"The Barge familyâs 2012 CĂ´te Brune is a stunning young wine that is absolutely emblematic of the traditional style of CĂ´te-RĂ´tie that has made this domaine famous for three generations. The bouquet is pure and nascently complex, offering up a very refined blend of cassis, black olives, roasted meats, pepper, complex minerality, plenty of smokiness and still a whisper of youthful stemminess in the upper register. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and complex, with great sappiness at the core, lovely soil signature and a very, very long, ripely tannic and well-balanced finish. A great wine in the making."

The northern Rhone's most prestigious red appellation, producing perfumed, elegant Syrah, often co-fermented with a little Viognier, from steep terraced slopes.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
