"The 2013 CĂ´te Brune bottling from the Barge family is a glorious expression of this legendary vineyard, as the purity of the vintage allows every ounce of complexity of CĂ´te Brune to shine through, even at this very early stage in the wineâs development! The bouquet is precise and classic, wafting from the glass in a blend of black cherries, roasted game, woodsmoke, youthful stems, pepper, a touch of youthful syrah medicinal overtones and a very complex base of dark, stony soil. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, focused and rock solid at the core, with a firm chassis of ripe tannin, great balance and a very long, primary and palate-staining finish. This is going to be a great, great bottle of CĂ´te-RĂ´tie in the fullness of time, and fans of Marius Gentaz would do well to tuck a box of this wine away in their cellars for future gratification."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Spans the Syrah-driven northern crus of Cote-Rotie and Hermitage and the Grenache-based blends of the warmer south, led by Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Its wines are known for power, spice and warmth.
The northern Rhone's most prestigious red appellation, producing perfumed, elegant Syrah, often co-fermented with a little Viognier, from steep terraced slopes.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
