Produced by the legendary Eguren (Gordon) brothers, this wine comes from 55–75-year-old Tempranillo vines in San Vicente and surrounding Sierra Cantabria vineyards — the same origins as their high-end bottlings like Señorío de San Vicente and Cosecha. Aged exclusively in American oak barrels (25 percent new, 75 percent 1–3 years old), it’s crafted in Rioja’s timeless Gran Reserva style but with modern cleanliness, precision, and polish. The blend is 98 percent Tempranillo with 2 percent Graciano, delivering deep concentration, aromatic complexity, and elegance only possible from seriously old vines. The 2016 vintage was massive in Rioja, and after nearly 10 years of aging at the winery, this bottle arrives perfectly mature: refined, structured, powerful, and silky. With multiple 93-point scores and a 95 from Decanter, it shows consistency across critics in both Spain and the U.S. — a true indicator of class. At around $45, it is one of the great Gran Reserva values in the world and drinks at the level of classified-growth Bordeaux. Expect decades of life ahead, especially with a short decant.
