96 JG. "The 2001 Ruchottes-Chambertin from the Mugneret sisters is a brilliant example of the vintage. The bouquet is deep, pure and starting to blossom, as it jumps from the glass in a fine constellation of red and black cherries, grilled meat, a gloriously complex base of soil, coffee bean, fresh herb tones, woodsmoke and a very stylish base of new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and rock solid at the core, with excellent focus and grip, tangy acids and outstanding balance on the very long, suavely-tannic and complex finish. A great wine in the making." John Gilman, View From the Cellar #55, Feb 2015 |
