96 NM. "I was reliably informed that Henri Jayer practically made the Cros Parantoux. Whether it was Henri or his nephew Emmanuel, this stands as a superb Pinot Noir that after twenty years is only beginning to show what it can do. The bouquet is jam-packed full of broody, dark berry fruit laced with minerals, whilst the tightly wound palate displays the concentration you would expect from a much warmer vintage. There is real structure here, exerting a grip that suggests it will need another four or five years or seriously long decanting to loosen up. There is wonderful sinew on the finish: a bold Cros Parantoux built like a shire horse for the long-term. Tasted May 2013." Wine Advocate #207, Jun 2013 |
