"The 2008 Château Calon-Ségur is a superb example of this very classic vintage, and surprisingly, this wine was raised in fully one hundred percent new wood- surprising, as it does not really show much new wood influence at all! The deep, pure and still very youthful bouquet offers up a lovely mix of red and black cherries, tobacco leaf, gravelly soil tones, a touch of curry, smoke, currant leaf and a very nicely discreet base of nutty oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, vivid and tangy, with a superb core, classic, chewy structure, a lovely signature of soil, ripe, firm tannins and outstanding length and grip on the focused and still quite youthful finish."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
