94 WA. "La Torre's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is one of the most interesting wines of the vintage. Luigi Anania (with vineyards in the Sant'Angelo in Colle subzone) is a tried and true Brunello traditionalist who ages his wine in large oak casks for three and a half years. Despite that delicate approach, this wine is packed tight with power, color, enduring intensity and brooding masculinity. Instead of obvious fruit tones, your senses are awarded an exciting medley of balsam herb, cola, licorice and blackcurrant. This Brunello is dark, savory and timid. It needs more time to soften and evolve. Despite its youth, it already shows a high level of complexity." eRobertParker.com #217, Feb 2015 |
