Champagne Renaudin Réserve Blanc de Blancs is made the old way, by a tiny family estate farming just 12 hectares in the northern Côte des Blancs corridor. These are not flashy wines. They are deeply traditional, quietly brilliant, and built entirely around patience. The Réserve is 100 percent Chardonnay, drawn from top sites just north of the Côte des Blancs, with zero malolactic fermentation and vinification entirely in stainless steel. The reserve wines are held in large oak vats before blending, adding depth without oak flavor. Here is the wild part. The base wine is 2010, and the bottle was disgorged just last year. That means this Champagne spent roughly 14 years aging on the lees, with about 20 percent reserve wines that are even older. This kind of aging is usually reserved for ultra-luxury cuvées that sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars. And yet, here it is. In the glass, the wine has incredible energy for its age. Bright, spine-tingling acidity. Layered texture. Creamy but precise. Chalk, citrus oil, toasted brioche, and savory depth all working together. The dosage sits around six grams, which keeps the wine perfectly balanced, not sweet, not austere. This is not a mass-produced Champagne. Production is tiny, measured in the thousands of bottles, not millions. It is one of those bottles you open and immediately smile because everything feels right. At $45, this is one of the greatest Champagne values we see all year. It drinks like bottles that cost several times more, and it only gets better with time. If you love aged Champagne, this is non-negotiable.
