Yes. Because every time we do, you all buy it. And there is a very good reason for that. El Enemigo Chardonnay has quietly been one of the greatest Chardonnay values on the planet for nearly a decade. Vintage after vintage, it delivers precision, complexity, and polish at a price that makes absolutely no sense. This wine comes from a single high elevation vineyard in Mendoza owned by the Catena family. The same vineyard that produces the iconic Stones and Bones Chardonnay that sells for well over $100 a bottle. Same soils. Same elevation. Same raw material. Different parcels and a very different price. The winemaking here is serious. Native yeast fermentation. Partial aging under flor yeast, the same yeast you find in Jura and certain Sherry styles, used here with restraint and intention. Thirty five percent new oak in large format barrels for nine months, yet the wine shows zero overt oak character. What has changed over the years is refinement. Early vintages were sharper, more vertical, more about flexing intellect. Today the wine is broader, more generous, and more complete while still maintaining tension and complexity. Especially in the warm 2023 vintage, this balance is impressive. In the glass, the wine is layered and textured. Stone fruit, citrus oil, saline minerality, and subtle savory notes from the flor. The mid palate is plush without being heavy. The finish is long, clean, and incredibly easy to love. This is not a flashy Chardonnay. It is a confident one. The kind of wine that knows exactly what it is and does not need to shout. At $21.98, it continues to kick far above its price point. Ninety six points from Suckling. Ninety four from Vinous. Ninety three from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. All of that is nice, but the real proof is how often people come back for another bottle. If you love Chardonnay and want something serious, versatile, and insanely well priced, this remains the answer.
