Socré Barbaresco Roncaglie 2021 https://www.winex.com/socre-barbaresco-roncaglie-2021.html Join our Daily Email Offer List: https://cdn.forms-content.sg-form.com/f3da488a-d10b-11ee-94a3-62718bdc6118 Some wines are great because of the producer. Others are great because of where they come from. This one has both. The Socré Barbaresco Roncaglie 2021 comes from one of the most prestigious Nebbiolo vineyards in all of Piedmont. Roncaglie sits right next to the famed sites used by Gaja, where bottles routinely sell for $500 and up. That’s the neighborhood. The Santino family has been working these vineyards since the 1800s, quietly producing small amounts of Barbaresco from elite terroir that most collectors never get access to at this price. And in 2021, everything came together. This is widely considered one of the greatest vintages for Nebbiolo in the last two decades, delivering wines with both power and precision. The winemaking follows a classic but thoughtful approach. A mix of large barrels and smaller oak gives the wine structure without overwhelming the fruit, allowing the vineyard to show through. In the glass, it’s everything you want from top-tier Barbaresco. Rose petals, cherry, strawberry, and subtle mint notes lead into a wine that is layered, perfumed, and constantly evolving as it opens. The tannins are refined and integrated, giving the wine structure without harshness. Critics took notice. 96 points from Antonio Galloni, calling out the exceptional quality coming from this small, under-the-radar producer. And then there’s the price. $45. For a wine from this level of vineyard, in this kind of vintage, that’s almost unheard of. Production is tiny. Only a couple hundred bottles available. If you love Nebbiolo, this is one you don’t wait on.
