"Warm, resonant hints of tobacco, smoke and cinnamon lead to layers of dark-toned red fruits in the 2009 OV. A rich, seductive wine, the 2009 impresses for its sensual, layered fruit and caressing finish. This voluptuous Cabernet Sauvignon should continue to drink well for at least another decade. Even though there is plenty of early appeal, the formidable tannins should allow the 2009 to develop beautifully in bottle. The 2009 is a shockingly good wine for the money and one of the best – if not the best – second label readers will come across . . . . I was blown away by the wines I tasted with Tom Futo and his team, headed by winemaker Jason Exposto. Readers should make an effort to taste Futo’s second wine, OV, a nod to Oakford Vineyards, the previous winery on these grounds. Futo’s OV is easily one of the best second wines in the valley. In just about any other winery it would be the top wine. And a great one, at that."
