Instead of Sonoma, he brought his precision, restraint, and obsession with balance to southern Chianti Classico, crafting a wine that feels more like a refined Saint-Émilion than a typical Tuscan red. The blend is Merlot-driven, supported by Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, grown on the region’s unique galestro soils. The 2013 vintage in Tuscany was a classic, long, cool growing season that delivered elegance, freshness, and structure. After more than a decade of bottle age, this wine is right in the pocket. In the glass, Valadorna 2013 is polished and seamless, with black cherry, mint, sage, spice, and a mineral core that feels almost limestone-driven. The tannins are resolved, the fruit is still vibrant, and the finish is long and composed. It has the bones and balance of a top-tier Bordeaux, but with unmistakable Tuscan soul. It originally retailed around $100. We’re offering it at $39.98 — a massive haircut on a 95-point, fully mature wine made by one of the greatest winemakers on the planet. The aging has already been done for you. All that’s left is to open, pour, and enjoy.
