"The 1978 is a lovely, classic synthesis of the cooler fruit tones of 1978 and the classic terroir of Haut Brion. The bouquet offers up a lovely blend of blackberries, paraffin, tobacco ash, Graves earth, a bit of bell pepper and a lovely, pungent topnote of violet. On the palate the wine is medium-full, refined and elegant, with great complexity, fine mid-palate depth, and lovely length and grip on the tangy, meltingly tannic finish."
