"The 2018 Barbaresco Tulin strikes a compelling middle ground in Giorgio Pelissero's range. It has the richness usually found in his wines, but a good bit of freshness too. Floral and spice overtones weave into a core of red/purplish berry fruit, lending striking inner perfume and energy throughout. Nicely delineated and impeccable in its balance, the Tulin is impressive today. Giorgio Pelissero describes 2018 as a year with a large crop. 'Like 2004 after 2003,' he adds. As always, the wines are done in a style that emphasizes textural richness and intensity. The French oak is for me a bit much sometimes, especially in the flagship Vanotu. In 2018, for example, I find a bit more harmony in the Tulin."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
In Italy's northwest, Piedmont is home to Nebbiolo, the grape behind the powerful, perfumed and long-lived reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Fog-shrouded hills and calcareous soils define its greatest wines.
Produces Nebbiolo of slightly more elegance and approachability than neighboring Barolo, offering perfume, finesse and firm structure.
Produces pale but powerfully tannic and perfumed reds with tar, rose and cherry notes. The grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco, it is among the most age-worthy in the world.
