Bright medium ruby. Smokey black rasberry, black cherry and roast coffee aromas. Then sweet and dense but rather suave in the mouth, with complex flavors pf plum, coffee, olive and provencal herbs. Has the underlying sweetness of material to support its firm tannins. The crop level for this cuvee was just 18 hectoliters per hectare, according to the American importer, and the wine was done entirely in French oak. By Stephen Tanzer

Spain has the largest area under vine of any country and a deep tradition of oak-aged reds. Tempranillo-based wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, alongside Priorat's Garnacha and Carinena, anchor its fine-wine reputation.
A late-ripening red lending structure, dark fruit and gamey, meaty complexity to southern Rhone and Mediterranean blends.
