"Weingart’s genuinely light (8% alcohol) and unabashedly sweet 2011 Bopparder Hamm Riesling Kabinett brims with lusciously juicy, ripe pear and nectarine and boasts a silken texture and expansive sense of vintage-typical richness without sacrificing vivacity or sheer refreshment, suggestions of lime and orange sorbet lending the finish here a delightful combination of soothing coolness and incentive to take the next sip, while a lick of salt serves for saliva-inducement. Would that there were more such 2011 Kabinetts, but it is only the vintage exceptions that are capable of balancing anywhere near this wine’s 77 grams of residual sugar while preserving freshness and landing lightly on their feet. (And yes, the acidity here – at 8.9 grams – is unusually high for the vintage, though Weingart swears that’s just how it came in.) I suspect that this superb value will be well worth relishing through at least 2030, and frankly, my own taste preference suggests setting it aside for a decade in hope that the sense of sweetness it engenders will have backed off a bit."

The spiritual home of Riesling, producing wines of piercing acidity, precision and longevity across a spectrum from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. Cool, steep-sloped vineyards along the Mosel and Rhine yield some of the world's most delicate, long-lived whites.
A highly aromatic white of piercing acidity and transparency to terroir, ranging from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. It ages remarkably and is the noble grape of Germany and Alsace.
