"I have been happily drinking this wine for four or five years, and as I near the end of my case, I deeply regret not having bought a second box. Trollat was never a really renowned producer beyond Rhône insiders, but he is really missed by those of us fortunate enough to have crossed paths with his great, classic examples. The ’95 St. Joseph V.V. has gotten better and better as it has aged, and now offers up a superb northern Rhône nose of cassis, black cherries, black pepper, spit-roasted meat, hot stones, medicinal syrah tones, and violets. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and fairly resolved, with a fine core of fruit, good balance, and a long, complex and meltingly tannic finish. At age ten, this excellent St. Joseph certainly has plenty of years still ahead of it."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Spans the Syrah-driven northern crus of Cote-Rotie and Hermitage and the Grenache-based blends of the warmer south, led by Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Its wines are known for power, spice and warmth.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
