"The 2013 Côte Brune bottling from the Barge family is a glorious expression of this legendary vineyard, as the purity of the vintage allows every ounce of complexity of Côte Brune to shine through, even at this very early stage in the wine’s development! The bouquet is precise and classic, wafting from the glass in a blend of black cherries, roasted game, woodsmoke, youthful stems, pepper, a touch of youthful syrah medicinal overtones and a very complex base of dark, stony soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with a firm chassis of ripe tannin, great balance and a very long, primary and palate-staining finish. This is going to be a great, great bottle of Côte-Rôtie in the fullness of time, and fans of Marius Gentaz would do well to tuck a box of this wine away in their cellars for future gratification."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Spans the Syrah-driven northern crus of Cote-Rotie and Hermitage and the Grenache-based blends of the warmer south, led by Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Its wines are known for power, spice and warmth.
The northern Rhone's most prestigious red appellation, producing perfumed, elegant Syrah, often co-fermented with a little Viognier, from steep terraced slopes.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
