave Hermitage Blanc 2018, 0.75L

"In the end, I'm unable to definitely say that the 2017 Hermitage Blanc is better than the stupendous 2016. Of course, I sampled it just three days after it was bottled, so I've appended the + to my rating, as there's a possibility the wine may have been affected by that process. It's gently toasty but dominated at this stage by forward melon and pineapple fruit. Léoville-Barton 2017, 0.375L
Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot from St. Julien, Bordeaux

"Léoville-Barton is one of the very few wines, from any appellation, that combines power and finesse with such grace in 2017. Rich, deep and wonderfully expressive, the 2017 has so much offer. The high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon comes through loud and clear. Inky dark, fruit, game, spice, mint, licorice and lavender all build in a wine of regal elegance and head spinning beauty. For its combination of quality and price, Léoville-Barton remains one the most consumer-friendly wines of the Left Bank. The blend is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot. The September rains were especially challenging for the Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Jean Foillard Morgon Cuvée Corcelette 2019, 0.75L
Gamay from Morgon, Beaujolais

"Saturated magenta. Expressive aromas of red and dark fruit preserves, star anise and potpourri pick up a smoky mineral topnote with air. Juicy and energetic in the mouth, offering concentrated raspberry and cherry liqueur, fruitcake and floral pastille flavors supported by a core of smoky minerality. At once powerful and lithe, finishing on a gently tannic note with superb, floral- and mineral-driven tenacity." 94 Points Josh Raynolds, Vinous

Pinot Noir from Nuits St. Georges, Burgundy

"Les Perrières is situated close to the quarry in Nuits-St-Georges and often seems to have a slightly chalky note to it chez Chevillon. Aged in 30% new wood, it's one of the more structured wines in the domaine's range in 2018, exhibiting impressive depth and concentration, sweet bramble and mulberry fruit, sinewy tannins and the potential to age stylishly in bottle." 94 Points Tim Atkin, Decanter

Full-bodied, rich and muscular, it's deep and concentrated, with a serious chassis of ripe, powdery tannins, lively acids and a long, resonant finish. Hamilton Russell Vineyards Chardonnay 2019, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Hemel-En-Aarde Valley, Walker Bay

"Unlike the Hamilton Russell Pinot Noir in the fireaffected 2019 vintage, the Chardonnay was all made with estate fruit. Entirely whole bunch-pressed for the first time, it’s a commendably bright, elegant and focused wine with less malolactic (10%) than normal, pithy acidity, a hint of stone fruit sweetness and refined 27% new French oak. Something of a triumph against the odds." 95 Points Tim Atkin MW

"Made with 84% purchased fruit because of the fire in Hamilton Russell’s own vineyards, this is a cuvée of the three Hemel-en-Aarde Valley sub-regions, and all the better for it. A one-off it may be, but it’s less earthy and backward than the estate’s normal style, combining fragrance elegance with racy red berry fruit, some clove spice, supporting tannins and stylish oak." 95 Points Tim Atkin MW

Youthfully chewy and alluringly sweet, offering concentrated, spice-laced black raspberry, bitter cherry, boysenberry and succulent herb flavors sharpened by a jolt of juicy acidity. Lancelot-Courtois Blanc de Blancs Brut NV, 0.75L
Chardonnay from Cramant, Champagne

"New to the Weygandt portfolio this year Champagne Lancelot-Courtois is a family business that goes back several generations. The domaine is small, only four hectares, but those four hectares are all located in grand cru villages and the vines are all forty plus years old. The wines are elegant and balanced, showing nuanced fruit and minerality. This is not a big rich style of champagne, but brighter and more elegant with a fine mousse. It is a Champagne which begs the question when isn’t it a good time for champagne. This cuvee is a blending of terroirs from the villages of Cramant, Avize, Oger, and Chouilly, made with grapes from all but his oldest plots." Importer Notes, Weygandt Wines

Schrader Cabernet Sauvignon Double Diamond 2018, 0.75L
Cabernet Sauvignon from Oakville, California

"Readers looking to get a taste of the impeccable quality and style from Schrader at a more affordable price point would do well to check out the 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Double Diamond. Coming all from Oakville, it has a classic Cabernet nose of black and blue fruits, green tobacco, cedar pencil, damp earth, and chocolate. It's not over the top and has beautiful varietal character as well as medium to full body, ripe yet present tannins, good overall freshness, and a great finish. This is beautifully done and well worth a case purchase. I'd lean toward drinking bottles over the coming 10-12 years, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised to see it evolve longer. It's a candidate for the best Napa Cabernet under $100." 95 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Domaine Michel Juillot Bourgogne Rouge 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Mercurey, Burgundy

"Laurent Juillot’s 2018 Bourgogne Rouge is a really lovely example of both the vintage and its appellation. The bouquet wafts from the glass in a nascently complex blend of red and black cherries, gamebird, woodsmoke, chalky soil tones and a touch of mustard seed in the upper register. On the palate the wine is bright, fullish and tangy, with a good core, lovely soil
inflection and focus, moderate tannins and a long, youthful and quite promising finish. Like so many top examples of Bourgogne rouge, this wine needs a few years in the cellar to blossom, but it is very well made and will be a fine example in due time." John Gilman, View from the Cellar

Domaine Michel Juillot Mercurey Clos des Barraults 2018, 0.75L
Pinot Noir from Mercurey, Burgundy

"The Domaine Juillot 2018 Clos des Barraults rouge is another outstanding wine in the making, with the vintage’s character giving the wine a quite black fruity personality this year. The wine offers up a refined aromatic constellation of dark berries, black cherries, a touch of pomegranate, roasted venison, a complex base of soil, fire pit, fresh thyme and a nice touch of spicy oak. On the palate the wine is bright, full-bodied, complex and well-balanced, with excellent depth in the mid-palate, ripe, well-integrated tannins and a long, tangy and promising finish. All this lovely wine needs is bottle age."  92+ Points John Gilman, View from the CellarJohn Gilman, View from the Cellar

"There is a touch of menthol to the distinctly earthy and sauvage-inflected aromas of violet and poached plum. There is very good volume and mid-palate density to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that deliver fine length on the dusty and youthfully austere finale. This too will need at least a few years of bottle age to round off the supporting tannins." Outstanding ♥,  Allen Meadows, Burghound
