"The 2013 Combes aux Moines from Domaine Fourrier is another ringing success in this vintage. The wine offers up a deep, pure and tangy nose of red and black cherries, dark soil tones, grilled meats, woodsmoke, roses, mustard seed, French roast and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and shows off excellent mid-palate depth, with a fine core, ripe tannins, excellent focus and grip and a very long, nascently complex and soil-driven finish. Fine, fine juice."

2013 in Burgundy was a difficult, cool and hail-hit year with a late harvest and small crop; the wines are fresh, lean and classically styled, with bright acidity and firm structure, especially the reds.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
