"A spectacular wine that’s made in a ripe style, the 2007 Château Paradis Coteaux d'Aix-en-Provence Terre des Anges is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Syrah, and 20% Grenache that’s aged for 12-months in half new and old wood, and half in concrete tank. It exhibits a dense purple color as well as gorgeous aromatics of smoky blackberry and cassis fruit, coffee, licorice, and some new wood. While there’s no denying the modern slant (and those that are really oak adverse should probably pass), this fleshes out with air, showing touches of wild herb and freshly snipped flowers, as well as striking minerality on both the nose and the palate. Medium to full bodied, with notable purity, a dense, focused texture, and solid structure, this is a backup the truck purchase that should drink well for a decade or longer."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
A warm-climate red giving generous, high-alcohol wines of red fruit and spice. It anchors southern Rhone blends and old-vine wines in Spain and Australia.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
