Linda Flor was founded in the late 1990s when a group of Bordeaux growers, encouraged by Michel Rolland, came to the Uco Valley with a simple idea. Make wines with Argentine fruit but Bordeaux discipline. Not wines built to sell young, but wines built to age. Most producers rushed bottles to market. Linda Flor waited. The Linda Flor Blend 2018 is a carefully composed mix of Malbec, Cabernet Franc, and a touch of Syrah, aged extensively in French oak and then held back in bottle until it showed its hand. At release, this wine already has seven to eight years of maturity, which is almost unheard of at this price point. Cabernet Franc plays a starring role here, lifting the Malbec with aromatics, freshness, and nuance. Lavender, pipe tobacco, dark berries, and blue fruit all come together with a juicy core and perfectly judged acidity. The Syrah adds mid-palate weight and depth, while the Malbec delivers richness without heaviness. This is not a flashy wine. It is composed, balanced, and confident. Powerful but controlled. Dark and juicy, yet lifted and succulent. The tannins are fine, the acidity is precise, and the wine keeps pulling you back for another sip. The crazy part is the price. This wine normally sits closer to $50, but it is available here for $29.98. With this level of bottle age, pedigree, and polish, that is a screaming deal. This is the new Mendoza. Blended, thoughtful, age worthy. And already doing exactly what it was designed to do.
