The one that disappears from patios, restaurant tables, beach houses, and dinner parties because everyone who tastes it wants another glass. This could be that bottle. Thibaud Boudignon has quietly become one of the most sought-after producers in the Loire Valley. While his name is still flying under the radar in much of the United States, spend a week eating your way through the best wine bars in Paris, Copenhagen, Stockholm, or London, and you'll quickly realize that sommeliers already know exactly who he is. There's a reason for that. After training in Bordeaux and working at the iconic Château Soucherie in the Loire, Boudignon launched his own domaine with a relentless focus on organic farming, native fermentations, and wines that express place above everything else. Today, his tiny-production wines have become some of the most coveted bottles in the Loire. His rosé has an equally interesting story. Originally produced at the request of his California importer, it quickly developed a cult following of its own. Even today, production remains small, sourced primarily from 30+ year-old Cabernet Franc vines, blended with a touch of Grolleau, then fermented with native yeast and aged entirely in stainless steel to preserve freshness and purity. And unlike many rosés that lean heavily on simple fruit, this wine has real personality. Fresh watermelon, wild strawberry, citrus, herbs, and that unmistakable leafy, savory character that makes Loire Cabernet Franc so distinctive. There's tremendous energy, beautiful minerality, and just enough texture to make it as compelling at the dinner table as it is by the pool. It's refreshing without being simple. Serious without taking itself too seriously. At around $24, this is exactly the kind of rosé we look forward to every summer. It's delicious, remarkably well-made, and just different enough to surprise even seasoned wine lovers. If you're only buying one rosé this season... This would be a very good place to start.
